He's been linked with about 15 teams today. Seems likely his agent is doing it

Sure it's not Man United?

Talk sport just said we are thought to be bringing this guy in
From China if we can fly him out
Lots of players are trying to get out of China as they're suspending their leagues indefinitely due to the Peroni virus (or something like that)

Though I doubt it I would happily take it lol, could you imagine if we took him for 6 months

Just looking at the situation developing at Bournemouth- Man U chucking stupid money to take Joshua King, but Bournemouth will only sell if they get a replacement.

Maybe Rondon to Bournemouth fits?

If a deal could be heavily weighted towards the club and he was fit enough and up for the challenge then he would be a very good signing. In reality though he will probably want a big wage, wouldn't be open to a pay as you play contract, probably would be unmotivated and not overly arsed, and it would be a shit waste of money. So in theory yes, in reality I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

We need a forward this January however I'm.sure that there are better options out there.

I cannot think of any options who we can afford, would be prepared to come and would be better than what we have !
Good job I am not scouting for United

Surely he’s a candidate to go somewhere like Turkey and then retire in a year or two

Jerry Yates would be the one I would like United to go after. Very decent player at this level and would give us more options up top. I wouldn't mind Sam Gallagher either from Blackburn if he was made available and obtainable. Could do with some physical presence up top.

Only because he scored against us?

Not really. I think he's a very underrated player at Championship level. He's a very different player to the one that Millers had. His movement, touch and workrate are both good and sometimes you get a player who is a late developer. Ask Blackpool fans whether they rate him. He's not a world beater but then we don't have a world beating budget available so we need to box clever. For the potential fee involved he would be a very good option for us to have imo. Still if we don't have a budget available then it's all a moot point really. There are probably plentt of other options out there and some will no doubt be better but then I don't have a professional scouting network available to me, and from what I've seen myself this season Yates would be a very good player for us. We will probably never know though.

We don't have that sort of money.

Probably not at the moment (but then none of us really know as no one expected us to spend £3m in the summer on a player) so I take your point. I can see us probably bringing in a loan for the forward line tbh. Maybe the Scottish lad from Burton lad in midfield (small fee) and a lad up top on loan. But.....of things change and we sell them it's a different ball game. I'm half hoping we sell Berge and use some of that money for a boost to the squad.

I take your point. As I said on another thread though, the Prince was willing to release about £5m of the Berge proceeds (on the basis of a £20m fee).
That doesn't get us an upgrade on Berge so I'd sooner we stuck with him for the season.

physical presence is exactly what we need i dont think mcburnie is that type of striker i would be tempted to send khadra back if we can and use his salary to bring a target man in get shot down no doubt but getting madine back might not be the worst idea in the world at this level

Careful, you might be accused on here by some football purists for advocating the long ball game cos you want a big lad up top....

haha yes weasel you could be right but as a big fan of dave basset as a man manager i hated the tactics he used although did understand why he had to play that style just think a big physical presence up top would be a great asset for us at this time it worked for us with hanson clarke and madine

Clarke doesn’t deserve to be talked about in the same sentence as Madine and Hanson. Don’t get me wrong, both of those provided what we needed at the time but Clarke absolutely wasn’t just “a big physical presence up top”. Firstly, he wasn’t even that and secondly he was much more than that.

Been following since 2001/2 when I was a youngster and in my opinion, peak Leon Clarke's centre forward performances (late 2017) have only been bettered by Lys Mousset's very brief purple patch (Oct/Nov 2019) for this club within that timeframe.

He led the line superbly; pace, power, movement, composure, finishing with both feet...
... shame it fizzled out so quickly once he'd got his bumper new contract.

I've not seen Rondon for awhile and he's getting on age wise... But in theory he's had some good spells at the highest level. Not the world's best finisher, but otherwise a very good all round centre-forward at this level, if he's still fit and able.

Anyway, I imagine he'll get offered a bigger wage in various leagues and go elsewhere.
