Here's another option for a wealthy investor:

1. Spend £25m on a stadium down the parkway

2. Buy Sheffield FC for £200k and move them to the new stadium

3. Put £10m into the playing staff to rip their way through the Lower Leagues

4. Make history by getting the world's oldest club back into the Football League

For someone with no emotional connection to Sheffield United but looking for a football investment you could spend half of what McCabe wants and achieve far more in less time. Just a thought, but there's no way Sheffield United is worth even half of what Mester Mccabe is asking so he's only ever going to get people like the poorest Sheikh in the Middle East digging a pound out of his Matalan trackies and crossing his fingers..

FC United of Sheffield.

50 million Chinese watching the final on TV can't do Sheffield's profile any harm

If it gets any more popular, they'll probably move it to Leeds Arena

Does Ding know any Chinese Billionaires ?

He lives in Sheffield and practises at Shirecliffe doesn't he ?

He practices at the Institute for Sport near the Arena I think.

Also, his entrance music used to be "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga, which was a great choice I thought. Not any more though.

Yes, we were discussing it in the shoutbox earlier. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a Blade, as he's choked in the final

I am starting think if the Chinese investment in Sheffield all goes to plan then I can see the Prince possibly selling his stake in the club to them.

Especially considering how much money the Chinese are spending in football at the moment.

So a property developer in China wants to invest £1billion of his personal wealth - not his company - in developing Sheffield. He has not done any feasibility or due diligence checks and is quite prepared to let Sheffield City Council decide how the money is invested.

Am I the only one thinking that this is all hot air and there are ulterior motives. I hope the Council doesn’t get any emails from Nigerians offering them £millions once they have paid a ‘nominal service charge’ through Western Union?

I belive they are preparing a bid to host the 2022 World Student Games.

It's not as though the Council can tell them where they must spend their money. They'll only invest if they think they can make a profit.

It's ironic that Evergrande China's largest Real Estate conglomerate is Based in Chengdu. I would have thought That McCabe would have cut a deal with them. As they are the ones spending huge amounts on international players and own the CSL champions?

Just putting this on record, don't want to sound like Magic Mike, and never ITK but according to an old gent I spoke to this morning, he was adamant that ongoing discussions are taking place between McCabe and Sichuan Guodong, the group behind the city investment announced in July, the president of which also donated money to SUFC community projects before that. McCabe open to offers, current asking price far too much but he seems to think it'll happen. Also raised same old property/flats debacle.

Was his name Kevin McCabe? ;)

Hmmm, loaded foreign owners can go one of two ways, brilliant or absolutely disastrous. I'd be wary of selling to the Chinese but if it means we get rid of the McCabe's, it'd happily take the risk.

It would just be our luck for McCabe to sell up just as Wilder has started to turn things around and got us playing good, winning football. New guy comes in, wants his own man at the helm and bang,we sink like a stone, again!

At least the Chinese favourite colour is red....:-D...... Trouble is we may end up looking like Liverpool... :-(

You mean more disastrous than 6 years in L1 - the worst run in our entire history?

Very rich new owners is what we are crying out for. Let's hope it's true.

Be careful what you wish for......as they say.
