Amongst all the hatred and negative comments towards BUVP ,I have a lot to thank it for. I met many friends on there over the last 10 years virtually none that I knew before. It was helpful in getting and supplying tickets for people as well as other benefits. It even benefitted me in business getting me several new clients and I also got employment for a few BU users. It helped me sort all sorts of different problems out which would have taken hours otherwise ,from travel and holiday tips to where to getting the best chips in Glasgow. I think the much talked about Clique never existed ,I never came across it anyway ,and despite serving several bans I always found Webbo a decent amiable bloke. I will certainly miss Blade United but hope ALL the BU family turn up on here eventually as this looks a well looked after, welcome new home.

As mainly a lurker on BU, i'm glad the likes of yourself and Bert have turned up on here. I've been a member of several forums in the past, Blades Forums and General Football ones, and this is by far the best in terms of content, users, etc that i have found, i hope the influx of users such as yourself only enhances it.

Foxy and Linz do a fantastic job with this site, ths new members joining should be a credit to them and not just because BU has ceased.

Thanks to BladesUnited

I'd like to say that BU will be missed. Was on there for many years mainly as a reader but found it overall OK. Was on SUSIA site before then so forums have been in my life for more years than I can remember.

Thought BU had lost it's way at the end and the build up to the new season was a little slow but the sale of the two K's did over shadow eveything.

Have been a member on here for a few years a well but haven't posted or been active for about two years.

Has Darren joined or has he actually been working for the last two days!

Like I've said elsewhere, I've also got to thank BU... because despite the fact that Foxy and I live around the corner from each other and went to the same schools, without BU we might never have spoken.

Thus we'd probably not be engaged and also, this site might not exist in the way it now does.

BU used to be a lot of fun in the old days, when United were a middling club with few aspirations. We all knew we were crap but we were Blades regardless. I think since 2003 and the amazing season we had then, everyone's got a little giddy and some people have got it into their heads that we aren't achieving unless we're in Europe... this led to a split between the old stalwarts who've pretty much given up hope for the Blades, and this new, younger and more excitable fan who's bought into the Sky hype and will be jumping around until we get to the top of the Premiership.

For the record, even us younger ones around here are pretty cynical... but in a nice, grumbling Yorkshire kind of way.

We pretty much know that United are crap, but we love the club all the same :D

I'm also sad with the passing of BladesUnited, but I just hope that it had nothing to do with the club, or the club's management team.

But I must admit, I'm impressed with this site.

In Sitwell's message it mentioned Glasgow, which reminded me of the very poignant blogg by Original Glasgow about the death of his father. Maybe that's a section that could be added here, a Condolence section. Just a thought.

Nice idea TB. Foxy and Linz are very open to new ideas, so i'm sure they'll consider it

I too was a BU member more reader than contributor but always enjoyed it, joined this forum other month and although its been quiet it seems a nice place, hope the influx doesn't change the mood on here and that the admins can cope!

I share the sentiments. Though I did find, particularly last season, that the atmosphere was taking a bit of a turn for the worse, and I'm sure that must have been part of Step's decision to call and end to the forum. I doubt it would have been fun to have moderated in the last year.

I am trying to get used to this format. Having used BU, Viewpoints before it, SUISA before that, and the very very old sufc.co.uk messageboard, I've become trapped to the Windmill style! I haven't got a clue what half the stuff on the left-hand side of the screen is telling me....

As a watcher not a member of BU due to joining restrictions I would have to agree that it was not all bad as some seem to think. The match reports were excellent, some of posts when relatives had died were very moving. It just needed more contributors to widen the discussion.

Anyway onwards and upwards, this forum has already impressed me with its ease to join etc

Try as i might, i just cant get out of the habit of clicking 'favourites - Bladesunited' in between popping onto other websites.

Never really posted much on there, although more recently as Flea Pit Blade, but it has always been a regular click in my years of internetery since the days of 28k dial up and was always the first place i checked in for my fix of United to break up the long days infront of my desk.

I know exactly what you mean - although I had the presence of mind to change the shortcut on the Firefox toolbar so that I remembered to come back this morning.

BU comes in for some bad press - but it's nowhere near as black as it's painted. Having watched some of the back-biting and bitchiness on other United sites, it might have got childish - possibly bordering on 'cliquey', but never as bad as other sites.

I actually joined this site 12 months ago with a different alias (can't remember it) but I never got into the habit that I got into with BU and VP before it. I was extremely grateful to find it was still here as it has the same level of general blades banter without the childish resort to abuse the moment someone expresses an alternative view - I actually think that some of the 'clique' accusations come from people defending others when exactly this sort of thing reared it's head on BU.

I hope this site continues to provide the "that's where I was when I found out about ..." memories that BU and VP managed. 9/11 broke on VP before I could find it on any news channel and most recently found out the sad news about Sir Bobby on BP.

I shall miss BU but not the idiots. Happily it seems most of them have migrated to a site largely populated by teenagers who drink lager and treat the English language with contempt.

For the record, I am a passionate enthusiast for real ale and proper football. I greatly admire Nick Montgomery.

So this is where everybody's been hiding!

Like others, I suppose I'll miss BU but it was ridiculously easy to get banned from.

Better layout here & hopefully won't get hijacked by the usual suspects.

Good point last night and, er, that's it! (Just posting any old drivel as I've had a 'mare registering & just wanted to check I could post).

The poster formally known as steirer.
