Based on current evidence, Covid-19 has the potential to kill more people and cause more hospitalisations than seasonal influenzas. However, it hasn’t done so yet, because so far it hasn’t spread as widely as seasonal flu.
Seasonal flu is still a major killer, which contributes to the rise in death rates during colder months, and to the overloading of medical systems in winter. Dr Suzanna McDonald, national programme lead for influenza at Public Health England, warned: “Whilst the flu is common, it can be deadly for older adults, very young children and people with underlying health conditions.”
The WHO estimates that between 290,000 and 650,000 respiratory deaths globally each year are associated with seasonal influenza.
Public Health England estimates that on average 17,000 people have died from the flu in England annually between 2014/15 and 2018/19. However, the yearly deaths vary widely¾from a high of 28,330 in 2014/15 to a low of 1,692 in 2018/19. Public Health England does not publish a mortality rate for the flu.

Yet nothing stops when seasonal flu is knocking about.

Call thi sen a Blade when thaz buggered off to Utah whilst Blades are playing? ;)

I did similar. But not Utah. In Switzerland and planning to spend the day in Lucerne and go up Mount Pilatus.
Had a sports bar lined up for brekkie and Blades then they bloody cancel it☹️ Decided to head to Vegas, it’s empty apparently.

Done The Bodega, had an excellent burger at Meat Stack in Grainger Market now having a pint by Two by Two in Beeronomy 😋IMG_20200314_135407.jpg

Things I could be doing;

Decorating the downstairs toilet (its needed doing for about 5 years).
Catching up on all the little DIY jobs.
Playing a board game with the family.
Reading a book.
Watching a box set.

What’s actually happening;

Read the new posts on here.
Walk around the house for an hour, fed up.
Have a wank.
Repeat.

My brother went down yesterday (to Skeg) to open his van up....I told him its all over the news in US that UK government to use Skegness as a holding facility for infected....he’s crapping himself.
Nobody's mentioned crapping yourself was part of Coronavirus. Wondered why every bugger was stocking up on bog rolls.

BUT
Seasonal flu kills 0.1% of those affected and only 5% of the population catches it each year.
Covid-19 kills 5% of the population (when the healthcare system is overwhelmed) and is likely to be caught by upto 80% of the population - we have no immunity.

If we do nothing upto 3 million deaths in the UK.

Every day we delay the lockdown we increase cumulative cases by 40%.

Wuhan went into lockdown with 100 cases per day

Been in a few around Newcastle. Ended up in the stack for a few. Now in All Bar One before heading back to the hotel to ‘freshen up’ and then out again later. Missed the South Shields game but drinking is apparently more interesting.
