Time to get behind the team !

No, let's boo them and call for the manager to be sacked at every opportunity. That's the best way to boost their confidence going into the final games and a potential play off final.

Agree it's an awfull league and should the team not at least make the play offs they and the manager deserve much criticism but for now get behind em !

Here we go again

What do we have to do? Sing our hearts out for the lads? All wear the same coloured shirts? Organize a huge Blades line dance on the kop so the "boys" will know we still love 'em?

Just for once, just one fucking time, don't you think the pampered little wankers should dig in and give us something to shout about? Fans have shown their support by turning up in their droves week after week, despite knowing how crap we've been so sorry, it's about time they did what their paid very well to do and win some football matches.

Fleetwood, Peterborough, Scunthorpe etc. Our abject recent form isn't the fans fault, so let the club get us out of this mess and watch how the fans get behind them then.

No matter what some on here would have you believe we have one of the staunchest sets of fans in football, the problem is, you can only blindly cheer shite for so long.

Rather that than these kind of fans ;)

In defense of the fans, Unitedites do go down to bdtbl to cheer them on every game.
Regardless of how well we are playing
Its hard for fans to be enthusiastic with the way we have been playing at home, its just not lively to watch.
Sometimes I swear Cloughs idea is to quieten the home fans with the negative/ slow pace performances we have seen lately.
I do hope we start playing without fear, start attacking teams at home then we all can cheer them on to the playoffs, but atm it looks like we may just silently drift away from it all.

Picture this it is 35 minutes into the first half at the Stadium of Light, you're 4 nil down to your nearest relegation rivals who have scored only 4 away goals all season when
The Bubbly bright PA announcers come on and says
Regardless of how well we are playing surely it's time to rally behind the team with ten and a half games to go!

I want to be on my feet shouting and cheering them on more than anything, just gimmi something to shout and cheer about, I long for that more than anything. Tbh I can't muster any passion at what's being served up at the moment.

7 of our remaining games are against the chasing pack so something's got to improve to ignigite the crowd and the players

Regardless of how well we are playing surely it's time to rally behind the team with 11 games to go!

We are behind the team , but is the team behind us . You pay your money , you take your choice . Pity the all SUFC management and playing staff aren't showing the commitment as us fans , especially the away contingent who spend the weekend quality time and hard earned cash watching the blades.

As one of the post thread said - here we go again. We can blindly cheer shite for so long .

Mr Gloosop , fans are behind them , but every so often , you want something in return . Not a lot to ask for surely .:D

I think what Glossop May be getting at is what is the purpose of sounding off, jeering and complaining at this point in the season. It is a natural thing to want to do but how is it helpful?
The die is pretty well cast. Clough will keep pissing around with team selections, because nothing has worked well consistently yet. I think we all see there is frustrated potential in this squad but no one on here, praise and grumble or in the management team have been proved right and able to consistently pick it out. Like Baxter in or out, one or 2 up front, Harris good or poor, Diego and Collins wtf?....and so on

I couldn't go yesterday but I certainly didn't feel like singing my heart out when we went one nil down after over 60% possession in the first half according to the BBC.
One of the worst away matches I have been to was Crewe away after Wilson had been sacked. The atmosphere was a combination of hateful and disappointed. And we were in the playoffs. Forte, playing just in front of us most of the time looked totally at a loss helped on by shouts of 'you fucking piece of useless shit'

We can all see this season going the same way and my point is that invective and negativity Will only help it become a self fulfilling prophesy.

Hes not asking for us to blindly cheer shite ,the team is lacking in confidence and taking the piss and jeering makes them less confident. Getting behind them will make the players feel more confident and try things they daren't in a hostile atmosphere ,its human nature and the same at any level.

Agree Sitwell.
A lot of our players are very young, they need encouragement, they need us to get behind them. We have been very quiet atBramall Lane the last two home matches .
I know it's not easy to shout and cheer when we are playing so nervously, but surely that's the time to get behind the team. Just like we did at Wembley, just like we did at the Lane when we played Spurs. Now is the time to shout and encourage, not boo and criticise. Let's criticise on here, yes, but at the Lane we need to get behind them and a sGary Sinclair says, become the twelth man.

So let's cheer wildly and sing "ole" for every completed sideways and backwards pass and let's go crazy when the ball goes forward and smile knowingly when the ball comes back again.

We should all shave our heads and wear orange and grin benignly as we witness the poor lambs struggling on our behalf, content in the knowledge that they have feelings that are much more important than our own.

But the fear they are playing under is not just from the crowd. That's a symptom of negative tactics employed. If they don't donas they are told they get that criticism from management and the consequence is that they don't take risks and be don't express themselves. That's clearly he problem since we can all recognise that they are better players than what they are serving up in he league - as evidenced by he wins at Sham, QPR, Brizzle and the Performances vs Spurs

Liking this - definitely need to be more positive - if not for any other reason that to say that we, the fans, couldn't have done any more.

No - but some proper support wouldn't go amiss. I see so many fans who can't even be bothered to say/shout "go on" when we get a corner (no jokes re corners please!). Also, if someone has a good run or tries a shot - whatever - there are so many people who don't even clap and encourage!!

I just don't get that mentality to be honest. When you're at the match, support the team to the hilt.

Clough was manically trying to get the players to push up yesterday accrding to the radio.

I find this a difficult one to be honest. Personally I would be prepared to watch paint dry if it got us out of this division. Sadly the paint isn't drying and that is the problem. I think there is a dynamic relationship between the players and the supporters - one can feed the other .. or drain it.

It does put me in mind of the situation at Leyton Orient in 94/95 (I think) when the then owner, Tony Wood, lost his entire fortune in the Rwandan civil war and players were sold and increasingly the youth team got played (though theirs was a relegation battle which they lost). I think I saw all bar about 2 of Orient's home games that season and there were some decent young players - Darren Purse was one that comes to mind. You could almost feel the confidence of the players (especially the younger ones) draining away together with the optimism and belief in the supporters. You can't buy confidence and belief. Brisbane Road was a total morgue that season.

I try to back our club during the 90 mins as fully as possible and I believe every supporter should, however, it gets harder to be more encouraging and vocal when the vicious spiral kicks in. I'm not saying it is a good thing, it isn't but that is the point when being a supporter is hardest I think - where you have to suspend your disappointments and dig deep.

United have one of the most loyal and diehard supports in the land - particularly given the club's penchant for snatching disaster from the jaws of triumph - so I find it hard to be overly critical when people voice their disquiet outside of the 90 mins. It at least shows they care. It shouldn't happen in the 90 though to my mind. Having said that the players and staff could help though by throwing a few crumbs in the games which would be eagerly gobbled up by the supporters. Blades supporters generally aren't greedy in that sense and a little goes a long way.

When we scored against Colchester Baxter the opener nobody hardly broke into a clap that just about summed this vile season up for me.
