The best thing about today

I wish people would cut keepers more slack. Some people I've talked to blamed Moore's sending off at Wolves for our defeat. Some also blamed Eastwood for Wolves' third. Both are wrong. Keepers are totally different to outfield players - instead of spending all week refining their passing/dribbling/tackling skills - goalies concentrate on shot-stopping, penalties, catching crosses and distribution. This can make them look naive when dealing with 'normal' football things and, as the 'last line of defence', they're in an unforgivable position.

All goalies 'make mistakes'. Wildsmith for the pigs v Brum - letting the ball through his legs. Petr Cech v Swansea, Schmeichel v Citeh yesterday. In normal time, I thought Blackman was slow to go down for Leeds' equaliser, but he'd left three-quarters of the goal 'open' and it was a cracking, pacy near-post header.

Having looked again I think you’re probably right, and it’s also fair to take into account that he likely won’t have been 100% going into the game yesterday.

Well, who’s just a little ray of sunshine then? :D

If you standstill you effectively go backwards. I had hoped  after the start we had we would go on to demolish Leeds, like 3-0. In the end we were lucky to get 3 points.

It's the lack of creativity I don't get and the inability to shoot from the edge of the box. FFS we are not Man City (or Wolves for that matter) but continually passing it around the box invites the opposition to get more players behind the ball and make it more difficult to shoot. It ain't rocket science.

We did that against Wolves and again yesterday. Basham is a major culprit. Hell we've all played the game and what do they tell you, 'keep your head down over the ball and drill the ball hard'. With Basham clearly he is either deaf or they never told him. He's too damn scared to have a go/ guaranteed to get in row YY.

No good all this quick pressing then fannying around on the edge of the area. Our goals for record post CI (CI=Coutts injury is garbage).

You’re a ‘glass half empty’ person, aren’t you?

When it was full and is now half empty - yes.

No slacking guys, we have to keep moving forward and at the moment we're on Kangaroo juice.

We need grumpy Wilder back for a bit. Kick some arse. There all getting a bit 'we're glad to be here'.

It seems to be fashionable these days to attach some level of blame to the keeper for conceding regardless of circumstances.

This isn’t imited to SUFC - there is a consensus amongst certain sets of fans that keepers “aren’t as good as they used to be” which completely ignores the fact that the game is played at a faster pace, the ball is lighter and keepers are expected to play their part in retaining the ball and starting attacks.

Keepers are also pretty much written off now after an error, no matter how isolated an incident. They are seen as a potential liability from there on in.

One thing that I think clouds Blades fans view of keepers is that for 20 odd years we had regular keepers far above the standard we could have reasonably expected (Tracey, Kelly, Kenny).....these were Premiership standard keepers in their prime plying their trade in the championship. Moore and Blackman are decent enough for this level.

Agree and it's worth remembering that both Kelly and Tracey made mistakes too but people don't see that through the mist of nostalgia.

All overshadowed by a cup of liquid shite sold as coffee which had grains all over the cup. And what's with new stupid lid?

The sooner this takeover happens, the better.......

It was a very good save, but Billys volley was surely the best thing about todays game, it was a superb effort, very Mark Hughesish.
As a member of the goalscorers' Union, you would say that; as a member of the goalkeepers' Union, I would go with the save by Jamal. Seriously, I enjoyed both. One of the pleasures of being on the Kop directly behind the goal is occasionally seeing a world-class save from a perfect angle, and that was one.In a split-second, the mood went from despair at conceding an equaliser to elation when it was saved. Being greedy, I would have like Billy's goal to have been at the Kop end as well.

I think we can both agree that both the volley and stunning save were world class.

Leeds had just scored, their fan had been on the pitch taking the pee and everyone was slumped back seething as the atmosphere soured and a little excited voice behind me went "The sun's coming out!".

A shame, but we don’t appear to have a goal line camera view of that in the highlights the club has put up. Would have been a good one to view from that perspective.

We beat dirty Leeds! Fucking horrible, cheating, dirty Gordon Strachan sitting on our advertising boards flexing his muscles, dirty fucking club responsible for inventing diving, intimidating, cheating fucking horrible bastard Leeds Scum.

Plus fat lad from Sheffield is back, and we're well in with a shout for the last playoff spot.

Plus pigs get closer and closer to a relegation battle.

What's not to like about today?

And seat chucking wankers
