Taylor

I think i'd sooner have Del boy in than Taylor. However Geary really struggled in the FA cup game away at QPR. He was all over the place in the 1st half. That said he improved as the game went on. Also his positional sense is pretty good. Taylor's is woeful. Taylor is an absolute laibility and shouldn't be let anywhere near the first team.

Dont get me started on Taylor. He's the worst full back ive ever seen at the Lane in the 20 years ive been going.

I agree Ollesendro. Geary would be a much better option at left back. If we can get Naysmith fit, even better.

Part of the problem is Blackie feeling embarrassed that nearly all his signings this season have been shyte.
He probably feels obliged to play at least a couple of them to save face.

He may turn out good long term but at the moment he is a complete liability. Physically weak, slow and looks extremely nervous. Can't be arsed to piss about with the wank BladesWorld to try and watch the highlights but it seemed to me that he was at fault for both goals.

Take him out of the firing line and put Geary in there until Naysmith returns (WHEN?) or we sign Naughton.

 so play stewart and evans. Anyone but that liability.

Look if Naysmith and Geary arent ready I will play fucking left back. I am a decent centre half/centre mid with no left foot but I could make a better job of it than him! I can tackle for a start!

Is it just me or is it the case that since about January 2006 - the start of Warnock's unnecessary tinkering - a higher percentage of signings than usual have failed to impress?

Perhaps it's because we sign so many players, and quantity over quality is not the way to go.

I may be wrong about this but there seem to be very few players signed in that span who have been unqualified successes...

I'm sure there is an element of truth to this. But why persits with someone who is shite when we have other options. Stewart is not a good defender, but he is quick and undoubtedly better than Taylor.

Why is it that KB seems to have certain favourites that play regardless of performances? Blackie refuses to drop Taylor, yet also refuses to give his other signings (Reid and Little) half a chance to get anywhere near the team.

ha ha :D

I've got a few weeks of leave, so I'll get me sen up to Shirecliffe in prep for playing left back. Art least until Del and Naysnith are fit.

I'm big, fat and shit. An 18 stone, beer swilling, pie muncher. In addtion to that I have never played football in my life and can't kick with my left foot. Still, I hazard a guess I'll do better than our very own chocolate fireguard Andrew Taylor!?

p.s. Lou, do you genuinly think he is worst than Paul Beesly???! ;)

I don't know about Lou but for me he isn't fit to lace Beez's boots.

Beez wasn't a left back but put in some sterling service for us at CB and could fill in at LB if required. Taylor is a specialist LB who looks like he's filling in.

I presume he was a bit of a gap filler because we expected Naysmith back sooner than this and he has had to play more than Blackwell would have wanted.

Paul Beesly looks like Paulo Maldini in comparison to Andy Taylor. He's an awful awful player - dreadful in fact. I have a seizure every time he touches the ball. The only person that is a bigger bag of nerves than Taylor when he gets the ball - is me!

lol.

I remember I had a season ticket in the kop in the early/mid 90's and a guy behind me used to sing 'there's only one Pauly Beesly' in a very sarcastic tone. It wasn't you was it Lou?! ;) I never to this day thought that 'the Beez Kneez' (the guys other nick name for him) would ever be described to Paulo Maldini!? Juts shows how terrible Taylor is.

Having said all that Tails won the game against Boro with the best cross of the match.

Hey Lenners, stick him on the right instead of Walker. less long balls and better delivery:D Ouch.

Correction. Cresswell won the game against Boro by bravely getting on the end of Taylors cross. Not taking anything awayfrom Maldini though ... it was a great ball.

Lol no prob wasnt me. Sarcaism was probably lost on me back then. I would have been about 8-10 years old :p

Although I remember Beesly quite well. Taylor is a fair bit worse and that does say a lot.

Didn't go to Bolton but by all acounts our best attacker seems to have been young Kyle.
Not surprised he'd be the most at home against Prem opposition.

You still think i don't like him. I THINK HE IS GREAT. Hope he's cut out his long ball game for tmoz. Although if Yeates starts his desire to supply could get the better of him.

You can't have remembered much over them past 20 years to think Taylor is the worst full back you've seen, we've had some shockers.

Topping that pile is Blades legend Nicolas Weber. Saw him opening day of the season away at Preston and he was laughably bad. Chris Wilder comes a close runner up to Nicolas' crown.

I don't think Taylor is good enough, and a lot will depend on what we're planning on doing with Naysmith. I've defended Taylor on here before but it doesn't seem that he's learning from his mistakes. Take the first goal on Saturday and you'll see that he gets sucked into the middle leaving acres out on the left hand side which their full back exploits easily. There was enough cover in the centre for him to hold his position but he seems hell bent on getting pulled about everywhere.

Far too often he gives his winger too much time, to the point where the man can pick out a player in the middle without as much as a challenge.

However, if we keep Naysmith then he should prove to be a good tutor for him as they appear to be very similar players, and in that time he'd make decent back up.

For now though I'd stick Stewart in.

Sarcasm has a habit of not showing up well on message boards. However, you are joking with this aren't you?

I'm bloody not no! Ok in the 1st spell, horrendous in the 2nd. You could read the same for Wayne Quinn also.

Mark Blount was also a classic full back.

Mark Beard.

We've had a lot of crap full backs in the last 20 years.

Ahh, the second spell. Bloody hell, we dragged him out of retirement for that.

Down at number 3 in my all time best right back list for his first spell, and in particular, the string of performances when he came into the side and was instrumental in our survival in the 90/91 campaign.

Mark Blount is in my all time shit list (2nd behind Tony Moores for the RB slot).

Thought Quinny was great in his first spell. Given he was selected for England B at the time he must have impressed others too - including Bobby Robson who IMO took him to Newcastle and ruined him.

How is it an attempt to stand up for Blackwell?

These are the exact reasons we purchased him are they not?

Believe it or not, not everything has to be an attack or defence of the manager.

Paid to state the obvious? come on? Still, I'm glad you value my input and opinion so.

Pray, tell.... What do you think our reasons for purchasing him were?

It's all about the manager, we've had 641 versions of the same bloody post :D

I thought he was best player on the pitch by a considerable margin.

We've had quite a few average ones but none worse than Taylor in my time. Im sorry but Wayne Quinn and Chris Wilder were miles better than him, even if they did go through dodgy spells.

The manager is a reasonably important person at a football club Brammers.

I know the rolleyes effort is meant to convey the humour in your post, and this could be easily construed as a touhcy response, but it's a Monday, in January, and I want to stress I am happy to talk about anything SUFC related. I clearly dislike KB immensely as a manager and mention it alot, but I do try mostly to relate my take on things in a sensible, interesting (to me anyway) yet debate inducing manner.

No worries.

whos was your top 2?

I only started watching United in 1992 so have had less exposure. Vas, Gage and Bradshaw (hands down winner) would probably be my top 3.

Len Badger was head and shoulders above anything I've seen and Jags sits at number two with Kyle N and Wilder a joint third. Cec Coldwell completes the top 5.

Vas was great but in a wing back sort of role rather than a conventional RB (and I would say exactly the same for Quinny across the other side). Great going forward but not up to being a "proper" full back defensively.
I like Bradders and Gagey but Bradders was a bit headstrong for me and Gagey was a little way past his best by the time we landed him (now there is a list to be considered!).
