Spanish Newspaper slags Blades over Brexit

Isn't it supposed to be racist to look at a team and criticise it for having players of the "wrong nationality"?

Spain considers itself one of the bigger, more powerful nations in the EU, but they're also the most narrow-minded racists from the top table. They have a small nation mentality and are incredibly suspicious of foreigners, whether they're white, black or brown.

Fun fact: I went to Camp Nou for a game last season and a sizeable portion of their super liberal, anti-Brexit fans started chanting 'mono' at Iñaki Williams of Athletic Bilbao. He's black, and mono = monkey. Nobody batted an eyelid.

So I won't be taking lessons on issues with foreigners from a bloody Spaniard.

Only a tiny minority get misty eyed about Franco usually those sad cunts in the Catholic church, with their filthy historical past in massively supporting him in the civil war.

On what possibly basis do you think Spain (with one of the highest % number of foreign residents) can be called 'one of the most racist country in Europe'?
Seriously curious .

There are about 20 countries in Europe with a higher % of foreign residents than Spain.

They aren't often overtly racist, just institutionally racist. Like my previous post: I've heard racist chanting at Spanish football matches pass without incident because they don't see calling a black man a monkey as racist. Which I class as this institutional racism.

It wasn't all that long ago since our members of our own National side were racially abused in the Spanish capital. There was also the infamous Luis Aragonés incident where he tried to motivate Jose Antonio Reyes by calling his Arsenal team-mate, Thierry Henry, a n****r.

I love Spain and I have many Spanish friends but I would have to agree that racism over there is far, far more prevalent than here nowadays.

Oh really!
20 countries with higher ...........care to name your source for this?
Here's mine to back up my assertion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_Spain#cite_note-FT-2
By 2008, the share had jumped to 13 per cent — one of the highest in Europe.[2]
2 Buck, Tobias (17 January 2017). "No right turn for Spanish politics". Financial Times. Retrieved 2017-01-19.
Also Between 2000 and 2009, Spain received half of all migrants to the EU

Cant say fair enough than that with such empirical evidence as 'I've heard racist chanting at a Spanish football match.' / I class it as institutional racism.''

The real evidence is the lack of support for anti immigration parties in Spain, despite it being one of the countries that suffered one of the most in the economic crash
The ONLY far right anti immigration party in Spain(which is a Catholic faction) got a pathetic 0.2% share of the vote.
In Spain there's Fuck all support for populist moronic racists twats like Trump, Farage Penn, Wilders et al .
On the contrary newly formed Podomos left wing Party which is in no way xenophobic or anti immigration won 21
percent of the votes.

Generally Spain is used to immigration, and welcomes it

Institutional racism my arse.
Some folks on here need to understand the history of Spain.

Sorry? Did you just call Chris Wilder a "populist, moronic, racist twat"?

Apologies for that - I actually counted 25 on this list: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_Europe

Having lived here for a few years I've noticed little signals such as the football example which make you realise it's quite ingrained. Nothing nasty or overt, but it's there, just a little more subtle than other nations.

The reason for the lack of far-right support is probably because of the recent-ness of their far-right dictatorship more than anything. Will try and read up on it again though, so thanks for the tip.

Portugal is just as bad if not worse. Calling black people monkeys is the norm there.

*Edit: And don't even get me started on Eastern Europe

That Wheel of Fortune sounds like a laugh though

Ridiculous article, if a club like Burnley are successful instead of being in their natural position in Div 4, they deserve medals, not patronising garbage from the BBC and their allied media, How about an article on their lack of transgender players?

Anyone who has been to Spain and gone anywhere outside of the Costa del Rotherhamo will know that the shadow of Franco lives long and large....

I've seen almost 20 games and the only black faces are either on the pitch or selling knock off scarves outside... liberal fans they ain't....

And the bars of downtown Bilbao and the adoration of Bobby Sands are so off mark as well..

Franco and Sands as bad as each other... Nunca Mais....

Just another biased anti Brexit excuse - Wilder wouldnt have even said those comments - bet Diane Abbott wrote to the journo
