Time for the Poll: Wilder Out or In

I for one have made some awful mistakes and not realised until ages after what I'd done wrong and why I did it. I am stronger and wiser for it now. Wilder will have his "Bridge over the river Kwai" moment.

I didn’t vote in the poll. I’m not sure how I feel, really.

I do think we have to sack him now, and give someone else the JTW to start a rebuild, or stick with Wilder and give him a shot at rebuilding the team and getting us back up. There’s no point sticking with him now only to fire him in March.

The issue for me is not relegation, which is acceptable as part of a longer-term plan to establish ourselves in the top flight. And it’s not the signings he’s made, because I think some of these younger players can still come good for us (although we’ve made some big mistakes in terms of recruitment, for sure).

The issue is the absolutely dreadful football we have played for most of 2020. It is so fucking boring to watch. My heart sinks at the idea of us keeping Wilder, him refusing to adapt, and us having to watch this rubbish week in and week out. Maybe he would go back to exciting front-foot football in the Championship.

This. The turgid, defensive setup, the boring walking football, the hoofball whenever anyone over 5’9 plays upfront. I’d be nowhere near out if we were still playing like us, but we’re producing utter dross, barely laying a glove on anyone. To add insult to injury, in his interviews it’s clear that this is absolutely deliberate as he seems to have lost his nerve.
I don’t know how anyone could have watched the football we’ve played for well over a year now, and have the audacity to scoff at so-called dinosaur managers.

The reason we are where we are now is down to our inefficiency in the transfer market since we were promoted. Money has been made available but wasted on championship quality players.
There has also been a degree of irresponsibility in many of the contracts handed out since the end of last season.
We are clearly lacking the quality required to remain at the top level and I have seen nothing in recent performances to suggest the manager has it in him to turn it round.
We clearly need a new direction which can only be brought about by a change in the manager but I'm not convinced the current owner is capable of overseeing the required changes.
We shall see but it is looking increasingly like a return to mid table championship mediocrity.

Probably the same 30% of 'fans' that suddenly remembered where the Lane was when Wilder dragged us from the gutter of L1, to the holy grail of the Premier League (and will probably fuck back off again now we're not doing so well, if we're allowed in the ground next season)

It's a forum where people offer opinions. Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean it's 'ill informed crap'.

30% is not a small minority by the way, Labour formed a majority government in 2005 winning 35% vote share.

The locker room is where the players get changed. It can also be used to mean the team, ie the players, themselves. Hence the expression "lost the locker room" means "lost the team" as in los the respect of the players he commands.

I voted out because I can't see him turning it round in the championship next year with the current crop of players. There are only about half a dozen that I would actually want to keep, and some of those may want to stay in the Prem. The attitude of the manager worries me, together with the sight of players who would run their blood to water last year looking as uninterested as Kevin the teenager. It needs a huge clearout in the window, but unfortunately, I doubt the boerd will fund the replacement of half the team.

I don't doubt that we would have some decent players left after relegation but Wilder seems like a broken man at the minute and some of the current squad seem to be going through the motions. Without a huge clearout I struggle to see him turning this around. Like it or not, the most common outcome in this situation is a change of manager.
