The best thing about today

The best thing about today was Sharp's world class goal with his first chance of the game.

The second best thing was Blackman's world class save.

Does that image still haunt you as well ?

It does.

Vinny Jones (who the season before epitomised their dirty fucking Leeds horrible bastard cheating ways) played for us then.

He (Vinny "never really liked him" Jones) almost scored with a header, which hit the post, rebounded inwards in front of the goal, hitting their diving keeper on the back, and somehow it went out instead of in.

Gordon "velocity" stracunt was impersonating Vinny when he scored in front of the kop, I'm lead to believe.

M’y récollection was that the skinny ginger wazzock scored at the Lane end, unless i’ve misunderstood you that is ?

Our centre half scored a great own goal against Mel Rees (RIP), Brian Gayle I think, to win the title for the Dirties, oh what joy that game gave me

The best thing about today was back to winning ways, three points, stunning opener from Captain Billy, great save by Jamal, solid finish for the penalty.

Beating the dirties, lovely stuff.

best thing was final whistle and 3 points collected

Leeds were far better than at Leeds and our running down the clock needs some serious attention , bad case of the jitters
Ricky Holmes came on and got caught in possesion twice. must do better, some seriously bad choices across the team made us look like we were our own worst enemy in the final 10 minutes

Where do you get your drugs from Fred?

Well the performance today was pretty shit. Very Adkinsesque apart from Billy's quite spectacular goal. Two very ordinary boring teams on display and a very over fussy referee. Can't see Sky clamoring to have us on again when looking at the next rounds unless performances improve.

Again we fail to kill teams off. Becoming a trademark of Wilder's side since the autumn. Added to the squad with more 'ordinary players'. A total lack of creativity, just like watching very average United teams in the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's.

Only blessing is we'll finish higher than the Pigs.

Wow,and you accuse me of being on drugs.

Routine Blades stuff. Chill!!

You may be correct. Maybe I've just invented in my own mind it was in front of the kop to wind myself up about it even more!

You’re a ‘glass half empty’ person, aren’t you?

We beat dirty Leeds! Fucking horrible, cheating, dirty Gordon Strachan sitting on our advertising boards flexing his muscles, dirty fucking club responsible for inventing diving, intimidating, cheating fucking horrible bastard Leeds Scum.

Plus fat lad from Sheffield is back, and we're well in with a shout for the last playoff spot.

Plus pigs get closer and closer to a relegation battle.

What's not to like about today?
Stop sitting on the fence and say what you really think  UTB

The best thing about today was getting the win but the save from Blackman was outstanding and I'm so glad he was back between the sticks today. He seems to give the defence confidence!.

Stop trying to be diplomatic VB, what is it you're trying to say? ;)

That save was as good as a goal - it was in all the way from where I was sat.

Along with Billy's 200th goal being a stunner.

A long overdue penalty and

Teams around us finally dropping some points (especially against poor opposition in sunderland and Bolton)

Been a cracking day and we have some momentum again for the final push.

Our angle on John St meant we probably didn’t see just how good it was, but I said at the time it looked like a save that would earn a point or two.

I've checked on you tube. You're correct. Gordon scored at the lane end.

Lovely sentiment but Sharp just smashed in one of the best goals I've ever seen at the lane, claiming his 200th league goal, right infront of a stand full of gobsmacked Leeds fans!.
Almost as gobsmacked as they were in the 2nd minute at Elland Rd....

It was an excellent save, and I thought overall he had a decent game. However, I also thought their equaliser he might save more often than not – not a lot of pace on it, and he seemed to fractionally hesitate to go for hit. With his reach I don’t think I’m being overly harsh.

I wish people would cut keepers more slack. Some people I've talked to blamed Moore's sending off at Wolves for our defeat. Some also blamed Eastwood for Wolves' third. Both are wrong. Keepers are totally different to outfield players - instead of spending all week refining their passing/dribbling/tackling skills - goalies concentrate on shot-stopping, penalties, catching crosses and distribution. This can make them look naive when dealing with 'normal' football things and, as the 'last line of defence', they're in an unforgivable position.

All goalies 'make mistakes'. Wildsmith for the pigs v Brum - letting the ball through his legs. Petr Cech v Swansea, Schmeichel v Citeh yesterday. In normal time, I thought Blackman was slow to go down for Leeds' equaliser, but he'd left three-quarters of the goal 'open' and it was a cracking, pacy near-post header.

Well, who’s just a little ray of sunshine then? :D

It was Vinny's (and Brian Marwood's) debut for us. I remember him standing on the halfway line at the start and applauding both sets of fans.
