Swansea City's tie at Sheffield United has been confirmed for Saturday January 6 with a 3pm kick off.

The game was under threat on that day from the Sheffield Wednesday v Manchester City tie which has been put back 24 hours, although not to allow for live coverage.

Why on earth in the kop closed? What a stupid decision!

They do it because it costs them less to shut a stand,. more logical to shut kop than any other stand.

Says there is 3 steward per gangway on kop, 7 gangways, stewards stood in corners of each part of kop, catering staff, ladbrokes, turnstile operators.

So people are sweeped on to the South/Family stands.

Makes perfect business sense.

Now if we had every one who turns up only for prem games going then I'm sure the Kop would still be open.

How does it?

Its closing off a part of the ground were the hardcore fans tend to sit, who also happen to create the atmosphere. By shuting it off we are losing out on the income from the people who will only want to sit in the kop and the team loses out because the ground will be dead.

Its not all about money, swansea fans dont want to see a class ground looking deserted at one end do they? It will look bad on tele and makes us look like we have crap support. Maybe if they wernt charging £15 for adults also they might get a few more in? Villa at home a few years ago we only got 14k yet the atomphere in the kop was excellent.

Cant understand this decision, no matter how much money its supposed to save us.

I will be going in South Stand for this then.

Its apparently the exclusive part of the ground for "hardcore fans", yet they will only want to sit there and not turn up if they can't?

We have to comply with the FA Cup rules unfortunately, meaning we haven't got a massive amount of choice in terms of pricing.

Its been proven that these sort of games don't attend to attract big gates at the lane. Whilst it would be good to have a full kop on TV, it wouldn't happen. At least when it looks empty on TV we have the reason it was closed, not that people couldn't be arsed to go.

Hardcore as in the ones who make the most noise.

Its the F.A cup not the League Cup, this for me shows a lack of respect towards the competition. I dont see why people why the cant just closed off another stand, at least keeping the kop open will make some noise.

If they're hardcore fans then it doesn't matter where they sit they should want to watch United no matter what.

Why don't they just charge £5 admission? That would pack it out.
But then of course the club would probably get a bigger policing bill, and would certainly have to pay more staff, and would it be worth it?

So the supposed Hardcore can't make noise elsewhere then?

How is it a lack of respect?, not opening a part of the stadium due to lower demand for tickets?

They wouldn't get away with doing this without allowance from the FA and Swansea City, who I don't imagine would want to reduce their cut of the money.

Ahhh... I see where my Nannan has been going wrong all these years. She hasn't been on the Kop since it became all seater so that means she isn't "hardcore". She'll love that one, she really will.

"Hardcore" in my dictionary means "unswervingly committed"

But they won't sit anywhere else???

I would like to see the Kop open but I can see why the club would make the decision to close it.

It also says "Stubbornly resistant to improvement or change" in mine.

There is never very much noise from the Kop for the early rounds of the cup matches anyway and if we don't particularly want to win, they hardly need the vocal support :)

Kind of pointless having Kop open.

Might as well get people packed in more, that would create a better atmosphere in my opinion.

by, hardcore Kopite:p

I don't care if Kop's closed, one stand alone does not generate the atmosphere at Bramall Lane.
To be fair it does.....

Rarerly hear any songs started from other areas.

It doesn't matter what swansea fans think in my opinion, why would it? even if they dont want to see it deserted at one end, if we opened the kop the other stand would be empty too. as for looking bad on tele, i dont think this is the case, the will see on the tv a more packed family stand, a semi packed away end, and nobody on the kop. instead of a semi packed away end and sparsely populated family/kop.

As for that villa game, all i remember was a poor dreary afternoon where we got an offside goal for du du du du, andy liddel

What about the away stand? he he :p

Not heard many from away end either this year.

yup u hear sod all from other stand unless it's a sell out and all part timer's are there. i wish they would open kop up becuase it miles better in there than any were else in my opinion...do we get 100 loyalty points?

That sentence i said before made no sense whatsoever, just noticed.

Hardcore as in there the ones who usually make the noise, not in terms of years supporting the club.

Although saying that the kop is home to the biggest cretins the club can offer. No argument about that im sure.

as a season ticket holder on the kop, i like cup matches as a chance to sit in a different part of the ground just wish they'd open the new corner stand, will probably sit on global windows stand.

Hopefully in years to come this 'problem' of just the kop making the noise will be solved by linking it up to both John street & the South stand, cos from where I sit you can't hear the Kop hardly because of the side panel on the south stand and when it is removed (Eventually) I hope it will aid in the rest of the south stand singing louder and more often.

P.s. I know that that is a long sentance :D

I presume that now the club will be praised for listening to views/demand?

I totally understand why they initially planned to close it, just hope there are plenty on the kop now justifying the U-Turn.

Just as proper confirmation of what I earlier stated:

Immediately after the draw is known, the two Clubs concerned must mutually agree the
prices of admission subject to the following conditions:
(i) The minimum admission (except to children and senior citizens) to matches shall be:
In the Extra-Preliminary, Preliminary and First Round Qualifying: £3.00
In the Second and Third Rounds Qualifying: £5.00
In the Fourth Round Qualifying: £6.00
In the First and Second Round Proper: £10.00
In the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Round Proper: £15.00

Actually according to the Charlton match program, another Blades enterprise centre is to be constructed between the Kop and the South Stand. Plus there's already a corner between the Kop and JSS, albeit an odd looking one.
