Simply a joy to watch today, mentioned so many times but we are blessed with the best midfield I’ve ever seen but Duffy this season has surpassed my expectations. Give him the ball in ANY situation and he somehow seems to turn it into something, a unique player with an ability to see what is happening before it’s happened...up there as on of the best midfielders ever to wear the red n white stripes

As an attacking force we'll only go as far as Duff takes us this year I think. Apart from Hull I think this was as good as I've seen him

I had to laugh, I started reading the op and thought it had been posted yesterday. Only after a few posts did I realise it was an old post. That in itself speaks volumes for the magnificent consistency Duffy has shown since joining us. His bouncing day goal ensures him legendary status, but the guy is an absolute revelation.

Says it all when they put the nominations for MOTM up and he was not in it but did I hear right ?
He still shared the award with Lundstram.

yes, he shared MOTM with Lundstram, and to be fair, it was hard to pick one over the other.

I also think Donaldson could have been added, his work rate was outstanding.

His telepathy with Clarke is something to behold. They had it at Scunthorpe, and it goes from strength to strength. Up the Duff.

You can only be nominated for man of the match if you have scored a goal it would seem.

What an absolute joy to watch this lad perform,a master craftsman, doesn't matter if he receives the ball with 2 or 3 opponents surrounding him,he will twist and turn, and find space, pick a pass, get a shot off

I work with someone who purports to be a Blade who 'hate Duffy'.

I can only imagine she's secretly Van Aken's mum.

YES BUT HOW THE FUCK DOES HE REMEMBER WHAT HIS FEET ARE DOING! I watched carefully yesterday and watched his feet instead of the man. It was like a trickster doing the hidden queen or 3 x shells and a pea! He was absolutely fantastic and his close control is unbelievable. I love this man and the way he plays football. He isn’t scared to run at, take on or dance in front of anyone as he has absolute confidence (and rightly so) in his own ability. I can only believe that he is an exponent of....BLACK MAGIC! Go on Duffy son. Show the world JUST HOW GOOD YOU REALLY ARE by taking apart every team you play against (as long as it is for us).

I've been told off too many times by my fellow posters for starting new threads on old subjects.... how very dare I!!

Anyway it seemed an appropriate one to bump, or perhaps it should be bounce?

Love the way Duffy plays. Repeating myself but, always available to receive the ball, tries to make things happen by finding a yard or jinking to find an angle, some don't come off, sometimes even loses it, BUT, never hides, keeps going trying to do what he's good at. He was unlucky a couple of times too with a couple of lovely through balls as he tried to get Leon and Clayton behind their defence. His vision is superb. His delivery from free kicks is excellent. He even works very hard defensively and wins a surprising amount of headers against players much taller than him. In that position, I see no reason why we can't get another couple of seasons out of him.

Always been IN - can't remember him at Scunny, but was impressed with him when we drew 0 - 0 at Burton.

His ability to find space between the lines is 2nd to none at this level.

Erickson at Spurs is the only other player who does it as well - all be at a much higher level. You can't teach that skill - if you could more players would do it. You also can't teach the skill that Brookes has with running with a football and keeping it under control.

Thought Sami would over shadow Duffy this season......so well done to Duffy for stepping up a level.

Heading for player of the Season? Not sure anyone would bet against it at this point in the season.

UTB
remember the Scunny game he absolutely mullered us.. everyone was raving about him

This. The guy never looks flustered and makes it look easy at times. The mans brilliant. THAT goal, will be one I tell my Grand kids about. I only wish he'd signed for us a lot earlier!

Same with these "team of the week" selections in the nationals.

You can have a shocking game and score a goal, unexpectedly and off your arse....Yet if you score a goal, you make it into the team of the week.

Wilder's best signing in my opinion...he is pure, unadulterated class. I'm sure he's very happy at the lane at the moment, but I wonder if he ever thinks about where his career could have gone if he'd been this good at 21?

Personally I'm just delighted he's here now, and ripping defences a new one in our shirt every week. He needs a proper song...

Does anyone have stats from last season to compare to this so far for him; in terms of starts, goals, assists? My memory is probably playing tricks but he wasn't as involved as heavily appearance wise last season but when he did play, things seemed to happen. It's been said before but the goal at Wimbledon was reminiscent of his goal at the sty. Some teams just don't do their homework...

I only wish he was 22 not 32!

Although if he was we'd only be talking about how much Liverpool are going to spend on him this January.
