Anyone else think that DWs substitutions were left far too late to be of any effect against Notts County?? For me Gallacher should have come off after about 70 mins, it was obvious he was blowing out of his arse and couldn't run anymore. Coffie may have been more effective with his pace given a bit longer.

I suppose Kitsons was a no brainer, but would have prefered Cressy instead of Porter replacing him. Just a thought.

I agree with you on Gallagher but I wasn't unhappy to see Porter get a run out.

I agree, I thought Porter looked fine when he came on. He won every header he challenged for and played a few decent passes.

He's no Deano but I don't see why people rate him so poorly. He has limitations but scores a few and that's without a steady run in the team.

Its not that I dont rate Porter, I'd love to see him bang in a few, as I would any of our forwards come to that. I just thought Cressy may have been a more suitable player in that type of physical game. If Porter can start scoring all well and good for me, I dont care who bangs em in.

God personally, I think Porter is more of a like-for-like switch for Kitson than Cresswell. For all his bluster, Cresswell is fairly poor in the air where Porter wins more than his fair share. Porter, however, has a poor first touch so it depends on the tactics on the day.

it's the timing that does my head in.. DW makes substitutions when we are on top and hands the initiative over to the opposition.. bringing players on with 5 minutes left and expecting them to turn the game is a big ask at any level. as for porter.. he is amazing in the air.. he wins 80% of headers

Did DW sub Gallagher to improve our chances or was he injured of or as the BBC says on their site. Gallagher is a slight doubt with a hamstring injury that forced him off in Saturday's draw with Notts County.

Yep agreed, horses for courses.

I was frustrated with the timing of the subs on Saturday too hence the thread. I've nowt aginst Porter , but he needs someone that can read him and play of him otherwise his headers don't feed anyone. Midfield has to get closer to him for lay offs when attacking, and whover partners him needs to be switched on for flick ons and where the balls going to drop.

Looked like he was spent to me TB. Was gasping after about 70 mins. Maybe a combo of both, dont know.

amen to that mate

The jury was out last season on Danny Wilsons substitutions so it sounds like he is still struggling to get the right timing and the right players into the game to make a difference.
