For those who seem to be revelling in the Blades situation it is being discussed on radio pig this morning, wonder what fatty Foster will have to say on the redundancies and asset stripping ?

Its called making sure we survive should we still be in the pub league again next year. Thats what happens when a company isnt doing well they tighten the ship so it doesnt sink.

Looks like it is starting to sink in that we are indeed in the Pub League, as for the rest of your post tell it to those facing losing their jobs I'm sure it will bring them a lot of comfort knowing that is what companies do.

Not sure, but I heard that a different consortium came in for us last year, but were way off the mark.

The real issue is that whoever takes us over, needs more financial clout than McCabe (difficult to find) and be a better decision maker (not so difficult)

But then we have players bleeding the club dry, on inflated salaries, that do not appear to move on, and in my opinion will not bring a lot to the team this season.... perhaps you cannot blame them for not moving, but it is a sickener when other people in the club have to suffer. Same goes for those players who are holding out for more money, look at the bigger picture, but they won't , it would be Karma if we withdrwew our offers, and they end up either no where or having to take a lower slary from another club, so that they have something. Come into the real world boys.

Oh dear, this thread has really sunk to depths of the Lenners and Mart days.

I think a few people need to take holidays, get laid or just generally get out in the fresh air.
 
You know what? I agree. OK so Foxy and myself weren't seeing eye to eye and that's fine by me. It's an emotive subject and that's good, it shows we care. What I take exception to is being challenged by an uneducated oaf who seldom has anything of consequence to say, and who only appears to post when he's the worse for wear.

C'est la vie, we're all Blades aren't we :rolleyes:

Usual slashers and protectors who are unable to meet in the middle, bit like Question Time really.

I am not worried as such by recent events and I don't mind money not being spent on the team, I think Kev could have waited until he signed big Kev to release his letter though haha

Let's play the kids as that cost us more than any of our bad contracts.

Where are your thoughts?

I've been back in the UK 48hours and i could cry !
The country is fooked and so are the Blades.....thank fook i'm off on Friday.

I agree, I wanted us to play the kids last year and build a team of kids that have played together for years. Sure we need to bring in some experience but why not go with the kids.

The whole scenario around the club, is unfortunately a consequence of where we are. I don't like where we are and mistakes have been made. But crying about it and chucking insults around like some do on here isn't something I am the slightest bit interested in.

As a result, its natural that people at the club will lose their jobs, I guess it comes down to demand as much as revenue. If we're only getting gates of 15k instead of 25k like when we were at the upper end of the Championship, then the club aren't going to pay people to sit around.

The squad is down to the bare bones and whilst I hoped that the likes of KMac and Willo would sign new deals, they are clearly better than League 1.

Danny Wilson ought to talk about his philosophy (to push the kids on etc), but this can wait. We need to prepare for the season rather than talk to the media. I don't want to hear from McCabe on the playing side.

Oh and if you get over the hill to the Peak District, theres some good pubs - Chequers for one which do decent food and beer :)

Spot on Swiss. If the young players don't play how will we know if they'll ever be any good. Some of these lads will be 19/20/21 and ought to be playing league football. They have a contract with us to play football and if the're not good enough for league one then what are they good enough for. People spout on about giving the kids a chance and then moan when we don't go out and sign experienced players because the kids aren't ready. The club can't win really.

The thing was that when we were in the Championship (Upper ends of) and the PL (briefly) we used to farm the academy lads out to L1/ L2 to get 1st team experience. Now we farm them out to the conference and L2... Instead, lets just give them their experience at the lane. In front of (relatively) bigger crowds, in a team which they are familiar with

It can't hurt, we're already amongst the shite anyway. And I would much rather see local lads doing well for us.
 
with you both. If they can't make it at L1 level then we need to find out now. If you actually look at our 1st team squad it's quite big with youngsters. If they can't play then ditch them, but can we find out with them playing for us first
 

I'm with the "go with the youth" gang. Where's the sense in trying for promotion without using them at this level, in the hope that they'll be ready for the Championship next year?
