Good chance to experiment, but we'll also look play a strong team with our next league game being 11 days later.

We could look at playing a similar way to last Tuesday but with Basham in the side. Playing this way will also keep Walsall guessing about how we'll set up in the league game, where I'd expect us to go 3-5-2. We could take another look at Chapman up front, partly because we're thin on the ground there but partly because he could be a better option there than what we've got. Done could probably do with a rest too, same with Coutts. Wilson's due a game, as is Hussey. Starting six from yesterday's line up avoids the pathetic fine.

Interesting line up Ricky, but I think you would have to swap Fleck and Basham. Have Fleck playing the Coutts role, in front of the defenders, to bring the ball out, and have Bash further up, to give us height in the middle of the park, with Duffy and Scougs both having the abilty to go further forward.

Possibly, but other than Duffy I think Fleck's our best goalscoring hope from midfield. So I'd like him in a position to get forward more. I fancied him to score yesterday and he nearly did, from the sort of position I want to see him taking up regularly - arriving on the edge of the box when the ball's out wide.

Agree mate, and as long as we play ball-along-the-floor, that would work, any punts over the top would be an issue though with the lack of heght

What are the rules regarding this stupid cup?

Fleck should play every game, he's the one who looks most likely to set up a goal for me, that pass to done early on in the first half really should have been put away

Absolutely hideous that they impose any selection based rules when they're forcing everybody to play at least three games in the competition. It was bad enough in the first place.

If we can beat Walsall we will go top 2, it's getting exciting!

Seriously tho it'd serve them right if the u23s all got through to the last 16 and make it a complete shambles

The fact that Reading and Blackburn can enter an U23' is a piss take in itself, like either of them warant this. I would field our U23's against them and take the fine.

Chapman's away on international duty, which is just fucking fantastic.

Our under 23s side would do quite well in this cup.

____Basham Whiteman J.Wallace

___________J.Wright (Jnr)

We can't afford to risk injury to key players in this stupid, worthless competition.

Fuck the fine for this bag of shit competition.

Given that we now can't give the fringe player like Ramsdale and chapman a go since they are away. It makes the completion even more pointless.

No point risking our only right back on freeman.

I'd play some of he following -

Long
Wilson
Kelly
Brown
Hussey
Brooks
Whiteman
Scouggs

Chrissy at right back. Knilly in the net!

Who cares.

Is the fine £5k?

The team has been announced, my guess at how they line up:

Brown Wilson O'Connell Hussey

- - - - - - Basham Fleck - - - - - - -

- - - Brooks Duffy Scougall - - -

Was going to post exactly the same!

The lack of striking options and desire to play certain players has prompted a switch to 4-2-3-1. Can't see how it'll be anything else.

Could maybe be Basham at wing back, brown at centre half and Brooks behind Done?

I won't be there tonight but I'm so glad Brooks has a chance tonight, I look forward to a report on him from anyone who goes. He has all the talent in the world this lad.

One day he'll actually play Whiteman. Probably in 2018.

I'm at the game.

Basically I've learnt so far that Reece Brown has a good long throw and can put in a decent cross but looks suspect defensively (at fault for goal).

I've also learnt, similar to Fleetwood, that whilst we are putting crosses in the right areas, we are really lacking an ariel threat. Note that Landell wouldn't normally challenge an open play header as he did at Fleetwood, circumstance had him in the box.

Wilder needs to try and get more pace and power into the squad in January. We're also vulnerable in terms of numbers up front. He said after the Fleetwood game that he wanted to rest Done and Sharp tonight, but there were no one else to pick.
