I for one have made some awful mistakes and not realised until ages after what I'd done wrong and why I did it. I am stronger and wiser for it now. Wilder will have his "Bridge over the river Kwai" moment.

I didn’t vote in the poll. I’m not sure how I feel, really.

I do think we have to sack him now, and give someone else the JTW to start a rebuild, or stick with Wilder and give him a shot at rebuilding the team and getting us back up. There’s no point sticking with him now only to fire him in March.

The issue for me is not relegation, which is acceptable as part of a longer-term plan to establish ourselves in the top flight. And it’s not the signings he’s made, because I think some of these younger players can still come good for us (although we’ve made some big mistakes in terms of recruitment, for sure).

The issue is the absolutely dreadful football we have played for most of 2020. It is so fucking boring to watch. My heart sinks at the idea of us keeping Wilder, him refusing to adapt, and us having to watch this rubbish week in and week out. Maybe he would go back to exciting front-foot football in the Championship.
This. The turgid, defensive setup, the boring walking football, the hoofball whenever anyone over 5’9 plays upfront. I’d be nowhere near out if we were still playing like us, but we’re producing utter dross, barely laying a glove on anyone. To add insult to injury, in his interviews it’s clear that this is absolutely deliberate as he seems to have lost his nerve.
I don’t know how anyone could have watched the football we’ve played for well over a year now, and have the audacity to scoff at so-called dinosaur managers.

Over 500 votes cast, a good sized sample. And over 70% want him to stay. A very sizeable vote of confidence.

A casual observer of the vitriol on shoutbox or the number of anti wilder threads constantly appearing on the forum would be surprised at this. But as with most things, the rabid minority drown out the reasonable majority.

It would be nice if all the arm chair managers who know how to manage the club so much better than wilder can piped down for a bit now. But they won’t.

So next time you see one of the usual suspects posting some ill informed crap about our manager, just remember that it comes from a small minority and that most of us don’t agree.

The reason we are where we are now is down to our inefficiency in the transfer market since we were promoted. Money has been made available but wasted on championship quality players.
There has also been a degree of irresponsibility in many of the contracts handed out since the end of last season.
We are clearly lacking the quality required to remain at the top level and I have seen nothing in recent performances to suggest the manager has it in him to turn it round.
We clearly need a new direction which can only be brought about by a change in the manager but I'm not convinced the current owner is capable of overseeing the required changes.
We shall see but it is looking increasingly like a return to mid table championship mediocrity.

The usual subjects? What, all 154 of them? The fact that 30% want Wilder out is a big statement given the God-like status he had

I think the big question is will his boring, pedestrian, negative football work in the Championship because there’s absolutely no doubt we are going down.

You crack on with your opinions, that is your prerogative.

Just know that 7 out of 10 readers think you are talking out of your back side.

I'm 50/50 having said that the the thought of watching Stevens, Norwood, Sharp, Robinson even McBurnie in the Championship next year, getting promoted and seeing them again in the Prem' fills me with dread, and that's before the turgid boring football - now I've started I'm moving more to "out" and go for John Terry.

Tell me you are taking the piss, aren't you?

What is the locker room ? Where did he lose it ? Down the back of the sofa ?
Do we play Soccer ?

Probably the same 30% of 'fans' that suddenly remembered where the Lane was when Wilder dragged us from the gutter of L1, to the holy grail of the Premier League (and will probably fuck back off again now we're not doing so well, if we're allowed in the ground next season)

Majority aren't always right.

There was another poll on here the other day that said only 3.6% of people thought that Wilder shouldn't change the system.

It's a forum where people offer opinions. Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean it's 'ill informed crap'.

30% is not a small minority by the way, Labour formed a majority government in 2005 winning 35% vote share.

And I'm someone who has never called for Wilder to be sacked, only to lose his cloak of immunity

Hi, Stegosaurus here,

The locker room is where the players get changed. It can also be used to mean the team, ie the players, themselves. Hence the expression "lost the locker room" means "lost the team" as in los the respect of the players he commands.

Hope this helps. I can assign you a quiz on the subject matter if you like.

I voted out because I can't see him turning it round in the championship next year with the current crop of players. There are only about half a dozen that I would actually want to keep, and some of those may want to stay in the Prem. The attitude of the manager worries me, together with the sight of players who would run their blood to water last year looking as uninterested as Kevin the teenager. It needs a huge clearout in the window, but unfortunately, I doubt the boerd will fund the replacement of half the team.
You obviously didn’t watch swansea v reading last night, did you?

Wilder to stay, nobody else would keep us up in this position, and he's the man to take us back up, he's done it before.
He's taken us 'up', but never 'back up', there's a world of difference, very few managers achieve that.

If I remember rightly there were more than two options on the ballot sheet though ;)

very few managers are given the chance farke has and norwich are going back up i think he deserves a chance to make up for this awful season and if he isnt doing it after 3 months he will be sacked anyway

No. I've not watched any football other than the Blades since lockdown. I don't doubt that we would have some decent players left after relegation but Wilder seems like a broken man at the minute and some of the current squad seem to be going through the motions. Without a huge clearout I struggle to see him turning this around. Like it or not, the most common outcome in this situation is a change of manager. It is easier than shipping out half of the team.

And yet I seem to remember that when Wilder arrived the very first thing he did was to ship out over half the team 🤔

Sorry for asking again, but seriously: if you want him kept, after how many winless games do you think you would change your mind. Just roughly. Genuinely curious.

27, all the premier league games left then 5 next season

That's why the next window will be interesting. I am amazed that the likes of Mousset, Jags, Rodwell and Lunny were not sent packing in the summer.

Its American shite. Just like you talk shite. Are you Yank in disguise ?

The English term is the Dressing Room. He hasnt lost the respect of the players he brought with him up through the leagues. Those players owe him everything There is no evidence of this happening. It only happens in your tiny little brain

Im well up on most matters of sport even the American stuff so crack on with the quiz
