Assuming Scougall and Flynn are injured, Collins is out in the wilderness and Done is fit...

I'd go for:

- - - - - - - - - Turner
Brayford Kennedy Basham Harris
JCR Reed Doyle Murphy
- - - - - - - - Baxter
- - - - - - - - McNulty

Subs: Howard, McEveley, Coutts, Davies, Adams, Done, De Girolamo

My rationale: Turner deserves a chance, maybe Howard could do with being dropped for a bit. Kennedy has done really well when he has played. Midfield I've picked looks a bit dodgy but it's at least attacking and I think fans will need to see that tonight... Baxter included even though he has been poor lately as maybe he could produce a goal... Done on bench as he can't be fully fit yet - Adams and DeG at least provide options if getting desperate in 2nd half!!

Must say it's so hard to pick a team at the moment which shows how out of form Utd are....

Any thoughts?

Yeah mate! decent side that is. Howard deserves the drop after the amount of free kicks weve conceded.

But, in stead of Baxter, id put Done there and change it to a standard 4-4-2

With Cloughs words ringing in my ears about using more experience, but then praising Reed, i reckon the below is tonights lineup:

Howard
Brayford--Basham--McEveley--Harris
Doyle
Coutts--Reed
JCR-----------------------------------Murphy
Done

Subs: Turner, Kennedy, Freeman, Baxter, Davies, Adams, McNulty

I'm going for

Howard
Freeman Brayford Basham Harris
Davies Coutts Doyle Murphy
McNulty Done

Subs Turner,JCR,Diego,Alcock,McEverley,Holt,Baxter

Yeah I know...4-4-2 so I am being stupid :-)

2 Done facts:

- I was told (and a casual glance at soccerbase seems to bear this out) is that aside for when he was suspended, Done played every Rochdale game this season before his transfer save for the Capital One cup game. In other words, he was completely injury free until he signed for us.

- Done this season: 23 league games, 10 league goals
- Done before this season: 242 league games, 10 league goals

hmmm....

Is it pronounced 'Doane' or 'Dun' ????

Answer to that conundrum: change of position

Turner
Brayford Basham McEverley Harris
JCR. Doyle Reed/Couts Murphy
Done McNulty/Adams
4-4-2 no Baxter and the no.10 nonsense and attack a poor side

Turner
Brayford Kennedy Basham Freeman
JCR Davies Coutts Adams
Done Murphy

Subs:- Howard, McCevely, Doyle, Reed, Baxter, McNulty, Higdon

New look defence. Howard, Harris and McCeveley are all off form and look like they need taking out of the firing line.
Traditional 4-4-2 with plenty of creativity, pace and goalscoring potential.
Attack from the start and have a go at outscoring the opposition, not containing them.

No disrespect to the people on this thread, but not one of you will get tonights team right and it's not for the one of trying either, that's what i'm predicting, good luck.:)

I'm picking what I think the team should be.
ie dropping players in awful form, not just picking them because they were mates from Derby!
We all know Clough will f!!! up.
He's trying to loan out one of the players I've picked.

Howard
Brayford Magahey Kennedy Harris
Adams Basham Done Reed Murphy
McNulty

Legs, enthusiasm and attacking intent throughout - plus more height!

JCR and Diego on the bench.
Cully?
To be used FFS!

Higdon is injured apparently.

Ugh there's a football match? Since it seems so, my team:

Howard

Brayford, Basham, Kennedy, Harris

Doyle, Reed

Flynn, Murphy, JCR

McNulty

Doyle HAS to play.

Its been proven time and time again in this league, we play better with him in the eleven.

Other than Doyle's inclusion only other thing I would like to see is a chuffing positive approach!

How do you get a real positive approach with Doyle in your side? Coutts did a good job Saturday and should keep his spot. Not one of them goals on Saturday would have been prevented had Doyle been played, so no, we didn't lose on Saturday because Doyle didn't play. Lets get some creativity in there and Coutts will offer a lot more than Doyle in that aspect of the game.

It's not about the goals though it is about attitude and drive which Doyle gives us. Baxter and Reid were out battled and out muscled on Saturday and there was no one in the centre of the park to drive/bollock or encourage them. With Doyle in the side,Reid, Adam and Murphy would have been able to push further on as they had protection. Because he didn't play,it was like a knife through butter at times

I think they had about 8 or 9 shots Gillingham in the entire game and 4 of those were in the last ten minutes when Coutts was tiring. I honestly think we need to look at other avenues rather than playing Doyle that offers absolutely Zilch in the way of creating chances, Coutts can do a lot lot more.

Howard

Brayford - Tel - Bash - Harris

-------------- Doyle --------------

JCR ----- Baxter ------ Murphy

McNulty ---- Done

Some will call it 4-1-3-2 others 4-4-2 but that team looks strong enough to me and has goals in it. You could rotate Murphy, Done and Baxter throughout. 5 defensive and 5 attacking players so pretty balanced but looks attacking as hell and opposition teams will fear that line up. If the front 5 players press high and hard I can see us rolling teams over.

I think it will be

Howard,

Brayford, Mceverly, Basham, Harris

JCR, Baxter, Coutts, Doyle, Murpy

Done.

I don't think you can have Baxter as one of the midfield pair in a 4-4-2. Bergen Blade did analysis on the weekend game which suggests he'd really struggle in that role and I'd tend to agree.

Just for Wiz..... Doyle plus 10 others :)
Twat:D

Right, aslong as we have 5 attacking players on we will get away with playing him but i honestly believe we need to look at other avenues as Doyle propably won't be here next season. zablade s' team isn't a bad one although i'd play Kennedy for McEveley. And i'd swap Murpy for Murphy :)

Howard

Bray Bash Ted Bob

Reed Coutts

JCR Adams Murphy

Done

Let's have a good old go for a change. Chances of this side? Zero.

Was just about to post my XI then you got there in front of me. If anything I think we may see this but with McNulty in for Adams with Done playing off him.

6-0 Blades.

Awooga.
