Ex Forest and Leeds player, and now match analyst for BBC Radio Nottingham Steve Hodge predicts Sheffield United will drop away and goes on to name about half the league as top six contenders.

“It’s too close to call the final top six but Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Norwich, Derby, Stoke, West Bro and Middlesbrough will be fighting it out to the death with Sheffield United the ones to fade.

“I think Sheffield United will falter, I don’t think they’ve got the fire-power or the depth of squad to really push when it comes to March, April when you’ve got to win three or four games on the spin.

“I see a Championship game every weekend so I know a lot about the League. It’s great to watch, I love it, love the league”

So there you have it, hope this gets pinned on the dressing room wall.

He could be right, let’s see. Problem with this punditry lark you have an opinion and some people will agree with you.

Forest, Villa and Stoke are 7, 8 and 10 points behind us. Unlikely to all go past us. We may fall away but he's just saying teams he's heard of.

And if I could find the odds I'd bet on us to finish above Norwich. Massive regression coming

He might be right he might be wrong. I think we need another striker and fortune with injury to get top 6.

We aren’t entitled to be in the top 6, nor should we think that, a fact that, in my opinion, has made the atmosphere in the last 2 games !

Cardiff weren’t the 2nd best team in the division last year, their fans knew that, and the atmosphere was very good down there for home games.

13 cup finals left at the Lane for support ! The away games always seem to be decent.

Who is Steve Hodge and why does his opinion matter?
First paragraph of OP tells you who he is.

Nobody says his opinion matters, but some might be interested to hear what he has to say.
