Best player on the pitch by an absolute mile yesterday , how has he been deemed surplus to requirements regularly at championship level?

I mean he's as good a midfielder as you'll see at this level. Makes the 'superior la liga' midfielders look like chumps.

Joy to watch this man skipping past players.

31, he's playing like he's 21.

Simply loveleh

You'd think he'd invented some kind teleportation boots yesterday the way he just appeared in places.

4 appearances at Birmingham in two years, released 2016 after spending a season on loan at Burton. Made his debut in the league at Scunthorpe at age 25, played non-league before joining Scunny. Don't know if he was offered a deal with Burton, but happily he joined the Blades on a free...probably CW /AK 's best signing

Got to admit I thought he would struggle to make an impact at this level. I was mainly concerned with his level of stamina, he always seemed to run out of gas after a hour or so
. He looked very strong in the second half yesterday.
He is an integral part of the system we are using and his close control and decision making was the difference, Ipswich did not have the same link between midfield and attack.
Great performance from him.

The role suits him. And he’s gradually been getting more game time this season as his fitness has improved.

Clearly happy with his lot, as evidenced in his football.

I thank Mr Duffy for signing for us, with the forethought that he would become a midfield dynamo and great team member.

Just to add to the praise that Duffy deserves, I think the choice of player that Wilder has is all part of the tactical plan to pick players CW thinks might be best suited to specific games. The fact that we have Duffy is a fantastic nod towards CW and AK. Just another gem we've picked up for nothing - goes to show that you don't have to pay millions to find great players, and Duffy is definitely one of those. I think that if Duffy looks after himself, takes up yoga (seriously), eats well, and in general doesn't abuse his body, he could play this well for at least another couple of seasons, perhaps longer.

I can’t rate Duffy enough. He teased and tormented the defence, he crossed and worked the back line until they were dumbfounded. He DEFENDED, yes, I will say that again, he DEFENDED, resolutely and, if it hadn’t been for such a fine display by Bashambaur, he would have been MOTM. After saying all that, he wasn’t so far in front of the others because it was a sterling display to a man! Well done you Blades and repair quickly, Kieron Freeman.

I'm a member of the Duffy appreciation society, too.
He used to be a winger and you caught a glimpse of that yesterday when he took on the full back.
However, he is such a clever player and has excellent control that this central midfield role suits him to a tee.
It means that he can continue a career at this level (perhaps beyond) in that role, if his body and his mind allow him to remin fit and healthy.
Duffy is a joy to watch with his link up play and his clever use of a pass. He is allus available for the ball and sees stuff others just can't.
Teks a mean dead ball, an' all.
Wish he'd pop up with a few more goals to add to the collection but he will ALLUS BE REMEMBERED FOR THAT GOAL! :)

That one goal has made him a cult hero , and the confidence that has given him shows in his football , not bad for an ex scaffolder , signed for free as well , unbelievable Geoff.

The first time Duffy came to my attention was when Gary speed had just taken over, and we somehow lost 4-0 against bogey team scunny, despite hammering them. He was outstanding that night I recall.

I hoped we'd sign him ever since.

Defacto blades legend. Bounce killer and "proper" intelligent footballer.

Although his chasing back late on has rightly been mentioned but how about in the corner kop/ south stand when he put the full back on his arse, only a Currie type player can do that

Nailed it one Ken what a player.

I can’t for the life of me understand why he’s not played at a higher level.

His tracking back late in the game yesterday sent that for a burton

What I liked about that forty yard run to win the ball is when he got there first, he didn't just hoof it into the stand, but tried to control it and was already looking up for who to ping it too. Unfortunately the ball had crossed the line, but it reminded me of something that Peter Reid once said: Good players can switch from winning the ball to looking to use the ball in an instant.

Always been IN - can't remember him at Scunny, but was impressed with him when we drew 0 - 0 at Burton.

His ability to find space between the lines is 2nd to none at this level.

Erickson at Spurs is the only other player who does it as well - all be at a much higher level. You can't teach that skill - if you could more players would do it. You also can't teach the skill that Brookes has with running with a football and keeping it under control.

Thought Sami would over shadow Duffy this season......so well done to Duffy for stepping up a level.

Heading for player of the Season? Not sure anyone would bet against it at this point in the season.
