Anyone surprised by the slow start shouldn't be. SJ only started the role 6 weeks ago, his analysis of the current squad was interrupted by late returns from the Euros and a disrupted pre-season and is having to be done 'in-flight' during the early part of the season. The squad is unbalanced and has several key gaps, both in terms of positions and traits. On top of all that, the market is incredibly slow moving.
It is however reassuring that SJ's comments and the steps he's taken so far including the recruitment of Viera and Davies show that he's spotting and addressing the biggest issues. Adding natural attacking width, more creativity and goalscoring threat from midfield will also be crucial.
I don't expect the club to be in the top 6 after 10 games and the transition will inevitably take time. However, from what I've seen and heard from SJ, I am confident it will be so (if not higher) by the end of the season.
