Wow, this thread took a turn!

Here's me thinking we were discussing whether the Blades would make the playoffs are not. You think we have a good chance, I think we have little chance. That's fine. It's a forum. You have put your points across and you give your evidence. I have given mine. All good discussion -no problems with people disagreeing. I get people disagreeing with my reports and that is absolutely fine. That is what this place is a forum and when you post - you will get people with different takes. You put a post out saying 'Southampton was a must win.' I felt that was a OTT considering it's likely to have little impact on what happens now IMHO. I hope you are right and my take is completely wrong.
However, not quite sure how this has now developed into you analysing my character and calling me a self confessed negative person. I assume you meant connected with United and omited to make that clear? I hope so and that you will correct that. You say we are very different people. You do not know me. I do not know you. It's an odd way to start a post. I hope you meant in that different in how we see United? Would rather we kept any discussion to football personally, if we can agree on that?
You are right in that I have been honest that my SUFC take often is more to the pessmistic angle and have have openly said that before but that is based on years (45+ now of going) of mostly being let down with the odd good season or moments now again. My Dad and his Dad used to say, ' they will always let you down' despite my protestations and I have also tried to be more positive with my own son despite knowing what usually happens!
The excellent new Matthew Bell and Gary Armstrong book sums up how United have really not achieved much in comparison to most other clubs of our size and even smaller. 43 other clubs won league titles, FA Cups, LEague Cups and many others been in Europe. I would recommend it even thought it is painful at times - I have nearly finished it and those two as always do a great job.
Sheffield United Sheffield United: A Century in the Dark. Gary Armstrong and Matthew Bell's book "Winning Isn't Everything: Sheffield United's Unfulfilled Century" isn't just another football book; it's an inquest into a century of unfulfilled potential. The 2024/25 season marked a painful...

I predicted us to finish 4th or 5th at the start of the season, even with Selles, so my positivity on how the season may go, was miles off! However, whatever happens and even if I believe we won't make the playoffs, does not mean I am not a fan or will not keep wanting success. I hope I am wrong and we go on a great run - and will gladly come back and admit I got it wrong and say I did not think we would make the playoffs. I will be the first to say it.
But let's keep it about football (a game that as you rightly say we cannot influence despite whether we believe or do not believe things may or may not happen) than discussing a person's character. Many thanks and have a great day.
