Would this be the same ITK who said SoD was getting the job or that is was definitely Adams a week ago?

The ITK's are guessing, and posting cryptic posts so they can back track and maintain their mythical status.

Basically they are saying today it is Adams, the other day it was SoD and another day it was Carver.
They edge their bets so often they are bound to get it right, the fact is there is very little coming out of the club because very few are involved in the process but the ITK's are desperate to impress.
 
Only if you believe the ITK's. According to the club there is a shortlist who they are interested in talking to and that they will make a decision in the new year.
If we were playing this out in the press our fans would be moaning about how unprofessional we are.

IF we appoint Adams I will have questions that I will pass onto BIFF to raise and I won't be too happy, but it is still quite a big IF.

If you believe all those ITKers B58. Personally I don't believe every thing they say, if you believe everything they say then Adams has turned us down too.
If SoD has turned us down then the club should say so because I'd like to know why. If it is because he wanted more funds that's fair enough, we can't afford it. If it is because we insisted on Ellis staying I would feel differently.

Why would it? If we appoint someone else after making it clear who the no 1 target was then why not give the reasons.
Would it be more professional to keep unsettling Donny by letting the press speculate that he is still in the running?

I don't believe he has turned us down, if he had why wouldn't he say he was no longer interested. That would kill the speculation dead.
 



How bad is it that a tin pot club the size of Doncaster Rovers can literally laugh at us & point & laugh abit more on their OS.

Why so ambiguous still? It's looking increasingly unlikely that he'll come, but there's a reason why he's had to release two statements and probably will need a third.

"I would again like to state that I am not interested in the vacant post at Sheffield United and will continue to manage Doncaster Rovers until I am told otherwise."

Bit different from...

"I am not part of the process" and "I am not in the frame".
 
I think they have left just enough of the door open to have a change of heart, if, if, and if. However, if he's not snapping our hand off to come here than he clearly isn't the right guy regardless of the support he would have from a large number of the supporters.

All decisions are a compromise. Maybe we'll forget about paying a big chunk of cash in compo for the small advantage that one of these top managers would give us. £500k can buy an improvement in many ways. Maybe we should stick with Carver and use the cash for a decent centre-half on loan and keep Andy Reid for the rest of the season. How about that for a compromise..?

I assume you are being sarcastic. If not,why do you think DRFC are laughing at us ? They have been made to look idiots by playing up to the media when it would appear from the outside that

1. SOD was never going to leave anyway so Ryan was just trying to make himself look good to his fans

or

2. Ryan expected an approach,it never materialised so he is is trying to ceover his arse

or

3. he has been interviewed,Birch wasn't impressed for whatever reason and we have turned him down.

United have followed he process of interviewing candidates which most fans appeared to agree with. Now the toys seem to being thrown out of the pram by some because we haven't chosen the manager that they want even though he might not have turned out (if he has had an interview ) to be the best candidate

McCabe and Birch can't win in some fans' eyes

I refer especially to the bit about Birch not being impressed by SOD. Nowt to do with McCabe bottling it when SOD made a few demands on staff and acadamy issues.

Birch has handled this like he handles everything - with complete incompetence.

Well done Donny for keeping us informed and for highlighting the weak leadership at BDTBL.

The points you make can't be proven(as mine can't) which means all these claims and counter claims on the forums are the equivalant of chinese whispers.

These so called ITK's don't appear to know anything and are trying to make educated guesses. If Ryan hadnt opened his mouth,the media wouldn't have created further specuation.

I disagree with you re Birch,he has handled this in the correct way. No public comment and interviewing privately and a decision will be made pulic when it is appropriate. Comments to the press by Birch would only cause further problems with the fans. As for keeping us informed...what have Donny actually told us? That we can interview SOD if we wanted(tick),that we would have to pay them compo(tick),that we haven't made an approach(we don't know that one),that SOD isn't interested in the vacant post (tick). Can't se how you can critisise SUFC for that.

No SOD,who do you want as boss,now, by the way?

More importantly, let's hope we have a win for the Mighty Blades today
 
In terms of who I want I must confess I aint looked beyond SOD. I equate Adams with a Blackwell style of management so you can probably take it from that that I don't want him at BDTBL. In reality though, deep down I know our options are limited so Adams is bound to be serious candidate

Got to accept you make some perfectly fair comments re Birch but the fact is he did make a public statement and plenty of more rational people than me thought he was referring to SOD - why do you think Birch said what he said - comments on OS. From that stage on Donny have been spot on in dealing with it in terms of keeping their fans happy and informed imo. Realise we've all covered this before but just responding specifically to your post in the sense that you seem to have a go at Ryan for causing speculation about SUFC manager. That aint his problem, keeping SOD was his problem.

Of the two frontrunners, I'd prefer Adams over Scott but not excited by either and fail to understand how either fit into Birch's job description put out the other week. Howe would be the man for me but even he lacks some of the qualities I.e proven championship experience.

Starting to feel we'll look back in a couple of years and wish we'd gone the extra mile for O'Driscoll

A lot of Donny fans were saying that they would have gone for Howe if SO'D had come to us. Same club, maybe SO'D II.
 
So the guy has turned us down, so what? move on, there'e plenty of others. I've never really understood why so many people seem to have got their knickers in such a twist about him in the first place. Some of the posts over the last week seem to have been written with the maturity of an adolescent boy who's just been dumped by his first love.

Agreed, we only want somebody that wants to do the job!
My problem is not who wants the Sheffield United job but who wants to work for those two clowns McCabe and Birch?
They are the reason we are in the sh!t No body else - Blackwell should have gone after the Burnley debacle at Wembley and its been downhill ever since!!!

Eddie Howe is the current manager of AFC Bournemouth and since taking over 2 yeArs ago has taken a basically bankrupt team to promotion from league 2 to challenging for promotion to the championship. All this has been achieved without being able to buy any new players.
His team plays attractive football - better than SOD's from their fans perspective. He is generally seen as a much better manager than SOD down here and is destined for a much bigger club. Not saying he would be the right man for the blades, but he is much more highly regarded than SOD by Cherries fans, who is seen as having achieved very little.
