Left WB. Need new blood there and decide if Stevens or Laffety is the better cover on the bench.

Could also do with a Duffy replacement / cover as he can’t do 90 minutes.

We need a wing back with a decent cross on them. We waste so many good crossing opportunities and it hurts us a lot.

Duffy has needed backup for a while. Whether Holmes is a write-off I don't know, and whether Brooks stays will change things.

Clarke is fine for now but isn't getting any younger and with Wilson doing more or less nothing it's back to every club's ongoing search for the perfect striker.

We ought to try and tie Blackman down.

Like I said in another thread, there's only Fleck, JOC, and Blackman where I think we can't do better (and I'm not certain about Blackman). Centre mid has the most cover once Coutts returns so is the lowest priority.

We shouldn't look to offload Stevens. We don't have enough cover in that position as it is, so what we need is an improvement and Stevens/Freeman as backup. If anyone moves on it's got to be Lafferty.

And it's all about quality now. We've got a side that can clearly survive in this division.

I have a pessimistic and an optimistic view of our situation. The positive is that I think even with our weaknesses we've shown we're only a couple of quality players away from going a step further. The negative is that I think we're only losing JOC/Fleck away from finishing half a dozen places lower.

JOC, Fleck, Coutts (assuming he returns at same level) Brooks (I think he will be a real handful next season), Stearman, Blackman (if we can get him again) and Baldock are all in the staring 11 for me.

I would have said Duffy but he has seemed to struggle to complete a full 90.

So we should be looking for:

1 CB
1 LWB
1 CAM
1 Striker (assuming Brooks nails down that position over pre season)

All to go straight in the first team.
