It's previous obvious SOD was the first choice, he scared the hell out of McCabe when he presented himself as someone with clear ideas about how he wanted the game played and that was that.
Now we move on down the list to targets like Adams while at the same time playing some silly childish game that we're still interested in SOD, allowing Donny to make us look increasingly stupid.
If it's Adams, why on earth they need to allow us to potentially lose another three games before appointing him beggars belief.
The bit about stamping a new culture on the club lasted as long as it took McCabe to realise such a notion terrified him.

Very scary that the few remaining McCabe/Birch apologists will try and argue that Birch could have been talking about anybody when he opened the show saying his number one choice would be tricky to get.

What is interesting now is the probability that Birch is feeling very stupid in that as you say McCabe has shafted his plan and made him look stupid. I suppose his £250k plus big ones per annum will more than soften the blow.

Eddie Howe is the current manager of AFC Bournemouth and since taking over 2 yeArs ago has taken a basically bankrupt team to promotion from league 2 to challenging for promotion to the championship. All this has been achieved without being able to buy any new players.
His team plays attractive football - better than SOD's from their fans perspective. He is generally seen as a much better manager than SOD down here and is destined for a much bigger club. Not saying he would be the right man for the blades, but he is much more highly regarded than SOD by Cherries fans, who is seen as having achieved very little.

Thanks for that.

As I understand it, the club has said it is compiling a shortlist of candidates, to be interviewed and will make an appointment in due course. It's a big leap, even by your own blinkered standards to convert that to Donny making us look stupid.

SOD has never been mentioned by SUFC, everything else is conjecture and pre-judging, your stock in trade admittedly, why not just relax and see what transpires?

Who do you think Birchy was on about then? Give us a few names rather than some bland nonsense criticising people for discussing football managers on a fans forum

I have no idea, Birchy may have been talking about SOD, how would I know for certain? I haven't seen anything that says he isn't going to be our manager, have you?

len wasn't discussing football managers, except in passing, as a means to his usual end of having a pop at anything connected with Sheffield United.

It may be bland nonsense, but you didn't see fit to disagree with any of the factual content.

It did sound lke Birch was talking about SOD, but in the same sentence he did say it would be very difficult to get him. People seem to have forgotten that surprisingly. I don't have a problem with Adams really, however what is making me angry is that he would have to keep Ellis. Now if we have gone for Adams as we can't get SOD or ddn't actually want him we are spending less money on Adams so with that money let him bring who he wants. I don't care if KM has fallen out with Horsfield over that 'transfer' in our promotion season. He isn't the chairman anymore so really doesn't need to know who is the number 2. We need a fresh clean out and allowing Ellis (if this is the case) to stay s unbelievable Geoff.

All United have said is that we are compiling a list of candidates and we will make an appointment in the New Year. Birch also said that a target would be tricky to hire. Another club's chairman has seemingly made a string of statements in response to media speculation (how much of that is the product of those members of society who reside in cyberspace)? I fail to see what United have done wrong. They are not rushing into making a decision about how best to fill a vitally important role at the football club. The rest of your statement is pure speculation. For the record I would be disapointed with SOD he has no track record in terms of managing away from very very small football clubs and has one promotion to his name. I hope we get Adams as his teams generally win football matches which I still believe is the priority?

Only the truly deluded would believe we didn't have a first choice and we were somehow going through a list of candidates at the end of which we were going to pick and choose.

Trying to break free of the shackles here a bit - how about hanging on for Walter Smith in summer if he's persuadable?

We'd consider him but only if he'll have Big Sam as his number 2.
