Slavisa looked as frustrated as we feel after the game and he will know exactly which players he needs to oust and who can do the business.

When he gets his targets in we could suddenly look like a totally different side.

The box to box midfielder (x2) is THE most important player in any side as he is a defender, a ball winner, a link from defence to attack AND he should weigh in with a few goals.

This is the type of player we are crying out for. Hopefully Viera and possibly Garner will be the kickstarters of our midfield this season.

He said words to the effect that the players needed time to adapt to his ways - ie taking risks to play attacking football.

I think they are currently stuck in the timewarp of last season and frozen in fear of making a mistake.

I am very happy to wait for the gradual thawing - it has to be the way forward :)

Anyone surprised by the slow start shouldn't be. SJ only started the role 6 weeks ago, his analysis of the current squad was interrupted by late returns from the Euros and a disrupted pre-season and is having to be done 'in-flight' during the early part of the season. The squad is unbalanced and has several key gaps, both in terms of positions and traits. On top of all that, the market is incredibly slow moving.

It is however reassuring that SJ's comments and the steps he's taken so far including the recruitment of Viera and Davies show that he's spotting and addressing the biggest issues. Adding natural attacking width, more creativity and goalscoring threat from midfield will also be crucial.

I don't expect the club to be in the top 6 after 10 games and the transition will inevitably take time. However, from what I've seen and heard from SJ, I am confident it will be so (if not higher) by the end of the season.

Not worried yet, give it 5 or 6 games, then hopefully there will be some sort of upturn, fingers crossed.

And that’s what’s pissed me off the most with all this…we sack/accept a manager leaving in March….a perfect time for a new man to come in and suss his squad and begin preparations….but don’t get a new bloke in til July!
Why? Save a bit of compo?? Cos they couldn’t decide? Wasted time chasing a bloke who could t get a work permit?…which ever it is it’s been to the detriment to the club and should never have happened.

My biggest issue when Wilder left was us being in the best position to come straight back and hitting the ground running. But surprise surprise, my fears about what would happen appear to be taking place. It’s play offs at best….I just hope we can have the patience when we are still lower half of the table at Xmas!
