What.Dear Mr Wilder, can you please pin this on the dressing room wall every game.
A shit player, who wouldn't have made a dent in the top three divisions if he was starting his career today
But he has paid attention to the Championship. He says himself he knows a lot about it. Yes other clubs have spent a lot more but he’s disregarding our efforts it seems to me on an ignorant basis, ie. we haven’t spent a fortune therefore we can’t be as good as the others.1st whose steve hodge.
on paper & compared to our rivals they are better placed probally. when someone hasnt paid attention to the championship. when you think of Leeds Norwich Derby Forest Villa West Brom or Middlesbrough squads on paper high profile managers, players & superior budgets. then we shouldn't be there. we are big underdogs but so were bournemouth burnley (twice) huddersfield
thank goodness football isnt played on paper & i would still snap your hand for 5th
Don’t get uptight about it. A mans opinion, he is entitled to it. He might be right. I don’t think he will be but that’s my opinion, does that make me a dick?
the purpose of the Op is merely to bring something to the table to discuss
Sorry mate didn’t mean to come across like that.FATTYFOULKE i wasnt be horrible i dont know who Steve hodge is & also that what i mean we are huge underdogs & we shouldn't be there. but neither should Brighton Huddersfield Burnley Watford cardiff. in premier league
Sorry mate didn’t mean to come across like that.
Have a great night tonight and Happy New Year to you and your family.
What.
Like he or any of the players would give a flying f what Steve Hodge might think ??
UTB
He played 24 times for England, including 5 appearances in the 1986 World Cup finals.
I just hope he gets Sepsis.Ex Forest and Leeds player, and now match analyst for BBC Radio Nottingham Steve Hodge predicts Sheffield United will drop away and goes on to name about half the league as top six contenders.
“It’s too close to call the final top six but Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Norwich, Derby, Stoke, West Bro and Middlesbrough will be fighting it out to the death with Sheffield United the ones to fade.
“I think Sheffield United will falter, I don’t think they’ve got the fire-power or the depth of squad to really push when it comes to March, April when you’ve got to win three or four games on the spin.
“I see a Championship game every weekend so I know a lot about the League. It’s great to watch, I love it, love the league”
So there you have it, hope this gets pinned on the dressing room wall.

What a childish and offensive thing to say. When you've sobered up you ought to feel very ashamedI just hope he gets Sepsis.
I doubt many of our players even remember Steve Hodge!
Do managers actually pin up articles on the dressing room wall? You’d think there are better ways to prepare your team for a match.
Who is Steve Hodge and why does his opinion matter?
A shit player, who wouldn't have made a dent in the top three divisions if he was starting his career today
Steve Hodge was a tidy, technical, and highly watchable midfielder, who moved the ball effectively and had an eye for a defence splitting pass.
Admittedly, many readers on here will be unaware that top flight football even existed in such pre-Prem days, but Hodge was a member of the Forest squads that finished 3rd in the old Division 1 in 1983/4, 3rd again in 1987/8, and 3rd again in 1988/9. He was also a member of the Spurs team that finished 3rd (again!) in 1986/7.
Plus his England caps.
He might be wrong about our prospects this season. Or he might be right. But credit where it’s due, please, to an excellent footballer from the days before multi-club mercenaries, celebrity refs, armchair experts, unaffordable ticket prices, and Rupert “fucking” Murdoch.
I’m well aware that top flight football existed before the Premiership, thanks, but I’m still not getting why Steve Hodge’s footballing prowess, 30 years ago, makes him such an expert on Sheffield United.
