So what are we all doing then?

Tickhill, where is it killing 5% of the population? its not even killing 5% of those infected. Its shit like that thats got every fucker panicking.
My mistake - it has killed 5% of those infected (where the health system was overwhelmed) if the health system can cope it will be less than 1%

I've just realised, there's only so much time you can spend in the house with the other half n the child!

Based on current evidence, Covid-19 has the potential to kill more people and cause more hospitalisations than seasonal influenzas. However, it hasn’t done so yet, because so far it hasn’t spread as widely as seasonal flu.
Seasonal flu is still a major killer, which contributes to the rise in death rates during colder months, and to the overloading of medical systems in winter. Dr Suzanna McDonald, national programme lead for influenza at Public Health England, warned: “Whilst the flu is common, it can be deadly for older adults, very young children and people with underlying health conditions.”
The WHO estimates that between 290,000 and 650,000 respiratory deaths globally each year are associated with seasonal influenza.
Public Health England estimates that on average 17,000 people have died from the flu in England annually between 2014/15 and 2018/19. However, the yearly deaths vary widely¾from a high of 28,330 in 2014/15 to a low of 1,692 in 2018/19. Public Health England does not publish a mortality rate for the flu.

Yet nothing stops when seasonal flu is knocking about.
This is 10 times as deadly as seasonal flu

Well I'm rolling up and tying crisp packets.

It means they take up less space in the bin, which is interesting.

Not sure where your 80% comes from in the earlier post but if even 50% of the population gets it , 5% of that is around 1.6 million. Even spread over a few months the services couldn't cope.

Anything that can be done now to limit it is sensible. Seems like half the population is panicing while the other half is trying to play it down too much.

Can someone promote this but talk sport are having a blades special at 4pm with Tony Currie Today Sunday

Mate I am going out of my mind. Yesterday was from 630am until bed time at gone 8pm. Constantly pecking away at my head. Daddy this daddy that. Ainsley this Ainsley that. And she wonders why I was drinking from 2pm. And today hasn't been much better. All I get when showing signs of stress or when I look fed up is "this is my life every day"

It isn't. The eldest is at nursery 4 days a week and as soon as I'm home you pass me the kids.

Currently on my 3rd cider.

We do not know this, because we don't know how many people are infected, because we aren't routinely screening/testing people. So the mortality rates we are seeing are a percentage of those we know to be infected, but there may be thousands/millions more who have it who don't progress to death, serious illness or even symptoms.

Interesting observation on this in today's Guardian below...

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/22/what-is-coronavirus-and-what-is-the-mortality-rate

Of course, it's very serious. But drawing comparisons with other pandemics, or making extrapolations from one country to another, with different healthcare systems may be very misleading.

Over the past few weeks I've been putting in a regular attendance at the gym and stepping up my exercise routine. I'd just started getting my Adonis-like physique back when the gym closed down at the weekend. So I'm looking now for a way to sustain it. I've got some weights at home, but they aren't heavy weights like those down the gym. I've also got some weights that I bought to hold down the gazebo - they're 15kg each - so I might be able to do something with them to keep in shape. They're a bit hard to get hold of though and there's a good chance I could drop one on my head whilst lifting them and end up looking like something out of a Tom & Jerry cartoon.

I think I'll increase my running during this period. I try and go 3 times a week, I don't always manage it, but there's no excuse now. I may as well try and fit a run in every day if my joints are up to it.

We've always enjoyed going out for a long walk at weekends - but a good walk, to me, always ends at a pub - so that's not going to be possible for a while.

I spent most of yesterday in the garden, planted a few fruit trees, cut the grass. There's something therapeutic about spending a bit of time in the garden and seeing a difference. Also bought some seeds from the garden centre yesterday and have got those planted out now, in little trays indoors. A few herbs and a few flowers.

Life doesn't have to stop just because there's no football or pubs - it just feels like it!:(

Really? 😲
I just took it from what it said on the board!
Yeah they had it down at Shakespeare's on Gibraltar Street a few weeks ago. Very nice too! I hadn't memorised the ABV btw - but I know I don't usually bother with anything below 6% - so I just checked it out and it's 6.3%.

I bought some tins of Wylam ale recently, this one looks interesting, I've yet to open it though...
