The 92 point myth

Leicester seem to be a very very specific case of what happens when you don't include relegation clauses in contracts....

They're effectively screwed. Perhaps more screwed than our neighbours, which will annoy our neighbours as they're not even the worst / best at being screwed and their failings under chansiri will be overshadowed by Leicester, a bigger and more successful club than them
While Leicesters financial issues are one thing it's not unheard of sides to drop not long after relegation from the premier league....we did it ourselves!

Not sure it's true of Davies. He's clearly a class above but he's so rarely fit that when he is it takes a couple of games for the team and him to find a cadence, at which point he's out injured again.

Riedewald has had one injury since he's been here. Our record with him in the team pre-injury was P12 W7 D1 L4 (two defeats in his first two when he was miles off match fit) and our record since his injury is P7 W3 D1 L3.

Hopefully Riedewald is back fit soon and Kalvin Phillips can get up to speed quickly because if we can play the two together for the final 12 or so matches we'll win 9 or 10 of them.
I don't think it's that simplistic as to compare the with v without records. The essence of the point, implied in the follow up from what i said to Champagneblade is one of squad depth and last season what happened when we lost a key player. We didn't replace Davies when he was injured and never really had a chance with the depth in the squad.

Davies came in last season at a time when we had games coming thick and fast, we were winning more games, but also Davies having a spell in the side lifted us when players like Peck and Souza were holding together a very patched up midfield. Davies coming in and contributing relieved that pressure, especially with losing Blaster. Losing Davies again and not having enough depth of cover in the squad most likely compounded things in the latter part of the season

Similar with Riedewald, we got him in to stabilise things, which he clearly did, but we lost him at a time when Blaster was not quite ready and so we've had to make do. Whilst the results with him are impressive, we have since been able to strengthen with Phillips (and Rothwell), which also takes the pressure off bringing Blaster back too soon, gives us a defensive option, relieves the pressure on Peck too. It also means we don't have to rush Riedewald back either

Last 10 years:

2015-16: Newcastle United (promoted), Norwich City (promoted 3rd season*), Aston Villa (promoted 3rd season*)
2016-17: Sunderland (relegated), Middlesbrough (still in Championship), Hull City (relegated 4th season)
2017-18: Swansea City (still in Championship), Stoke City (still in Championship), West Bromwich Albion (promoted 2nd season*)
2018-19: Cardiff City (relegated 6th season), Fulham (promoted*), Huddersfield Town (relegated 5th season)
2019-20: Bournemouth (promoted 3rd seasons), Watford (promoted*), Norwich City (promoted*)
2020-21: Fulham (promoted*), West Bromwich Albion (still in Championship), Sheffield United (promoted 2nd season*)
2021-22: Burnley (promoted*), Watford (still in Championship), Norwich City (still in Championship)
2022-23: Leicester City (promoted*), Leeds United (promoted 2nd season*), Southampton (promoted*)
2023-24: Luton Town (relegated), Burnley (promoted*), Sheffield United (still in Championship)
2024-25: Southampton, Leicester City, Ipswich Town

It's getting more common for teams to either go straight back up or straight down. No side has been promoted after an absence of more than 3 seasons - ie once the parachute payments run out - although Boro may buck that trend this season - but a there's an increasing trend of clubs circling the drain once the PPs run out.

Still in the Championship: Middlesbrough (9th season), Swansea (8th), Stoke (8th), WBA (5th), Watford (4th), Norwich (4th), United (2nd)
Promoted: Aston Villa (3rd season), Norwich (3rd), Bournemouth (3rd), WBA (2nd), United (2nd), Leeds (2nd) Newcastle (1st), Fulham (1st x2), Watford (1st), Burnley (1st x2), Southampton (1st), Leicester (1st), Norwich (1st)
Relegated: Cardiff (6th season), Huddersfield (5th), Hull (4th), Sunderland (1st), Luton (1st)
