So frustrating we didn’t get a least a point.
Much the better team.
We are having no luck at all summarized by that freaky deflected goal, the inside of the post from Hamer (again), the wild scramble that won’t go in, plus the shocking penalty miss.

If we are going down then for sure Hull are coming with us. They looked pretty awful.

That was a critical penalty though. Absolutely have to score in our situation. What TF has happened to the Burrows of last season?

This really is becoming a never ending nightmare. Where’s Port Vale again?

We absolutely dominated that game.

61.6% v 38.4%
XG 1.69 v 0.45
Shots 11 v 5
Touched in box 30 v 15

But, we just don’t look like we have the confidence to score a goal.

It most certainly didn’t feel in the slightest like “domination” stood there enduring it.

I’d replace confidence with competence.

It’s looking bad for us. We’ve definitely improved, but even if you’re Pep Guardiola, key moments decide games & since Wilder returned we’ve been on the wrong side of far too many.
  • couldn’t hold out vs Charlton
  • missing a straightforward chance to go 2–0 up against Southampton
  • now missed a late penalty
We should really be on 6 points, but because we havent been able to handle the key moments, we’re stuck on 3.

In January we need 2 CMs and a striker. Send Barry, Bindon and Soumare (worrying that 2 mansgers dont start this lad) back. Move Matos and Cannon on. When warnock signed akinbiyi and horsefield, he accepted he made a mistake and dropped them. He didnt keep playing them. We need to be as ruthless now.

I hear you, but I’m not so sure. This league is so open and the bottom of it is so crap that it is quite possible that a new manager could turn it around in the new year.
I like to think someone could turn it around. The current incumbent is doing his best to avoid that with his tactical set up. Agree the league is poor but no new manager is going to come and solve this mess in the new year imo. That would be too late. Whether the owners have the balls to make a change again is doubtful as its been suggested they are looking for a sustainable model next year ergo little in the way of investment. The only way I can see a change is if we continue to lose games. At the moment with the tactical approach of trying to nick a win that option increases game by game. If we get to November and are still propping up the league and lose to our neighbours then CW will be on borrowed time. Even then it would require a significant sea change in how the club is run in terms of recruitment and a DOF for the right candidate to be brought in. Unfortunately I don't see that happening and the option of the owners looking to sell up and move on increases with all the problems that brings. They haven't spent upwards of £100 million to be languishing in league 1. Whether that focuses their minds to effect change remains to be seen.

I think the appointment of a DOF is critical and urgent. So far they’ve had two major decisions to make (appointment of Selles, reappointment of Wilder) and made a complete mess with both. These are very successful people in other fields, surely they must realise by now that the appointment of managers isn’t a decision that they should be making themselves. They’re no good at it.

What sums us up at the minute

The goal mouth scramble where hull threw absolutely every body at the ball to keep it out

We all know that at the other end .. 2 or 3 would make half an effort and the others would just stand watching and that’s what’s up

Did anyone else think we we're going to be involved in a top 2 battle or is it just me?

This is bizarre.
We will be playing the pigs in league 1, let that sink in for a moment.
I’d hoped for top two but would have taken play offs. But hey, all will be fixed after the international break*

* will it bollocks. Stubborn tactics, spineless players. They got what they wanted, yet they serve up this shite.

Regardless of any improvement on performances, just look at the table, look where we are, below the pigs who can’t even pay the fucking pie stall staff.

It’s fucking embarrassing

Not being able to lay a glove on Hull in open play, with their defence, is an absolute disgrace. Coupled with the fact that we were behind for over an hour and had to do something or lose. Our xG from open play was 0.17 - not always convinced by the stat, but tells you what you need to know. Makes any other positive from the game feel worthless.

This season is just about not getting relegated now - given the PPG needed for playoffs any way - this team doesn't look any better than that currently.

They say ‘Fortune favours the brave’ unfortunately the Blades have no Braves at the moment. 37 games left to put in a run of positive results and pull us off the bottom. Unless Wilder can change the attitude, commitment and fitness of these well remunerated players and show a little more flexibility to mix up tactics and formation we’ll be playing league one football next season. Come on lads up your game, make the Blades a team others in the league see as a challenge.
