Summary of this season & farewell to the forum

Cheers Barny, I think you are making the right decision leaving the Forum. I also honestly believe you should give up on United with the views you have and the emotions you have.

The Forum is not your problem, it's your contempt for the club and it would be better for the club and for yourself if you found another hobby. Match-days must be hell for you and if you find a more worthy pastime it will help your karma.

I've nearly packed it in many times over the past 60 years and have often wondered what life is like without United. Forum participation cranks up personal interest and the merits of that are definitely questionable. Football and being a Blade are like an addiction and an obsession which usually take more than they give.

Says the man who was going to pack it in and send season tickets back if we didn't have a good transfer window? Presumably your good lady wouldn't let you.

Barny, we don't agree on much over the running of the club but don't stop contributing . Mickey taking is a big part of the forum so it's not often personal.

Even though I know you won't take any notice of his condescending comments, for the record the person telling you to pack in United is the biggest drama queen I've come across on any forum. Bar none.

Not had a good flounce for years, where do you get them from ?

Woodwardfan. You've nearly packed it in several times over the 60 years you've been a Blade !

It's like that programme The Prisoner, there's no escape, haven't you realised that yet ?

Sean, coming from one of my closest followers who can quote me going back to Bladesmad bless you, I'll take that as a compliment. My advice to Barny was intended to be constructive, serious and helpful. If one has such distrust and loathing for any organisation, be it employer, family or football club, then it's best to part ways as there's no respite.

I'm missing Barny already.

The memories...

You can take it as a compliment if you need to woody. Cling to whatever you need to although "drama queen" doesn't have many positive connotations.

He doesn't distrust or loath Sheffield United, just the owners. A totally different thing.

Still got the season tickets ?

You're not one of those who has got personal with Barny are you Sean in your very short time on this Forum this time round?

Not sure who you are to be telling other people to no longer support United.

Simply because some don't share the blind and misguided faith exhibited by others and don't tie themselves up in knots making excuse after excuse for yet more poor decisions made by those who run the club doesn't mean he should stop supporting his own team.

Some people really, really, REALLY need to start accepting that people have different opinions to theirs and that it doesn't make you a bigger blade because you make excuses.

Isn't this the first flounce since Judge declared he was leaving because we are all apparently a bunch of Tory supporting bastards?

Firstly you haven't been on here that long although you probably believe time served makes your opinion more valid but whatever I may have posted I haven't told him he should stop watching a team he's supported for years and years because you think you are some bigger blade Dear Deirdre who can see everyone's bigger picture.

Sean this thread is not about you and me. I gave advice not instructions and it appears you and PeteBlade have taken exception to my well intended comments, though you do for most of my comments anyway so what's new.

I'll apologise to Barny because I would not wish to upset him over this at this time. Perhaps you are entirely all square with all the other posts ridiculing the lad and one in particular which you applauded, so be it.

Thanks for that Pete, I'll apologise to Barny in case my comments have been misconstrued by him like you have.

[Firstly I'm not sure if i've posted this in the correct forum, it is a summary of this season but also a farewell to the forum]

Just thought I'd create a thread explaining my final thoughts on this season and to let you know I won't be posting again, just incase anyone wonders why I've stopped from now on (not that anyone will, or care for that matter)

Since I joined up here all it has ever been is an outlet for my many, and longstanding frustrations with the way this club operates in most of what it does, or attempts to do.

I have voiced my opinions loud and clear on the board, the managers mistakes so far and just generally the obstinate mindset of the powers that be. The mindset that has sustained such a fantastic club in such a loathsome division for so long.

I have voiced them to the specific point where most frequent posters and readers will be aware. And as a result, although they are my honest view points, and there's a certain level of satisfaction that my views are able to be expressed, beyond that I'm struggling to see much reason in continually making incredibly negative posts on a forum.

With regards to this season, my gut feeling, however negative, is that the squad assembled by Clough just hasn't changed nearly as much as it would need to in order to mount a serious attempt at promotion. Unless Che Adams accelerates his development rapidly, the players coming back from injury improve their game considerably, and we show incredible levels of ambition in January, then I would say the play-off places is about the best that can be hoped for.

I'm sure many will commence their individual celebrations at the prospect of me leaving the forum, and will accompany them with many witty comments expressing their joy.

Side note: Foxy, Linz, can you delete accounts?

I've pretty much lost all hope in the club and the way it's run, but that won't ever stop me continuing to attend the matches in the hope that one day we will see the club sort itself out and finally start rising the divisions, to a destination a great club like this deserves to be.

Hopefully there's at least a few who agreed with my opinions. Anyway, farewell S24SU.:)

UTB.

Barny I'm a bit of a drama queen and I've been criticised for my first post on this thread, so I wish to apologise if it has caused you any concern even amongst so many other unfeeling and callous posts.

I did mean every word of what I said and it was intended to be sound and constructive advice, but it may not have been interpreted in the spirit it was offered. Good luck.
