Fuck it, get em in. Can't be any worse than the shite playing at the minute. Thought Ukaki looked half decent in preseason and at least liked to shoot. While we are at it, get One on the bench instead of Canon. We all know he cost £10 million, but that shouldn't means he gets a place in the squad in place of someone who will at least put a bit of effort in.

It really can and it absolutely will if we start including Football Manager regens into a side that couldn’t pull the right result in a tug of war.

If we aren't scoring any goals, how can it get worse? Do we get minus goals for playing football manager regens?

It may be more important to ask why Cannon isn't performing when with his previous clubs he has been outstanding.

CW must have looked at him and thought this guy will be great in the team and slot right in.

So what has gone wrong. Is it CW at fault rather than Cannon?

I didn't see a lot of Cannon before he joined us, but the game i did see him for Stoke at Bramall Lane, he was completely anonymous. I know he scored 4 at Pompey (I think) don't remember anyone giving him any "outstanding" reviews. I stand to be corrected, maybe its just my hazy memory

He was crap in the Stoke game and was subbed at half time. Warning bells??

Silly post.

"Don't throw the baby out with the bath water" springs to mind.

This squad, whilst chronically underachieving 9 games in, has got a mix of quality, experience and potential - to discard this and blindly chuck the likes of Ukaki and the other 2 in (you haven't seen the other 2 play, have you? I know I haven't) is just plain crazy and nonsensical, and would result in us getting thumped even harder every week.

As for One, take the Bristol City goal away and I've not seen a great deal from the kid to be honest, certainly not enough to suggest he should be ahead of Cannon in the pecking order.
Does he have potential? Yes.
Should he be in and around the squad? Yes, very probably.
The comparison with Cannon is born out of frustration I imagine, as he himself is still only a young kid at 22.
He hasn't pulled any trees up yet for us (and that's putting it incredibly politely), but he has scored 20 goals at Championship level in his career so far, he didn't score them by accident.
There's a player in there, it's up to the coaches and the boy himself to improve his levels.

The International Break couldn't have come at a better time, 2 weeks for Wilder to work with the squad - several big hitters from last season need to stand up and take ownership, and if they do, we'll smash Watford...... without Ukaki and co in the team.

You know how there's a number of divisions below us? It's because it actually can be worse by any metric you want to measure.
Yes, and if we don't start scoring goals, we'll be visiting them very soon. Didn't Einstein say the sign of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It has nothing to do with frustration regarding Canon, I've not seen him have a good game yet (and I include the one for Stoke at Bramall Lane last season). People keep thinking he's going to come good because he cost £10 million. The fact is the kid isn't very good (not his fault we paid that fee for him, but his lack of effort is his fault). One might be very raw, but at least he's a nuisance on the pitch and offers a couple of things that Canon doesn't (in terms of pace and work rate).
Out of interest, what have you seen in the past 2 seasons that makes you think we'll smash Watford after 2 weeks training? That is a really bizarre comment, as we haven't smashed anyone since Wilder came back the second time.

Cannon played his best game for us away at Burnley last season. He was in a front 2 with Moore which caused the formidable Burnley defense quite alot of problems and he scored his only goal. He is not a lone striker, he needs a partner.

Ukaki looked horrendous vs Birmingham. The only meaningful game he’s played for us.

The other lad can’t keep fit

The Bulgarian lad is nowhere near ready having watched the development squad.

We’re rubbish I get that, but those lads aren’t the answer

Don't let that goal took you about Cannon's level of involvement that day. He only had 12 touches in the entire game, comfortably the fewest by anyone who started, and even fewer than some of the substitutions who only played at the very end.

Didn’t Cannon cost us an initial £4 million rising to £10 million ?

So his constant under performing has actually saved us millions.
Regards Cannon it’s quite incredible that he’s played about 25 games for us and I can only remember him gaming about 4 shots.
It’s also pretty incredible how he has so few touches each match, never known anything like it.
He might be a great finisher but if he’s not touching the ball, who knows?

The AI system was all about buying players with potential on the cheap. A bit like buying a £1 lottery ticket.
It was never going to bring in players who would go straight into the 1st team. It was players for the future.

He might need a partner, but he isn't a good enough player to build your team around.

He's surprisingly poor.
Not dissimilar to Brewster when he first arrived, in that he has no football brain.

He has one strong attribute, an ability to get a hard, accurate shot off early, but he's so poor without the ball that he never gets himself in position to use it.

He seems to want little balls played in behind for him to run onto, but he doesn't have the pace to get to the ball or the strength to hold off a defender.

If we get relegated (which is starting to look a very real possibility), we might be onto another Ched Evans situation, where suddenly he finds he has more space to operate in and things start to click.
But at Championship level, right now, he's absolutely useless and is offering nothing.

Ryan Oné, raw though he is, at least offers some nuisance factor .. and at 6'3 with a fair amount of pace, is the type that a PL club would drop a decent fee on if he shows any sort of potential to step up a level.
