(Berge should have cleared the corner, their player should have been picked up on the edge of the box and ramsdale should have reacted quicker).

He is very Lg 1,the comparing of Bryan and Robinson is like saying i would prefer to eat (Bryan Sago) rather than (Robinson Semolina)..............both fuckin yuk.

And Enda Stevens Rice Puddin is the only other alternative.
 
The question is why is £3m back up for JOC not deemed good enough anymore and a lad that couldn't get near the bench in the championship is all of a sudden playing in the EPL? Some real recruitment errors from Wilder over the past few windows.
 
Was worried about this one - but he played better than expected. No worse than Enda has been recently
I'd be happy to see him start again
 
Really difficult for him and looked understandably nervous. Thought he grew into it after 25-30 mins and didn’t look out of place after that. Having an inexperienced player in Lowe next to him didn’t help. Physically he is a better athlete than Robinson and got up and down better than he has too.

As I said somewhere else I wouldn’t be against him playing again if Stevens was at LWB.

And yes, anyone can give a corner away. A mistake led to the corner but doesnt directly correlate to the goal, that was Berge’s flimsy clearance and Fleck not doing his duties on the edge of the box.
 
For the first 20 mins he looked like a bloke who had been asked off the street to play for a PL team. After that he was 5.5/10. Good cross for Burke and at least attempted to go forwards. That left hand side is dire though.
 
Seems I may have let a few moments colour my view Bergen Blade from reading this thread. I have no means to re-watch, nor do I want to, but I'll soften my stance on his performance.

Berge miskicked poorly and knew it, judged by his reaction. But you see lots of corners cleared from the first post to outside the box. In itself that's not a dangerous situation. Getting an inswinging ball away from the first post to outside the box will normally decrease the chance of conceding.

The main problem was that we weren't properly organised with nobody marking the zone just outside our box. Gallagher actually hit it with his shin, but when not closed down it was enough. I think they even directly targeted Gallagher in the same position from a couple more corners after that, so we may not have learned our lesson either.

Agree. Maybe I was a bit harsh with 70% to Berge but given the angle of the ball in and Berge's body shape I don't understand why he's not used his left foot. If he's not able to clear a ball with his left, he and Fleck should be switched.
 
both robinson and bryan are not good enough for the premier league but would be good squad players if were back in the championship next season

Worrying that Wilder dismissed the lack of marking and organisation for the corners, when questionned in his post match interview. Leaving an opponent unmarked on the edge of the box should never happen. To do nothing about it after they scored was ridiculous.
 

He can cross a ball but I can't say there was much else to his game. Looks like the new Claude Davis (bomb scare) he was all over the place defensively improved after the break but was just happy to kick the ball anywhere which really screams league one standard. Harsh of Wilder to give him a full debut in such an important game no wonder he looked off the pace having very little game time above leagues one and two. Shows how desperate we are when we can't ease players into the squad via some appearances at substitute.
 
Bryan's overlap and cross for the Burke header was brilliant. Why didn't he do it more? Did he miss the triggers? Or were there good tactical reasons for him not to do it? Either way, I think there's potential there. Not sure if he's up to it defensively but there's only one way to find out - give him a few games. Would put Ampadu at 6 if available. Need to shore things up in front of the defence to help that back 3 out.
 
I thought he did OK, one mistake which unfortunately led to a goal, although that was not directly his fault. Looked athletic, I would play him again in that position and hope Stevens is fit for LB, otherwise put Osborne at LB

If under usual circumstances a player made an error resulting in a corner, which led to a preventable goal, no-one would even remember who conceded the corner and we'd all the talking about who was at fault for the goal. It's only cos he was making his debut as an extremely controversial selection that everyone remembers it was him that conceded the corner, which is really unfair.

Otherwise, for me, he was nowhere near as bad as i thought he'd be. In fact if you put it all in context he did pretty well. Unfortunately they don't take context into account when they dish out 3, 1 or 0 points at the end of a match.

And don't forget, if you blame Berge, doubt is cast on his quality.
As he is allegedly our best player it makes things quite uncomfortable all of a sudden.
He caused that goal.
 
Wow seriously can't believe he's being blamed for the goal! It was a corner he conceded - teams concede corners. Its the teams job to defend corners 😂

Fair play we rant about other fans but don't we love a scapegoat on here... its not unlike bullying tbh and its quite sad!
 
Decent article about him on The Athletic this morning, with some quotes from past managers/teammates. It will be interesting to see if Wilder stands by him.

I stick by my assessment that he had a pretty poor game, but I think the context is that this was his first competitive league game for us in god knows how long (ever?) and the first time he'd ever played in the Premier League. You can excuse him for being a bit rusty and off the pace. At least he seems half decent on the ball. To be honest, from reading that article, all of his strengths mentioned are exactly what we'd look for in a LCB - comfortable on the ball, likes to get forward, good crossing ability, strong and up for a battle, decent spring. The only challenge is whether those attributes are all tidy at League One level but not quite good enough for the Premier League.
 
I'd give him a run. I don't know if you would say individually he's the best; same as Max but I thought as a trio him, Lowe and Fleck offered the best balance we have had this season going forward instead of everything going down the right. The most "back to normal" if you like. We desperately need a settled side, I always think players have to play (I know it sounds obvious) to gel and build confidence.

You can blame Berge (as I do) without doubting his quality (which I don't). He just made an awful decision to try and clear that near post corner with his right foot.
 
Any idea why the commentator was self-consciously calling him Key Ann Bryan rather than just Keen? Sounded wierd
