To follow up, it would've been great to have Esse as he's undoubtedly a huge talent... but I'd rather we sold Hamer and invested in a similar profile winger that plays off the left.

I'd really like to see us give the right wing minutes to Andre Brooks now and not block his way.

I appreciate he blows hot and cold and his end product could be better... but, at his age, he can only get better and he has shown an awful lot in his senior appearances.

If Brooks improves his end product, then we've probably produced a £10-15m winger out of our academy and it doesn't feel like he's a million miles away from things suddenly clicking into place.

A side note, our owners have to see the wonders that our academy is producing and invest heavily in supporting and improving it. It's been fantastic for this club for 20 years and seems to be getting better. Remarkable over performance.

Problem is, investment or not you can't guarantee producing 1st team players and City are still around taking the biggest prospects.

It's been a fantastic run of talent production but I'm not sure we'll see another regular matchday squad player for 2+ years

Had to be- 4 year deals for Chong, McGuiness and Matos nothing short of sackable offences regardless of intoxication.

Didnt we have a few experts on here telling those who were very concerned with how United were conducting their summer transfer business, that they were 'bed wetters' and that they (cos they were cool as the proverbial cucumber) would keep their powder dry until the summer window closed?

Errrr. Yes we did. Wonder if their powder is a bit damp now when you read how we gave 4 year deals to that shite on TDD. Feck a doodle doo. Still on the bright side, if the same happens again in a summer transfer window coming soon, and the proverbial cool cat tells us all to "relax with cadburys caramel", we can tell them they are talking bollocks with plenty of justification. Clearly, some had a lot of confidence in United's ability not to royally feck things up, in the summer. Misguided, but commendable.

Why would JRS come to us, he barely cemented his spot against Brooksy last season but now Brooks has improved a lot and has great chemistry with Seriki don’t see why he’d come to us just to be a last 30min player. Don’t get me wrong I’d love him just don’t really see why he’d want to come to us

Do we know this for certain? He'd just returned from injury so there was every chance he wasn't fit.

It seems many just assumed he'd been dropped without any confirmation that he had - mainly as a stick to beat the management with at the time. He may well have been but I never saw anything to confirm it.
