With all the Retained/Released lists released, is this the ideal time for Wilder to be picking and choosing from the dregs?
We haven't got the biggest budget, it's not going to be the easiest thing to attract the higher class players we need, and as Wilders always looking for his sort of player, there must be plenty of young lads, the odd, worth a punt on a free, prem players like Clyne, that could bolster our ranks for next season, there might even be a few gems????
I imagine CWAK are well researched on such players. They are pretty shrewd.
Been done before but is Kyle worth a punt? Will he feature in Pep's plans or become a bit part player next season having missed out on the title this and I assume their desire to strengthen again. Or do we prefer younger upcoming talent. Long term v short?

Don't honestly think we will get walker for atleast another season or 2.

I see a load of Pig players have flounced.

Surely they must be some quality nuggets there that can be persuaded across the city?

We do want nuggets, though, not fucknuggets.

Too good to play for us

This as well. I’m afraid Wednesday’s released list is [cough] out of our league.

Clyne has played 10 games in the last 3 years. So he hardly fits the Wilder mould of a young, hungry player. For me he is the sort of player that Newcastle or West Ham would pay over the odds for.

Fits the Wilder mould re Moose?

I admire the optimism.

There must be a decent striker that knows to put the round thing in the big square white bag out there for decent money???

After all they must be quality players, since the club was pushing for promotion......
😆😆
stay off the Calpol......
bit of friendly advice.........
:)
they have about as much quality as jack hunt........

spoiler
i know you were kidding....at least I hope you were, shit this corona virus has really ferked us

Around £50m disappears from the clubs coffers very soon. Then there’s the matter of deferred wages.

Belt and Gob tightening may well be the order of the day.

I told you, Mcburnie was the most 'proven' goalscorer the club could probably attract.

You might argue about signing Watkins/Mitrovic etc......
But they are just this seasons Mcburnie.

There's a good chance Watkins won't need to sign for a Premier League club anyway, he might already be playing for one.

Brentford closing in on top 2.

No doubt there'll be some good players on those released lists that, for whatever reasons, haven't been able to cut it at their present club. But we need to be proactive in our recruitment.

I think the best way to run a football club is to compile a shortlist of players that we would be interested in signing because we see them as improving the team/squad. If those players suddenly turn up on another club's released list, great! Opportunity knocks! But I don't think that looking through other club's released list is the right starting point. It has to be..."this is who we want/is he available?", not, "this is who they don't want/do we want him?".

I think this is going to be Wilder's biggest test this summer. Finding players who are better than what we currently have that are capable of slotting straight in and competing at Premier League level. They are out there though, and depending on what stage of their career they are at, they can be picked up for decent money, within our budget. But we need to very active and very effective in our scouting methods. It shouldn't depend on which country we have a director in, as to which players we buy. It shouldn't be dependent on one or two people's scouting intelligence either - it needs a concerted effort - a complex scouting network in place across many continents.

Or...

if we can't afford that...

Just watch a few clips on YouTube. 😉

Mcburnie already plays for us, we're talking about getting new players in???

McBurnie will be here next year
As will Sharp and McGoldrick

Whether Mousset and Robinson will is another matter. I noted the latter was on the bench last night. I doubt we'd get our money back but you never know. I suspect the same could be said for Mousse given he seems to be constantly injured and never fully fit. We can't afford to be carrying either because you'd already assume that to some degree Sharp and McGoldrick will play less of a role.

I think Westerm and Central Europe is our best bet for finding players that can move us forward now. We are starting to hit the glass ceiling with the best Championship players who cost £20m+ anyway. We can’t spent £40m on one one player which is what a good English PL player Is going to cost now, so the Sander Berge’s of this world (albeit he hasn’t quite settled into things yet) are the way forward for me.

The French, Dutch, Belgian and Portuguese leagues for example.

We've got no scouting networks though, so will be difficult to find anyone who is a bargain. It would probably make sense to target a big loan signing in that position, but that probably involves significantly more wages than we will/can pay.

The problem we have is that several areas need significant investment and we probably only have enough to sort one, which will inevitably be the first team.

Willian Would be highly improbable...but just the thought makes me excited 🤗
