Lucky goal, probably the winner.
2 of Sunderland goals have been own goals where they weren’t anywhere near scoring…..been an even game…Boro will feel gutted.

Mental game, I think they said at half time that Sunderland’s first came from persistence. That’s one way of putting it.

Second was class, keeper seemed to go down easily

Third was all about putting the ball into the right area with pace.

They’ve been lucky as you said but also got to put the ball in there or have a go. Sometimes the ball drops right

Agree…you make your own lack and either trying a shot or putting in a cross at pace.
Hamer scored a similar goal for us away at Sunderland, he blasted it into their 6 yard box and we scored from a Sunderland own goal.

O’Nien is a Jack Robinson career highlight every game. Nails some proper tackles but gives the ball away in crazy places and puts in some howlers…

Enzo Le Fée is some player!

Some of his first touches are pretty outrageous. Knocking the ball on out the sky with the outside of the boot creating back spin to play the cross for the OG was one example.

He does seem fairly weak if pressed aggressively though

We started slowly tonight and got a bit of luck with the deflection and the own goal but our second was class. Le Fee and Isidor and really good players to watch.

Well we are still hanging on to your coat tails and I guess we simply try and hang about as long as possible, hope someone fluffs their lines at the final and critical moment and we nip in and get one of those top 2 spots right at the death.

Loads of games to go yet like. Nothing is sorted anytime soon.

Great game that, bit jammy to win it but they probably just edged it in the end.

worst result possible for us lots writing sunderland off for top 2 but i still think their very dangerous its so close it could go right down to the last game of the season

It will go right down to the last couple of games of the season and someone in the top 2, whoever is in it at that time - may well blink first. The whole season could be undone for one of us in the last couple of games.

Well we all know how it works. We all get enough bad luck in football not to apologise of a bit of good luck comes your way.
You seem to have had a lot this season, but as I said about your two goal tonight, if you put the ball in the right area like tonight and like against Leeds, the ball might drop right

Exactly right my friend.

Tbf Sunderland and Leeds are the most entertaining of the top four.

But us and Burnley grind out the wins and in Burnley’s case the draws.

Leeds will be champions but it’s a toss up for second.

Sunderland going up. Very possibly top 2. Would be my play off favourites regardless of who's in them due to the type of team you've got - plenty of youth, pace and skill. In a one off game at Wembley v us or Burnley or it would favour you

Also think Isidor will by some distance be the striker of the second half of the season, and easily bag over 20

Chuffed that you would say that.

Our achilles heel is that we are the championship version of Tottenham in disguise - soft underbelly and can always conceded daft goals. However going forward we do look really good at times and our second goal tonight was class. The ball from Le Fee (daylight robbery how we got him) and Isidor has pace to burn.

We dont have a very good record at Middlesbrough in recent times so I'm well chuffed with the win.

Nothing sorted yet mind. Plenty of twists and turns to go yet and there will be a surprise result or two along the way.

Yes I agree, Sunderland looked very good last night, and in both games against us. Really, they should have beat Burnley, and thankfully dropped daft points v Plymouth but I think they'll pull away with Leeds. Their pace and incisiveness on the break is first class.

Given our defensive set-up, maybe we will better suited to the play-offs than other teams, and grind out a 1-0 over two legs. A final versus Burnley would be a terrible watch, might as well go straight to penalties.

Come on. Sunderland have been lucky at times this season. Their goal against us was a fuck up from Robinson. Moore missed a pen etc etc. We’re second despite having no luck with injuries. We should be able to now push on after strengthening our squad. It’ll go right down to the wire.

I’ve watched their game, Plymouth were slightly the better team on the day.

Appreciate that Sunderland conceded a late goal but the goal was coming.

In the end Sunderland, based on chances they did well to gain a point against the bottom of the league. Overall a draw was a fair result.

On their day Sunderland are better than us but I’m confident we’ll comfortably finish above them. All teams have off days and when Sunderland have an off day they drop points. Where as we can play quite poorly and still win 1-0.

Burnley play Oxford tonight and Sunderland play Watford at half 12 on Saturday, both at home and both winable games.
that would put us all on 61 with us a game in hand, when we roll out at 3 on Saturday.
interesting to see how we take the pressure with the new signings.

Sunderland have loaned Jayden Danns from Liverpool. That's a very good addition for them.

They’ve signed him injured. He’s having rehabilitation on a back problem. So he’s missing a few games at least and then might take a while to get up to speed.

Not that they were likely to drop Isidor for him as he’s class

The issue came to light during his medical and think it was too late in the day to get anyone else in. He’s back at Liverpool for a while now and their statement says they think he can make an impact by the end of the season. Doesn’t sound that confidence inspiring tbf
