Something going off...

The thing was that when we were in the Championship (Upper ends of) and the PL (briefly) we used to farm the academy lads out to L1/ L2 to get 1st team experience. Now we farm them out to the conference and L2... Instead, lets just give them their experience at the lane. In front of (relatively) bigger crowds, in a team which they are familiar with

It can't hurt, we're already amongst the shite anyway. And I would much rather see local lads doing well for us.

Do you think that our fans would accept not challenging just because we are trying the young uns? I would suggest that after two or three bad performances at home the natives would be getting restless. Even if it was for the best long term.
The reason we loan them out is so it cant affect us if they fuck up

I don't disagree stannyblade but if we have no confidence in them then whats the point in having them?

And whose to say that they aren't good enough to put in a Promotion Challenge?

Very true swiss. I would like to see new talent coming through but only if they are good enough not just to make the numbers up.

In all seriousness, the meeting at 4pm is about proposed staff cuts

Not good news for the people involved but in all honesty there should be plenty of scope to make cuts.
Does the club shop really need to be open ALL day, SIX days a week and for even longer on match days?
I'm not sure what the ticket office opening hours are but I'd imagine they're similar.

If the club announced that the ticket office and shop were going to be closed on Mondays and Thursdays that's a 30% cut in those areas straight away. Fans would soon get used to the change and arrange to buy their tickets, merchandise and tat on the other days.

I wonder how many jobs we wouldn't have to get rid of if all senior players and coaches agreed a 10% pay cut?

Yes, makes you think doesn't it? Sothall makes a good point above about scope for cuts - for example the ticket office - but if the ticket office employs 5 full time staff on £20,000 per year then you've got a pot of £100,000 to go at. Make great efficiency savings of 25% (would take some doing and some flack) and you've saved £25,000 per year. So that's 2 weeks of Morgan being injured, or Monty sat on the bench covered.

It makes me sick, but that's modern football.
