Such unbridled hatred of the Prince!

Obsessed. Absolutely nothing new in that rant. Usual bollocks about buying the club for a quid (plus £5m now) before being about £12m out on other funding.

Ex journo if you read more on the site.

I stopped reading his pro KMC bilge years ago.

After pointing the finger of blame for everything wrong at the club firmly at the feet of The Prince during the trial with McCabe, he quickly turned on him when he lost.

This is the bloke who claimed Lundstram was “scapegoated” by a club which played him week in week out when at best he was clearly going through the motions

When he first came on the scene he used to write some decent fan articles in the Star if I recall.

But he just has such a slant on the Prince and his involvement that, for me at least, it spoils the reading. I also don't find lines insulting your readership, if they disagree with your angle, particularly endearing.

The Prince's only failings are he's perhaps not rich enough personally to sustain a top flight team on his own.

In terms of backing the manager 120m in fees plus whatever wages was beyond my expectations.

In terms of responsibility, structuring the club to make two consecutive profits isn't at all bad.

In terms of the summer, there was no mass exodus of contracted players, so I can understand a desire not to add to the payroll permanently. Surely this commitment goes hand in hand with many on contract players leaving, which wasn't the case?

His choice of manager in the summer was the guy everyone remembered from his successful Fulham team. He was brave to make the change when he did and this is one game away from paying off. If he'd gone for Hecky, "the cheap option" would have been bandied around quick smart.

He fell out with Wilder is one narrative but Wilder was spoiling for a fight. His public comments were certainly not in keeping with what I want to hear from the club rep and to me were unprofessional and disrespectful. Airing laundry in public is never a nice look. Likewise all players were Chris'. If they weren't good enough that was on him. Just asking for more to fix it and throwing good money after bad made no sense and was an example of him not accepting the reality of the situation i.e. such an abject start didn't warrant millions in short term wages chasing an impossible turnaround. In short he'd or we'd fucked it and it was time to turn attention to next season.

Bit of an upfate from the Mrs. (sports journo) Everyone is hearing the same thing, efl gave the go ahead for the sale last Thursday with Mauriss, Balls in HRH’s court. Others have table bids since. Seems he is stalling now. Wants the season finished as the price will be alot higher should we get promoted. Expect this to be dragged on through another couple of weeks cos of the playoffs.

The Prince is obviously more confident of our chances than I am.

Took us over in league one and assuming he sells up this summer he’ll leave us as either as premier league or upper championship team that owns its own stadium and training facility. There are worse legacies than that.
Actually took us over on promotion to the Premier league, and wouldn't have been able to afford to do so if we hadn't been promoted.

But don't let the facts get in the way of a totally biased opinion.

I'm not saying McCabe was a great owner but there's no need to rewrite history to prove a point.

Your splitting hairs ,the guy came in as part owner when we were in league one and was forced to take us over in the premier league by mccabe outmanoeuvring himself

Makes some sense that Glynn so wouldn’t be surprised if that was not far off the mark

£115m if we stay down, £150m if we go up.

Bert would stall as well.

Easily done in a contract to have a deferred uplift payment linked to getting promotion, effectively covering the difference. Maybe even push it into the next tax year for maximum Princey benefit? Could the Prince be intending to market the club again if we get promoted in the hope the market would be bigger and push the price up? They probably can’t agree the £150m sum I imagine.

Not splitting hairs at all, as you have just illustrated yourself

Summer before the Prince joined we had a novice manager in Weir who had to sign crap like Brandy, McGinty, McGinn etc.
Prince becomes co-owner and we sign Baxter and Cuvelier and appoint Clough. Who then signed the likes of Brayford, Coutts and Freeman. We’d have probably ended up in League 2 had he not come in

Thanks for the info. So it appears that this bloke isn't BS then? Surely he would have had to provide proof of funds to the EFL?

Wouldn't it be easier to just agree 2 prices. League depending. Trying to organise an auction could backfire if the winning bidder gets jittery at the final value.

You are splitting hairs ,since the guy came in there has been a marked sense of ambition in spending that wasn't there under McCabe

He took over completely as owner later on but his time in charge has seen a vast improvement in league position that McCabe can't take any credit for

Interesting that others have now bid. They must be matching the 115m figure or no point.

Well played if other interested parties are putting their money where their mouth is.

Was I giving McCabe any credit?

Are you thick or just bloody stupid?

Yeah people seem to forget that KMC was massively cutting costs before HRH came along to share the burden. and we were reduced to signing Jasper Johns quality players. We were heading for serious trouble without fresh investment.

I'm not forgetting anything but the Prince didn't take over until we were promoted to the Premier league.

That's a fact, not an opinion.

Up until then it was a partnership and nothing could happen without the agreement of both parties.

Some people seem so desperate to lick the prince's arse and diss McCabe that they'll say anything to support their opinion.

Without the investment and willingness to break our record transfer fee time and again we would have struggled, the person responsible for that was our current owner either as a partner when he underwrote the investment or when solitary owner.

And when did he do that?

Sometimes I despair.

The Prince bought the club after we had been promoted.

That's all I'm saying but people everywhere seem to be trying to twist the time line to suit their own agendas.

I've got a very good pension from a lifetime dealing in facts, not opinions, but some people are so tunnel visioned that their opinion trumps all.

Probably the same people that believe everything they see because it came from a "trusted source"

Also have a pension ( god knows why it is relevant )
Also deal In facts and suggest you open your ears and eyes and you will find out that our current owner personally underwrote the purchase of a number of players the most expensive of which was Mcburnie.
You using that as a positive?

And what have I said that's wrong?

He got involved in League One. He was forced to up his involvement or lose out when we were on the cusp of promotion.

In the Premier League he sanctioned a net spend of around 110m. Meanwhile the alternative, ALK, has spent a net of about 4m. Them getting rid of Dyche might prove a master stroke in their eyes but Burnley had favourable fixtures coming up. There is no saying Dyche wouldn't have attained the same results and you can't say putting your U23 manager in charge and getting results because you hadn't thought beyond that isn't much more than blind luck.

Now the starting points were very different but there is little indication thus far that Alan Pace and co would have been anywhere near willing enough to back the manager to that effect. Likewise, from the time with Warnock at the helm and the summer and January spending, McCabe would also have been far more frugal. It's not HRH's fault the spend was to a degree ineffectual.

I take the separate point above that 115m may not be the figure but other bidders have to be there or thereabouts whatever the initial interest amounted to or else what's the point? Having multiple parties interested can't be bad for him or us.

No a fact, we are not discussing the quality of the player.

Because you consider yourself to be Harry Enfield is no reason why your opinion is more valid.

In all honesty you are possibly wrong on that count as well
