I dunno, I kinda like my players to be ashamed of performances like that…Going straight down the tunnel, is the less awkward option for everybody.

They didn't give up anything. It's a choice. Why do you need to be clapped for attending a game of football? I would imagine in most modern football, the performance of the team exceeds the level of vocal support,comparatively. Would it then be acceptable for the team to boo the fans? Its just entitlement.

Don't know if you travel to away games or not but I go to most of them and that rapport between the players/staff and the away support is important. I would contend that that core of our support that travel (sometimes long distances with significant financial outlay) is the most loyal.

The away support can be as fractious, fickle and hostile as the home support, perhaps even more so, if they feel they are being let down - as with Selles when the manager but not the players were turned upon but that simple acknowledgement of the travelling supporters is important.

I don't mind if the players want to come over and boo us or sing 'football in a library' if we aren't noisy enough but just acknowledge us and show that we are in this together

Don't personally feel entitled as a travelling supporter but it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Third goal - If McCallum heads it back from the same direction it came, instead of trying to be cute and half ducking under it to try and head it backwards, it's a corner.
Fourth goal - Tanganga napping but it was a good finish.
Fifth goal - Not a penalty. Hollywood Taffs player was already going down before the challenge. VAR would have overturned it.

Should have been a 3-2 win.

They can say the same about 2 of our goals so a 1-2 loss best team won get over it

I don't blame the team for not coming over in circumstances like that. Just so some fans can give them a volley of abuse. Some of it would no doubt be deserved. But what purpose would that serve? Far better for both parties to immediately leave rather than create added friction after a performance like that.

Not so long ago players would either run straight down the tunnel at the final whistle, regardless of the result, or just a clap in the general direction of the fans as they headed down the tunnel.

I think post match celebrations/applauding fans is over done when we win. Consequently when we lose, the applause of players appears negligible in comparison - and a section of fans are overly offended at what they interpret as a lack of respect.
Reading through this thread it sounds as though the players did acknowledge the fans and it's interesting that different fans seem to see things differently (I wasn't there) but I suspect some comments on here have been written by people who weren't there in the first place or didn't hang around long enough to observe what actually happened

For the benefit of those who weren't there or who left early, all the United players clapped the away fans as they walked off. Granted they didn't walk right over to the away end but it would be wrong to say there was no acknowledgement at all.

Was waiting for this twist, now I sit in anticipation as all those desperate to stick the boot in hold their hands up...

The easy option would be to get a level of consistency.

Many have said, when they win they potentially over do the celebrating (we are in a relegation battle), but when they lose there is an understandable drop off in wanting to thank the fans (potentially due to shame).

Home and away, just go to the centre circle and either clap the whole ground (if home) or clap the relevant stand (if away).

You need to take the rough with the smooth and own it.

Its a crap season, there are going to be ups and downs, so just find a level of thanking the fans that suits every scenario.

Credit to those fans that travel home and away.

I dont leave early, but have no issue with those that do.

They have paid money to watch the game, so its there choice what they do.

Looking at this seasons and the end of last seasons form, the players seem to give up earlier than the fans leave, so i dont get the dig at fans who leave early

I have a feeling of apathy and the club is drifting aimlessly. I was pissed off watching it on TV so I don’t know how those who went actually felt. I just wish someone would take this Club by the scruff of the neck and bring it up to the required level. If 15 of these players left on January 1st you wouldn’t even know they’d gone. The football is boring, slow and amateurish at times. The fitness levels are an absolute disgrace. Why aren’t the higher ups telling Wilder and the fitness staff to sort it out or your out on your arses? Like I say, nobody sorts it out, it’s always somebody else’s problem, a total lack of leadership from top to bottom. At the moment it just looks like a badly run Sunday League club.
