As I’ve posted elsewhere, I’d argue he’s better suited to covering Egan than Basham to be quite honest – though talented enough to develop into RCB, in the same way we’ve trained Berge into the RCM role rather than the deep role he’s used to.

Stand to be corrected but not sure of his physical presence to win headers

It’s not near Egan certain, or Jagielka. If we’re looking at someone to replicate that particular part of Egan & Basham’s game, that’s not Ampadu. But he’s more mobile, better on the ball etc

As long as he doesn’t re grow that scary hair do. Must have lost a stone when he got that cut off.

if this is true its exciting and perplexing in equal measures. Chelsea are going to want to get him plenty of gametime, so youd have to assume if he arrives it would have been with assurances from Chris around that. I dont see why we would breakup JOC, Egan & Bash given how they went last year. I think hed get minutes in the Norwood role and given he can cover for Bash & Egan getting mins off the bench and gives us good injury cover and somebody to rotate in for cup games but surely Chelsea would want him to get more minutes than that.

If hes going to slot in to start i guess its going to be at Egans expense, he certainly would add passing range to the team, but as amaingly talented as he is im just a little uneasy if were going to break the back 5 that served us so well last year.

Ah heck what the hell do I know anyway go on the CWAK !

You don’t get assurances from Chris Wilder you earn your place. Wilder has said before he refuses any guarantees in loan deals, think he said this after Ben Woodburn

Exactly which is why I cant see how this one could happen. If I Lampard im sending him out to get minutes and I dont see enough of those minutes at BDTBL without an injury happening somewhere.

Strange one for Chelsea I agree, I’m not complaining though, great little asset to have if needed. I just don’t see him getting in Chelsea’s defence so would love him permanently as Future Bash

Ampadu would be an incredible loan deal. And a frankly jaw dropping loan-to-buy (I can't foresee that happening though).

He will be the primary cover for Bash, Egan and possibly Norwood... As i think a couple of people already said.

Remember we'll get injuries and fatigue this season, that wasn't present last season. So more games despite not being first choice.

Class young player.

The desperate cover for Bash seems to have been resolved in the short term.

From the video clips Bergen posted it looks like he has a way to come in terms of actual defending - he looks good on the ball and technically very strong.

But obviously not the strongest in the air or positionally yet. Think he could certainly learn from the likes of Egan, bash and JOC but I could see him playing more in midfield than at the back initially.

Would be a top signing and cover loads of positions in midfield and defence

Be great if we could sneak in a cheeky With a view to buy

The title of this thread evokes the feeling of a country song or a gritty biopic.

I thought it was established that the Nixon guy on Twitter is a chancer...a few posts later and we are taking his word as gospel. Right...

This is from his performance yesterday. He really wasn’t troubled, and it was a frustrating game where Bulgaria really parked the bus, were tough to break down, and Ampadu had the ball much further up the pitch

You could certainly see him playing the bashams role from that clip and looks like he would be dangerous on the overlap.

Obviously a big talent, but we’ll probably have to accept he probably has a little bit to learn certainty initially.
