Do you know exactly what Birch did whilst employed buy the Club?

I certainly don't.

It's easy to make ill-informed comments when you don't know any facts.

(I'm not defending Birch or his salary; it seems a lot of money, but then I never met the guy, or McCabe either. Maybe he was working his socks off behind the scenes. Maybe he was doing very little. I just don't know so I wouldn't make accusations).

£400,000 a year Salary, the Redundancy Payment, and the achievments just roll off the Tongue, epic

we should let them off ,in fact we should let anyone who owes us money off ,go out of business and all start supporting worksop town who apparantley dont have to pay any of their debts so surely should be the next real madrid
Worksop, the next Real Madrid. Surely not. The Wendy did very well out of not paying their debts and we all know that they will be the next Real Madrid.

Chasing Worksop Town for a £3000-00 debt - Go and see the idiot that arranged contracts for Monty, Simmo, Cresswell and Birch etc - He's obviously got more money than sense - he will sort it out!
Come on United -get real - the debt was run up when Worksop had no home, no infrastructure, no hope !
We have wasted so much money in the last few years - realistically what is £3k -Monday and Tuesday wages for Monty - enough said!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Wrong ,Worksop had a very rich chairman and we supported them , playing friendlies ,hiring their ground , loaning players. They chose to avoid paying a debt for 4 years . If you didn't pay your mortgage or gas bill for 4 years accumulating 3k should British Gas or Abbey National not bother because they are a big company ?

Sorry Sitters! I just think that no matter how wealthy the chairman is, was, has been, £3k is just not worth it! The bad press it invites just adds to our already bad reputation re: legalities, suing culture etc
We in the lower echelons of football decry the attitude of the Premiership 'Elite' and their apparant disdain for lower league football, the attitude to attacting young prospects from lower league acadamies etc, their obscene wealth, [players wages and transfer fees yet we are doing the same to a club far lower down the spectrum than we are currently!
Because McCabe has pissed up the wall such millions over the past few years doesn't make us the equivalent of such clubs like Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and the like!!!

the lawyers luv things like this ......................... bread n butter n cake for em ............

Dispute of £3k ...................... legal fee's both sides orbiting Saturn !

You shaft them .........we'll shaft the others.

Real Madrid can only dream of becoming as massive as Wendy ;)

Alternatively we drop it and write off the debt.

Cue every single debtor under £3k refusing to pay what they owe to us.

Madness.

Its been in the Worksop Guardian so was more likely released by Worksop.

Understood, but, what were doing playing there Pre-Season if they owed SUFC money from 3 years ago.

If you keep supplying, when there are debts over 3 years old, you dont deserve to be paid.

You really dont .....

Got some Wendys on my Facebook giving it large, saying we're taking Worksop Town to court over an unpaid bill of £3,000 from 2007, and are now requesting 50% of the gate receipts from the friendly this pre-season.

Any of you guys know anything about it? Hope it's not the case.

Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere else in this thread, but the demand of 50% of the gate receipts from the Worksop pre-season friendly was not unique to WTFC

I understand that the pre-season friendly due to take place with Mansfield Town was cancelled by Mansfield themselves due to similar demands by the club.

The statement from United's FD hints that we only played the friendly this season in order to generate money for them to pay us with.

If that's correct it just shows that Worksop (like Mansfield) were made well aware of the financial arrangements beforehand.
They willingly took the friendly and now want to keep all the money, including what they already owed us, for themselves.

Don't get carried away with the notion that Worksop are some small time lovable village club ,they have been run by small time crookes on the make in the past with a series of dodgy characters from board members ,managers and players involved. They still don't have a home ,their ground is owned by Parramores ,a club based outside the worksop area and they rent it for matches. I know a player who has warmed the bench on many occasions and collected his £75 match fee without a hope in hell of getting a game but his 'face fits' ,I have far better players at Kiveton. Football is rife with corruption from junior level to the biggest in the world and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

personally i think it is pathetic.. mind you i thought sueing west ham was pathetic as well.. it just brings shame on the club

yeah good point we would have been much better off being another £20m in debt

anyone seen the 20mill?.. do you think we'll get a refereeing decision in the next 20 years?

in most businesses , 3 year old debts are subject to interest
we gave them an over generous amount of time to cough up

all businesses have to chase debt
Id bet money the owls banqueting facility have had to resort to chasing similar sized debts

The fact its Worksop Town is neither here or there

Ditto. Nice to see that 'angry Wednesday fans' have chosen to pay the Worksop debt. I wonder if it was Forest or Leeds would they have given a shit? I very much doubt it.

Shame they couldn't find their wallets to pay the plumbers, pieman, painters and a bunch of other small businesses while their club was getting away with trading in insolvancy for more than a year. Wankers...

But they haven't undertaken to pay the Worksop debt:
"The Owls fans are raising money that they will donate to charity in Tigers’ honour as a gesture of their support, with Macmillan Cancer Support and Sheffield Children’s Hospital benefitting."

Bizarre!

I'm absolutely sure that's been changed since I first read the story yesterday.
It seems some of the more astute Wednesday fans have finally realised that they were donating money directly for our benefit.
Either that or Worksop told them to p*** off and stop being so patronising.

Some are reporting that the WTFC chairman said he wouldn't accept the money.

Let the fuck faced fuckers get on with it. If they'd have put as much effort in over the past 10 years, they could have cleared the £25m they owed to the co - op. And they say we're bitter...........

To hear them now they never have been or never will be in debt. The co op didnt write off the money they owed as the savior paid everything (except his taxes) for them. I am so glad Im a blade and not one of the deluded ones

>I hope that was tongue in cheek ...wasn't it ?
firmly.. :D at last someone with a sense of humour.. i still think it's a bit pathetic.. 'below our station' as they used to say

At a meeting of the club i'm involed in last night, I was told one of our officials sons is signing for Worksop, going straight in to the 1st team squad. I was told by his father that the minimun payment they make for a match appearance is £350.
If that is true then they are not so badley off after all.
