There out of it now can not see us Leeds or Burnley dropping the points required
They've quickly dropped off with the results this week have given them a real uphill battle. I wouldn't say they're out of it entirely, they play the pigs away on Friday

Ye I get that I reckon if we can win on Monday then it will turn into a 3 horse race. Huge game Monday, let's hope the performance can match the one against boro other week, granted they was poor but we really put them to the sword.

They are out of it for me, they would pretty much need to win a minimum of 10 out of their last 12 now to have a chance.

Puts a better light on our surprise defeat to them

See saints are 0-4 down at home again..which puts last season in perspective..all 3 who came up look doomed

Puts them in an odd situation. They're pretty much out of the top 2 race, but they also can't be caught by any of the teams behind them.

Will they be able to motivate themselves for the rest of the season and stay sharp for the playoffs?

Apparently they've lost Le Fee too?

Could be curtains for them in the playoffs too. Can imagine they'll be going into them with a wimper unless their form picks up.

Reading their forum though, wow. Some think people on here are entitled - we were a PL side last season and expectations are rightly going to be high, regardless of circumstances.

Sunderland were mid table obscurity last season, squad has barely changed but their new manager got them off to a flying start and they are now questioning whether he knows what he's doing etc. IMO they've punched well above their weight this season and have done well (assuming they don't have an implosion) to make the playoffs.

Had a nosy on their forum and it’s a mirror image of here after a defeat.

Managers shit and they’re not fussed that le fee is injured either because he’s apparently shit too.

When they signed him he was guaranteeing them second if I recall correctly

It can be. Personally, I am all for criticism if it is put forward in a constructive and civil way; i.e. instead of "the manager is shit" actually construct a valid observation.

No idea on your last point, but regardless he's transformed them from being lower mid table and going nowhere fast, to comfortably the 4th best in the division. I always had a feeling the wheels would come off at some point with regards to autos though, and I think that's them out of contention after today.

The final point was around Le Fee.

They were all boasting to anyone that would listen on social media that they’d just signed this world beater who was going to guarantee them second place.

They’ve actually done amazingly well considering where they were predicted to finish at the start of the season and they’ll make a fortune from some of their young, talented players. They’ve also played some lovely stuff at times this season.

We've gone and might not make the play offs - and I'm serious when I say that.

We haven't played well for weeks and the Leeds game where we threw the game away with just 10 minutes to go has hit home hard. Remember at one point we were just 4 points off Leeds.

We need 13 points for the play offs and ATM I dont see where they are coming from.

Things can change very quickly in football and they just have for SAFC.

Lose to your nearest and dearest next week and the panic button will have been hit. We certainly aren't going up automatically and you cant go into the play offs - if we get the required 13 points - on the crest of a slump. That is a recipe for losing in the semi finals never mind the final.

Keep a close eye on us because this could be quite dramatic.

Le Fee is now out for the season and we await news on Ballard. If we dont go up then we lose half our first team in the transfer market and Le Bris will be under massive pressure in the first 10 game next season.

As I say this all sounds quite dramatic - but thats because it is. We appear to have folded.

There is no hiding place when you pull in 40k plus every fortnight. That goes with the territory. The club has been out of the top flight for 8 years now - which is the longest in our history - the previous was 5.

the fans will now lash out and its up to SAFC to respond.

Blow promotion now or not even make the play offs and make no mistake about it - the roof will come off the stadium.

The manager will be under massive pressure to deliver at the beginning of next season and if we start off 10th or 12th - he'll be gone after 12 games.

SAFC has form for this type of stuff.

They have indeed exceeded expectations and rather than doff my cap to L**ds I may well do so to Sunderland instead... Done really well to keep with the pack, looks to me like they've just ran out of steam a bit. Players not being rested enough etc.

Yep next game is pivotal for where your season is headed from here IMO. Don't think there's any need to panic just yet... Win next week and some other results go your way and suddenly things are looking rosey again.

But as I say, your lot have done well to perform as they have, that squad is near enough the same as last year and I'll wager that none of you would've expected to be in the position you are in, playoffs maybe?

Calm down, yes you’ve lost 2 in a week but you’re 12 ahead of 7th and with the best will in the world I can’t see you dropping that much. You’re 11 ahead of 5th.

It’s a hard league but you’re having a decent season.

did you see us today? Absolutely dire.

The players look exhausted - mentally and physically - and we simply haven't had the squad - injuries haven't helped - to rotate as we should have.

I can genuinely see panic setting in, and ATM its a long shot, going on some sort of winning run - which is what you need to be successful in the play offs.

Your competing with clubs with really strong squads
Your eleven is a match for anyone but like at Leeds the other night where you bested them for two thirds of the game but the substitions changed the match

Yours weakened you and theirs strengthened them

You have a great young squad and no one will want to face you in the play offs

Some of our lot on here had a meltdown after we lost to Hull by a bigger score than you’ve had.

It would take some collapse between now and the end of the season to drop off that much

You’ve got midweek at the end of the week, so it should be enough to stop the rot.

If you're asking me right now, I'd still say Sunderland are my favourites for the play-offs. Whoever loses 2nd between us and Burnley will likely be on a downer and whoever finishes 5th and 6th are nowhere near as good as the top 4. Maybe Coventry have a chance but I still don't think they're as good as the top 4.

You’re right, you sound hugely over the top, you drama queen! 😂

All that’s happened is that your very impressive but very young team isn’t yet ready for promotion. Your great start has obviously pumped expectations to unrealistic levels, and a young team finding its feet under a new manager has still shown mighty progress on last season.

If we dont go up we wont have this team next year. The following will leave:

Isidor, Bellingham, Rigg, Neil and likely Hume. Le Fee clearly as well as his signing permanently was on condition of promotion.

It'll be a total rebuild albeit with a canny sized war chest.

If I was a betting man right now - first SAFC game was 1971 - I'd say we wont go up. We will lose in the semi final of the play offs (if we get the 13 points - and I'm not convinced where they are coming from) to someone like coventry.

Be very interesting too see how we do against your neighbours next week/Friday?
