Citeh Fans.....

Every Man City fan I spoke to was absolutely sound. I got the impression they are very wary of being seen as arrogant and try to play down how good they are. I was really surprised to hear of scuffles because it all seemed to good natured before and after.

People slag off the celebration for the goals but this wasn't a big occasion for them. We can't imagine what it's like to expect to comfortably win a semi final. I think their numbers were great seeing as they knew they would going back to Wembley in a month for a likely all Manchester final.

I also think our numbers were good. Most had just paid out for a season ticket the week before and it was a game we knew we were never going to win. I know fans who said if we did pull off the shock they would have gone to the final as we haven't got to one in most our lifetimes but a semi final or a Wembley trip in itself isn't the draw for us that many neutrals seen to think it is.

Always wary of making generalisations about fans, but the City folk I bumped into were so relaxed. Their mindset must have changed drastically in the last 15 years.

Also interesting to hear how many saying they weren’t bothered about the CL. There’s a definite old school / new school divide developing there.

Surely they want to better Man Utd. I'd have thought Champions League wins are top priority especially if they want to retain Pep as manager as well.

I've seen a good bit of whinging about the behaviours of our own fans, having witnessed a bit of supidity myself from a minority.. But the Citeh fans pre match, I can honestly say that it was a pleasure to share a pint with some of the ones I met over in Baker Street.

Whilst The Globe was full of drunken blady-ness, drugs, sex and rock and roll.... The Wetherspoons over the road and just a stones throw away, had somewhat of a more laid back atmosphere. A large percentage of the crowd in Spoons were blades, however a number of City fans were spotted around the place as well.

The pub probably demostrated a side of football that doesn't get the press it deserves. Little clusters of rival fans enjoying a chat, a laugh, a joke and light hearted banter....The blades sang songs and tried to coax songs out of the city lot, it was all in all just a solid footballing atmosphere.

Like i said before however, I had what I can only describe as the pleasure of sharing mid-pint conversation with a mixed age group of City fans. They were actually highly complimentary of us as a team, stating that they see us as more old fashioned and that in the PL, they remembered us giving them some of the toughest games going. They said that we are disciplined and really hard to break down, which our defensive record s shows to be true (whilst perhaps yesterdays scoreline didnt). One of them watched us against Cardiff on TV and said how dangerous we looked attacking, going on to drool about Ndiaye 😳😳 (I know, i was shocked with all the players at their disposal). He was saying how deceptively strong Ndiaye is for a slight build and how if he carries on he will end up at a top european club. One bloke was also saying how it would be nice to have us back in the Premier League and to have more local away matches, as he gets fed up of all the travelling.

I then accidentally insulted an old gentleman with a poorly thought out, drunken question. I obviously didnt mean to insult and my intent was genuine, but he took nark to it 😂😂

I just asked if he missed being the Old Man City basically.. a proper old fashioned club, playong football at an old fashioned ground....as opposed to the huge, global team that they are now. I mean it's not half bad being a team of global superstars is it? Plying your trade against Europes best all the time etc etc....But as seasoned fans, I wondered if he had any preference....

This was met with a very annoyed "what are you on about, were still city"... blah de blah. Obviously accidentally touched a nerve on that one.

But as a whole I guess the whole davod v goliath thing made for an interesting pre match atmosphere. It was nice to see that they didnt take us for granted and that they respected us as a club and as fans.

You know what, I genuinely hope they go on and win the treble.

We were in Allsop arms close to Baker St very quiet early on. Anyway in popped Paul Heckinbottom must have been for a piss, United hotel was only over road. Wayne quinn was in most of day.

Tourists - yes they are there, but nowhere near to the extent of United and Liverpool. That’s why they’ll always sell out Wembley. The club encourage tourists and actively sell to agencies and as part of flimsy corporate packages as it’s all about growing the fan base for them. Pretty frustrating when it comes to matches like Arsenal. It’s been sold out for six months, and any tickets returned on ticket exchange I’m pretty sure being sold with a meal in Manchester and the ticket prices inflated to 400 or 500 quid.

Not that I’m moaning - I’d have to be a prick to do that, we struck it lucky massively with what’s happened in the last 15 years everyone knows that.

I dunno, when we were in League One, I suspect most of us were guilty at some point of saying “we should be beating these” after having lost to some “little” club who were actually much better than us. Same as our illustrious neighbours are doing now, mistaking what you may have achieved in the past having any bearing on how things are today.
 
I like Man City as a whole, but it's not the same club as it was and personally if I was a City fan, although I'd love that they were now winning trophies I would much rather it but done on merit rather than money but obviously the two go hand in hand because you can only ever win the PL and compete in the top six year on year when you've spent some serious money. But it does seem to me that now it would almost be somewhat boring for many of their matches because the gulf in class is just too big. I don't envy them at all and love supporting a team like United that isn't self entitled to be up there based on size, it's much more interesting and also when we have success it means a lot more because it isn't the norm. So it's far from surprising to hear that their atmosphere isn't the same anymore, their ground is decent but it'll never have the atmosphere that Maine Road had and I'm so pleased we've never left Bramall Lane and I'm sure will never do so because we still have space to increase the capacity if required.
 
My in-laws are a big family of Mancs with Irish roots. Father in-law lovely bloke, big City fan, had ST for years but now only goes a couple of times a season. He was sat with us in the South at ballongate, hilarious.

I’ve been to with him to the Etihad in their ‘end’ a couple of times and the atmosphere was a bit flat even with (last time) them absolutely battering Villa and winning 4-0. My youngest went with his footy team this season and said there was no atmosphere compared to BDTBL, but I think he was mainly trying to wind his grandad up. Like others have said, I think their lack of pashun at Wembley reflects how (genuinely) massive, successful, and brilliant they are now, it’s simply not a big game for them.

Anyway, the in-laws are a small sample size, but...

The City fans are proper and those that can afford it go to games, are passionate, and some are pretty knowledgable about the Blades (esp Irish lads, esp Egan). One flies in from Australia, where she now lives, and prioritises getting to games over everything else when she can.

There are more Man U ‘fans’ but they are completely different. Generally sound people, but none go to games. They may wear shirts etc. but probably would struggle to name the team! I’ve been at family dos where I’m watching one of their games on the telly more intently than they are.

I can’t say I’ve ever met a plastic City fan, although I’m sure they exist. Almost every one of the loads of Man U ‘fans’ I’ve met has been plastic (as far as I know), but I’m sure there are plenty of ‘proper’ ones about.

Bottom line - City fans decent.
 

Got a mate who use to be an Old type City fan, and he is the best bloke I've ever met...........but whilst he loves his club he just loved being the underdog! Bless my mate! Do you remember Saun Goater?

I do insist on drinking punk when it’s available. So I'm not exactly bargain hunting and shouldn’t complain 😄
 
On the tube, some of our trog supporters began embarrassingly chanting "Erling Haaland is fucking shit", only to be shut down by city fans also chanting "Erling Haaland is fucking shit". All the worried faces on the tube began smiling.
 
Same as most have said on here, had nothing but positive experiences walking with Citeh fans to and from the game (Some sarcastic laughs and that nonsense but we aren't in the playground, easy to ignore)

I really don't get the our fans/their fans crap, pigs have been at it in full force about "how many fans were there" it's all childish BS, the only real measure was.... Citeh were a better team than us (Although I enjoyed watching some of the Blades passing more than theirs hehe)

When it matters we have made BDTBL an intimidating place for other teams and "officials" whether there are 30k or 5k, i'm there to be a part of that as it's all I can do as a fan. If other Blades or other teams don't want to then that's their choice, I personally feel like we make a difference a lot of the time and plenty of the players say we do too.
 
Congratulations on promotion folks, hope the heads weren’t to sore today. Our respective wins last night put Saturday’s semi final in perspective. Hopefully I’ll get a ticket for your place next season! Also think it would be good for Tommy and McAtee to spend another season with you to see if they can cut it in the top flight - all the best.

Yeah when your supposed ‘rivals’ for the premier league title take a 4-1 thumping, our 3-0 doesn’t look bad at all in comparison!
 
Like others on here met quite a few city fans. All really nice people who we had good chat and banter with both before and after game. We all hate Manure! Highlight was after the game we were walking towards Wembley Park station and at one point police stopped whole crowd to enable crowd in front to clear a bit. We were under a bridge. Mainly Blades fans but quite a few City as well. Blades fans were singing the JOC heading the brick chant. City fans then started joining in. They had no idea what it was about (though I did explain it to them after it had been going on for several minutes!). Just great atmosphere. Top fans.

Ah yeah after posting that I did remember something about that - if you could have one back who would it be? Think Doyle can influence games, but McAtee has that real quality that isn’t that easy to find
