Really big game now after not winning in last 3... a bit similar to the Oxford game at the end of August although obviously in far better circumstances... still a must-win though.

Looks like nobody did enough today to force themselves into starting line up - so I'd go for:

- - - - - -- - - - - - -- - Moore
- - - -EEL - - - -- - Wright - - - O'Connell
Freeman - - -Coutts - - Fleck - -- - - Lafferty
- - -- - - - -- - - - -- - Duffy
- - -- - - - - -- Sharp - -- - Done

Subs: Ramsdale, Basham, Hussey, Scougall, Brooks, Lavery, Clarke

I agree, although I didn't feel like correcting my auto correct.

3-4-1-2

More
FEEL - Weight - O'Donnell
Freemans - Courts - Click - Rafferty
- Duffy's -
Sharon - Some

Subs: Randall, Bashan, Gusset, Southall, Brook's, Slavery, Clark's

Manager: Christmas Wilderness

Team picks itself apart from Sharps strike partner. Stick with Done for the first hour and then bring on Clarke if the oppo are just camped in their own box or Lavery/Scougall if we're seeing a game out.

Not sure on a lafferty, Hussey looked alot better today than in previous games but I'd play Duffy left and Scougs just behind Sharp and Done.
I think the speed and nimbleness of these 3 around Sharp will draw defenders and leave Sharp abit of space in the danger areas??
Who knows, but if he plays Clarke he needs his head looking at!

Stick with the front two that's the most successful (Sharp/Done) and the back three (EEL, Wright and JOC) that looks the strongest and most comfortable. Nowt against Bash, he is very important to our squad but we need to play to the teams strengths and not just try and accommodate him no matter what.

-----------------Moore

---------EEL Wright O'Connell

Freeman------------------------Hussey

------------Coutts------Fleck

--------------------Duffy

------------Sharp------Lavery

Hussey looked better than the last time I saw him (which wasn't difficult to be honest) but for me he offers less than Lafferty. For all talk of him having one of the best left feet in the division, his delivery today was generally very poor. Lafferty will generally get himself into better positions, and has a better engine on him. Don't get me wrong, Lafferty has been patchy of late too, but I wouldn't be looking to bring Hussey back in anytime soon ahead of him.

I don't see how Hussey or Lavery are in anyway worth a place in the starting line-up, they're two of the worst players in the entire first team squad.

Lafferty's been off form and at home I think we should give Hussey a chance to show what he can do going forward in a team dominating possession.

Lavery's getting sharper and I think he could work better with Sharp than Clarke. It's ridiculously early to be writing him off.

If Wright is fit then most of the team picks itself.

Sharps strike partner is the quandary, I would go back to Done as it's been the one that had the most wins, Lavery not done enough in his admittedly limited time to get ahead of him, Clarke has been a big disappointment in the last fortnight.

I think Lafferty is crap in truth, Slow. Never goes past a man and always a plays a boring backwards ball. If on loan which I think he is,bin him and get better with pace.
We so lack pace it's untrue. Better than Clough and Adkins but still fucking second gear attacking.

For home games I don't think we should be playing 5 defenders. We should go back to 4-4-2 at home.
I know Done doesn't score as much as he should but I feel the team overall looks better with him in the side. I hope Clarke can find form, but right now he needs benching I think. Going down to 2 CBs I think Wright pips O'Connel to a starting place and Chapman is worthy of a start too.

--------------Moore
Freeman EEL Wright Lafferty
Chapman Fleck Coutts Duffy
------------Done ---Sharp

Eurgh just found out about Chapman.

4-3-1-2 then with Scougall in the hole.

3 shots on target at Bolton and 2 of them were goals.
From 62% possession.
Clear that the attacking play and or attacking players is/are deficient
Done misses a lot of chances and scores none.
Billy misses a lot of chances , including penalties , but scores a lot.
Done does pull defences apart with his running.
Billy running ? Are you serious ? Done does his share and Billy's.
As a later post says , Billy is a shitliner with a knack of scoring but no pace.
Both of them are half a striker and both are short & so don't trouble defences in the air.
Clarke is tall and won every header against Walsall but Billy was too far away to capitalise on it because to play off a tall striker he would have to run around and keep up with him. Not Billy's game at all.
Logic would suggest Clarke/Done or Clarke/Lavery but how can you exclude the top scorer ?
So why on earth did the extremely knowledgeable manager buy Clarke ?
It's not as if Clarke is young enough to replace Billy , he is older and thus a short-term fix.
However many goals he's scored with previous clubs and however many headers he wins for us , he was not an appropriate purchase for us if Billy was scoring well - maybe he was bought in case Billy had a goal drought and could be dropped ? So forget combining Clarke & Billy.
We are therefore in a total quandry in the striker dept.
The pigs went up with a team of thugs.
Bolton will go up with a team of thugs.
It's too late this season for us to convert to a team of thugs.
But what we desperately lack is PACE to complement our possession.
We could beat thugs with possession and the PACE required to create better quality chances resulting in more shots on target.
When Chapman came on last Tuesday he provided exactly that , and we looked a much better team.
Now he's injured and on crutches.
I accept we have to cover the loss of EEL in January , but we MUST get some PACE into the side.
We will never go up playing the way we did against Walsall before Chapman came on , because we build up far too slowly to give defences a problem.
But if we could zip in fast low crosses from the byline , Billy would put plenty of them in.
As long as he had enough breath to keep up with the crosser.
