Gone Elsewhere Teemu Pukki

He talks of looking forward to a new challenge in his statement. That to me suggests he's got something lined up already.

It'll be a reunion with Farke in Germany or MLS, IMO.

Fwiw, here's the Norwich announcement.

He looked like a man ready to depart on Saturday. I thought it at the time, and perhaps being beaten by his favourite team (again) pushed him over the edge.

Since he signed, H2H - P7 W0 D2 L5

I didn't realise til you posted this that he wasn't part of that infamous Shithouse game at the Lane.

If he'd sign for a year, maybe, but I'm sure he'll be after a longer contract.

If we go up next season, we need to buy for the future.

Fucking better players than him with PL experience, buy better than a relegated every year striker..

I agree we need a older experienced striker on the way down ( like vardy - but not vardy) but that isn't pukki.. He's no better than sharp.. He really isn't

Who would you go for as the experienced striker?

I have absolutely why some people still rate Pukki and repeatedly suggest he be signed. He has not performed for 2 seasons now and has looked poor this season.

Not itk but hearing rumours we may be taking him on a free..

Conflicted about this one 😕

If we are working to a small budget then (and I know I'm probably in a minority here) I think he would do ok at the Lane. Maybe not the same player he was but he's still relatively young (32?) and has been in the PL before and scored goals. He's a younger version of our own King Billy but with more pace these days. Wages obviously and he wouldn't be my first choice but if we have to spend our money elsewhere and it buys time whilst we develop Jebbo and Osula for 12 months then so be it. He might just need a new challenge. That said I think he will go overseas at this stage of his career.

Depending on the length of the contract, he's a decent Sharpalike. Wouldn't want to give him more than a couple of years though, it's clear he's on a downward trajectory, all be it not a particularly steep one.

Agree he'd not be a terrible Sharp replacement, considering the probable budget limitations. Might be a canny pick up.

However, he's struggled in latter stages of this season and he is 33 already. It wouldn't be the ideal signing.

A goal every 4.5 games at Championship level this season...
Not exactly awe inspiring but it doesn't seem we have a pot to piss in (again).

Would rather we went for Carlton Morris if we're looking to be a yo-yo club but that level of ambition seems beyond us.

Huh?! So why did we make the effort to get promoted?!

Agreed I do like Morris. Feel sure we'd have signed him if we weren't poor last summer.

Not the player he was a couple of years ago but he’s cheap and low risk and knows how to score. Could be good business on a short term deal, he still improves us

He's cheaper than cheap.. he's free.

Still can't help but be underwhelmed tho

Low wages, short contract as opposed to an Adam Armstrong or a Che Adams who may or may not perform in the Prem but also financially ruin us on high transfer fees and high wages on long deals

Pace! We need pace in the PL, in all areas, but particularly up front. Don't think he was ever the quickest but surely on the decline at his age? We need to have a threat on the counter next season. We are going to be pinned back where a punt into the channel to clear our lines is going to be used a lot. Need someone who can get on the end of it. Don't think Pukki is that guy.

If we can keep Ndiaye then Pukki would be a good addition imo, gives us another option to McBurnie and hopefully the both keep each other on their toes. The lack of a fee helps us prioritise spend in other areas, we desperately need midfielders

I think Pukki has struggled in an incredibly shit Norwich team this season. Personally think he'd be a cracking signing, especially when I run him through my Burke-ometer.

I'd imagine we might find ourself playing with a single out and out striker occasionally. Billy just isnt up to it any more, Osula and Jebbo are risky and not there yet. Pukki 100% bags double figures at prem level still, and he's a free agent.

Pukki is almost 5 years younger than Billy.
As hard as it is to say, that's an improvement for next season.
If we get an on loan striker that is an upgrade on McBurnie as well we are moving in the right direction.
