SUFC Player Values

I know what you're saying, but even with the silly fees in football these days, some of those seem a bit optimistic.

I can maybe agree with you on Baldock and O'Connell but I think youre valuations of Fleck, Coutts and Freeman seem excessive - but as you say though: it is all subjective.
Tend to agree but with the next TV deal PL clubs will have even more to spend so fees for players going to PL clubs will go up again. So those figures could be realistic in a year or so, if we hold onto them.

Edit; not Coutts, too old.

We're in the championship now, championship appearances put £££'s on players. Also some of the purchased figures are understated. These are my transfer window valuations as at 31 January 2018.

Point taken Chali, and I respect your comments. I've long since lost the need to be 'right', it's just about voicing an opinion. I look at Madine, £6mil so I'm lead to believe, something's gone seriously wrong if that's the case. I think we all like to enjoy the idea that a player who cost next to nothing (and they all cost something, even on a 'free') could suddenly join the ranks of the Premiership. I suppose Maguire's a good case in question. Not that long ago playing alongside Collins, now being touted as a future England player. So yes, anything is possible if a team are desperate enough to chance their arm.

Funny thing BB. I thought twice about valuing Coutts, simply because of his age. I doubt my guesstimate would ever materialise, but should he regain his powers, and should a team, desperate to retain their Prem place, come calling, who knows what they might be prepared to pay for his services, even if it's to ensure they get a couple of season's performance out of the guy. As you say, with the next round of TV deals not far away, the new money will have every agent slurping to get a piece of this particular cake. How long before we see a Prem player being paid £5-6k per week?

We should start another table on how much United will be paying to terminate their contracts when we have our next upheaval!!

Very true, though PL clubs will only spend that money on players who have the potential to play at PL level. Of the players I was reffering to (Freeman, Fleck and Coutts) I think only Fleck has that potential at the moment.

Obviously, as you say, Coutts' value is diminished by his age and injury. Freeman may yet display the potential to play in the PL but until he proves himself at this level, the jury is likely still out.

I think the Madine fee is especially obscene even in the current market. His value is inflated due to his position though: strikers are especially expensive.

You're right that anything can happen and Maguire's meteoric rise is a good example.

You've lost your marbles mate!

I think people are basing values in comparison to Madine and Hugill, try Fleck/Evans/Leonard instead to get more realistic.

How long before a player is on £5-6k a week? Minus two weeks if the reports on what Man U are paying Sanchez are true.

Can't agree with your comments on Freeman. As far as I'm concerned, before his injury he'd more than proved himself at this level and I still think he's better than Baldock.

Each to their own I guess.
I think what we have seen of him, at this level has been very encouraging, and had it not have been for his injury, I doubt we'd be having this conversation. However I think he probably has to play a few more games at Championship level to be considered "proven" - at least in the eyes of PL scouts.

I personally think he's a quality player, but I just can't see him having premier league suitors..... yet.

Sorry mate, can't get on board with 750k for Ched. What on earth has he done in the past 5 years to warrant that?
And I think Basham and Stearman are also a tad high, even in todays market.

It’s an interesting comparison as O’Connell is only a year younger than Harry who went to Leicester for a reported £12 million ( rising to £17 million) bit of a bargain eh?

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Leicester came in with a 10 or so million for JOC in the summer...
I think JOC will be the hardest to keep hold of in the summer.
Good centre halves are like rocking horse shit, especially left footed English ones

I'm liking the post not the prospect of selling JOC. o_O

I’m sorry, the fact Warnock paid £6m for Madine and Hugill went for £10m is madness. They are both average footballers, Hugill puts himself about and Maxine is a thug. Neither have any craft or skill, neither are particularly quick and neither have natural finishing ability. The figure for Maxine physically makes me want to vomit.

Warnock really is a pillock, who hasn’t really got much of a clue, the same man who paid millions for Akinbuyi, Horsefield Shelton....has just stitched up Cardiff with another one of his classic fuck ups.

As for our teams values, in the striking department we are quite old with Don, Clarke and Sharp all losing value on that. If it were simply on ability then currently Clarke and Don would be worth at least the same as what Madine went for, both are miles ahead of him.

The gems in our team are
Fleck (10m plus), with Powell and Cairney being touted in the 12m bracket I see him as equal to them and on a long contract.
JOC, is proving a really top player, and would be able to step up again IMHO. That puts him in double figures with his long contract.
Lee Evans has looked like a shorter version of Coutts at times, still not quite in that league but age on his side to get there. A fully fit Coutts would be 10m plus in today’s market so you would have to place Evans there too with both on long contracts.
Baldock- perhaps yet to add that bit of quality in attacking areas with his final ball, and getting the odd goal. But again, age on his side, long contract and has real Pace. 8m and rising for me.
Finally Brooks. His illness is a concern as it can last a long time with the fatigue. But he has loads of ability, swagger and that bit of quality to turn games. Still a kid, and has a lot of growing left to do as well as gaining experience. He should be a top international level player in future if he gets lucky and avoids injury. Long contract....so anyone looking to buy with an eye on the future would need to be stumping up over 15m, with his value possibly going skywards over 25m if there becomes a bit of a battle to get him.

How times change eh.
Player is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Your valuations are just a fans wishful thinking. I bet Chris would have a chuckle with some of your valuations. Each to there own!

Bash is just starting to show his limitations at Championship level but if Baldock could keep his shots down he'd have about 5 this season and would be creating a stir.

In a similar way that he's probably having a chuckle at some real transfer fees too.

It was the difference (or lack of it) between the two that shocked me

How so?
Howcome?
We signed Stearman for that, doubt his value has risen after half a dozen good games for us.
Wright has proven to be the most reliable centre half a league one team could ask for, and proven himself at championship level.

And they're a similar age.

Stearman was almost half that and that was a bargain, for me. Proven at Championship level? Like Stearman is you mean? He’s played 14 games and now can’t make the bench. The other’s instrumental. But he’s not Jake Wright :)
