Just got back from a wasted 30 mile round trip to BDTBL - Went to purchase a ticket for an elderly relative for tomorrows game so we didn't have to queue before the match only to be told that the system is down and whilst they could 'reserve' the seat next to my ST seat they couldn't produce a ticket or process payment. I was told that I would have to come and get the ticket tomorrow !
I asked the girl behind the desk when the system would be back up and running 'Don't Know' was the answer - I then asked her what if the system could not be fixed before tomorrows game 'Don't Know' was the reply.
I left having given them my card details but having to arrive early tomorrow in the hope that there will be a ticket waiting for me to collect !
Words fail me - they must have turned away several people in the short time I was there unable to buy tickets !
Some things never change at Sheffield United FC - If there is any way to cock it up on or off the field they can find it!

Bloody computers....................not surprised really as the big screen still runs on Win XP.

Thing is we'd be moaning if they didn't have a state of the art ticket system - these things are to be expected when it comes to IT reliant processes unfortunately.

I've had all sorts of problems buying tickets for games and travel, I'm sometimes amazed anyone can get in.

A few games ago:
  • couldn't register online
  • emailed to say so
  • was told that it was working fine!
  • pointed out that it wasn't; I'd tried on three different days on four different computers in two different locations, and I copied and pasted the error message with a polite request for it to be sorted out
  • silence...
To get tickets for the Preston cup game I had to cycle from High Green on the Monday. Couldn't get out of work till 4.30. It was a death-defying race against time (in 32 minutes and 41 seconds :)) and got there just as the door was closing. Thanks to the bloke who let me in at just after 5. This was insane - just to get tickets for a game.

Looked into buying coach tickets for Notts County:
  • I wanted two, message: You have clicked on more than the available quantity of 1
  • OK, so I clicked on one, message: You have clicked on more than the available quantity of -1 (yes, minus 1)
Gave up and used National "Express" instead.

There are others.

Is there someone at the club who we can communicate this to? It really can't be good for business for it to be this difficult.

This, and the rest of what happened, is really poor.

There should be a back up system for when the Great God of IT, Lord of, and Answer to, Everything is feeling capricious.

Is it unprecedented for computer systems to crash? No. So what procedures could they put in place? See what other do, see what works, and do that, instead of treating fans this badly.

Was it the Swindon match that was delayed due to something like this happening before?

Yep. Arrived (ticket in hand fortunately) and went to meet someone by the statues only to find a queue from ticket office right out to Cherry Street.
This was at 2:30ish. Told on way into ground it would be 15 minute delay as a result.

A technician will have gone to the PM saying this fecker will go on its arse within six months.

The PM will have put it on a risk register.

The end.
You reckon it made it to a risk register? What a forward thinking PM you have.

To make matters worse have just seen an article on the Cov site stating that 'Tickets can be bought on the day of the match but it will be more expensive ie £13 for a Senior ' which is £1 less than I was asked for when I went to the ticket office this morning !

Ironically, I don't blame the boys and girls in the ticket office just the bloody idiot that is in charge of them !
McCabe Out !!!

And they won't supply long sleeve shirts despite other Adidas clubs having them!

I went to the Colchester game and couldn't get my ticket to be accepted at the John Street turnstiles. I asked one of the female stewards, who spends most of her time searching old age pensioners bags for any prohibited articles (I use the term search very loosely), who told me that I would have to go to the ticket office to sort it, this was ten minutes before kick off. So she obviously didn't know what to do, and had fobbed me off. I was told by someone else that there is normally a ticket assistance steward on John Street who had some kind of ticket reading machine, but that the machine was out of action ?. Luckily one of the stewards overheard me and using a bit of common took me to the disabled entrance and I was afforded entry. I mentioned this to one of the ticket office staff when buying my Coventry ticket and was told there had been a problem with the bar codes on the ticket, so sending me to the ticket office would have been pointless as I suspected.

My point is aren't these stewards briefed about these matters should they arrived ?, it appeared not," I don't know what to do, so I will just tell them to have a wasted journey to the ticket office ".

Ring in the morning and pay over phone. The tickets will be in collection point and although can't do anything about today's wasted time and money it will at least save you a bit of time tomorrow.

These things happen when reliant so much upon technology. All in all I can only praise the ticket office ladies and gents over the recent months and years from my experiences. I've moved seats, lost season card which has been replaced with the £5 wavered, been on waiting lists for fleetwood and Rotherham and been called back with a few days to spare when available and other little bits and pieces. 10/10 from me.

I remember the last time we got promoted back to the Premiership. I bought my season ticket early. Eventually as the new season approached and with no sign of said ticket, I contacted the club and was told they were being sent by post, this later changed to a courier, but I eventually found myself queuing up outside the ticket office on the day of the match to collect my ticket. My "Mr Angry" letter to Mr McCabe went unacknowledged and unanswered.

Yet here we are again, another farce. I'm sure the lads and lasses in the ticket office do their best but whoever is in charge wants a kick up the backside. To often fans are shelling out a lot of money to be treated shabbily. There has got be more professionalism shown by those in charge with contingency plans in place. Hope you get it sorted okay Fiery.

JESUS CHRIST ON A FUCKING BIKE. I've just put a similar message in the Off Field section of this forum. I've just wasted almost 2 fucking hours of my life on the fucking phone for nothing. "you are now number 2 in the queue" over and over and over and over ad nauseam. If the systems not working why don't they shut off the telephone message system as well. I could have been here until tomorrow ....

This is after I queued for 2 hours to get my ticket on match day before the Swindon game. Arrived at 1pm thinking I'd plenty of time.... System was down again

SSSCCCRRRREEEEAAAAAAMMMMMMMM

I had given them a nudge on Twitter to give them chance to publicise the fact there is a problem (and link this thread).

Hint was taken :)

Maybe if the club could sell tickets to those that want them, it would increase its revenue such that we might not have to sell or struggle the meet the asking price for players. Sometimes it becomes too difficult to be a customer.

Is this something that (the overworked) Linz could take to her liaison meetings?
