We are so far behind in quality compared to Wolves it’s embarrassing. We look slow, unimaginative, lacking in skill, all-round out-classes by them so far. I hope Mr McCabe is watching, this is exactly what I said after the Villa game. Premier league players who cost big money are making us look amateur. We did well with very little in League 1 and carried on the momentum until the Coutts injury.

Time to make a decision Mr McCabe

With the transfer window closed, what should that decision be?

There’s a massive gulf between Wolves and the other 23 teams, some of whom have also spent millions, which shows it’s not just about the money.

Let’s face it, Wolves’ financial doping is immoral.

They’ve had no more play than us. Yes they are decisive in attack but how much credit do you actually give them? If i threw a couple of 15m Champions League players into our team we’d be pissing it.

We need a bit of fortune and we’re not getting it. It was a wonderful first goal. But it hit the inside of the woodwork and went in. When O’Connell hit the inside of the woodwork against Villa it stayed out. Such is the luck right now.

Where we have to be more decisive is against the other 22 teams.

Wolves are the only team, apart from villa with a ageing John Terry, who have genuine champions league quality players, both of whom will probably be at the world cup with Portugal, neves and jota. I think that's the difference

For a team that's spent that amount. They should be pissing it.. 45 mins to go though. Clarke hatrick anyone?

They're risking FFP and who knows what that means. Look how Hull are struggling ATM

Immoral? That's hilarious.

They won't get fined if they go up, Bournemouth have a fine hanging over them that will only be paid if they are relegated. The football league has no jurisdiction over premiership teams. Wolves have took the 100 million gamble of going up with no penalty

Whatever the intention, the FFP rules have done anything but advocate fair play. Every transfer window seemingly provides nothing but proof positive that it was nothing but lip service. I think we could come up with half a dozen better systems that would provide fair play. This version of FFP just keeps the previous elite, in the seat of power because the wealth and subsequent popularity gained prior to the rules, means new entrants simply don't have the required ceiling to compete, regardless of which billionaire now owns them. Nothing to do with the score tonight, but only UEFA Would implement a system that still overlooks billions being spent in each transfer windows without the faintest whiff of irony.

Maybe we should be awarded points for running well under FFP? :D
No but we should all remember the shit that we suffered when our club was ran in such a fashion. I personally look at our transfers and position in the league and feel we’ve done pretty good for our first year back. Think some people have a very short memory

We looked slow and unimaginative against the pigs, so what point are you trying to make? Yes, Wolves were bloody brilliant but I’m sick of seeing people use the “Wolves spent x amount” is short sighted. This is an ongoing issue which I should certainly not exclusive to tonight’s game.

Tongue in cheek mate, the point I was making is that Wolves will have to take the punishment but we don't know what that's going to be yet. Would getting promoted be a fair trade off? I don't know. suppose they had spent heavily, broke FFP and didn't get promoted?

I see that mate and to be honest my comment wasn’t only aimed at your post but at the alarming amount of people posting negative stuff on here. I understand we’re on a poor run and some decisions have been a bit baffling but I am concerned that if these dissenting voices get much louder the incredibly positive atmosphere at the club will start to turn.

Look up FFP, do your research and come back and tell me if Wolves are anywhere near in breach of it?

That's exactly the difference.

Even on Tuesday night: the likes of Terry, Grealish and Snodgrass showed what difference £40k a week players can make.

Our issue has been, we've been looking at S6 Mittwoch and assuming all £40k players are like theirs and we don't need such players to challenge.

The truth is they aren't!!

Time to make a decision, could you clarify that?

You have a valid point regarding how far we are behind Wolves but lest we forget, we’ve not been that far behind the rest of the teams we’ve played this season even since Coutts’s injury and even in the games we’ve lost like Bristol and Villa. I think we need a bit of realism here, we’ve not just been beaten by arse-end Birmingham City on our own patch. We’ve been beaten by a team with players comparable to a top half Premier League side who a pissing the league. Ask Derby, the team in second place currently how ‘lacking’ we are, Wilfer’s worked miracles.

We are battling way above our financial level (which is bottom 6), and even though I’m not a fan of McCabe’s, the only decision that he can make that would enable us able to really complete with most of the teams above us would be to sell up to a multi billionaire. Tonight wasn’t about anything else but us being outclassed by a team that had cost tens of £millions to put together with one single player probably costing 3 or 4 times more than our whole squad has.

BTW, I find the ‘little league one’ comment a bit strange, especially as it took us 6 years to get out of it and most Blades enjoyed every minute of last season.

United were fucking rubbish, not one player was willing to hold onto the ball and move forward with it. Sideways or backwards passing as soon as they got possession. They were inviting Wolves to come onto them, it was torture watching it. The gulf wasn't there for the first 20 games so it's got to be loss of confidence or dubious tactics, I don't know. Duffy was noticeable by his absence so that's my contribution for starters as to where we start fixing things.

Yes and no. Duffy might have been the best sub for Holmes. On three or four occasions we just failed to gather the ball at vital times in attack. The players need to practise closing down quickly the opposition player in possession in our defensive third of the pitch. We need to be more direct in attack, without lumping it.

With the transfer window closed, what should that decision be?

Where they want this club to operate. Do they want to see us challenge for the Premier league, or stagnate in Championship/league 1. We're above out station currently and whilst splashing money is no guarantee of success, we aren't going to get to the Prem with league 1 & 2 players. We rode momentum up until Coutts's injury and were on a high but that bubble has burst

I agree, we did look slow and unimaginative against Wednesday too and also agree that its an ongoing issue, I said the same after the Villa game. The gap between prem & championship is growing every year and sadly, that's the cost of owning & running a football club with high ambitions.

So do we have ambition or do we simply not have the money? I read on here that we are new in the Championship and that we need to get established first before we can move on... I’m sure we can stay in this League for years to come but does anyone truly, realistically imagine that McCabe and the Prince will ever finance a push for promotion to the premierships?

Have a think...........

No I didn’t think so!

Yeah, that's the current trend and it's an easy mistake for people to fall into when things are not going well
