Selles will be gone by November

If we want to move forward we need to get behind him.

If we can see what he’s trying to do with his style of play and it’s entertaining then we should back him.

Obviously results can’t be atrocious but mid table for me is acceptable while he implements a new style with hopefully some new players.

Happy to kick on after Xmas.

It’s the owners we need to keep an eye on to see how they manoeuvre… I don’t think they’ve come in to mess about but right now I’m on the fence.

They are utilising the loan market well and not saddling us with any long term commitments on silly wages.

Although I didn’t want vinnie or Anel to go they have sold well too.

I would like to see a couple of good permanent signings before the window close (this is my only gripe)

Looking forward to the first game Saturday to see what this new style looks like.
Spot on Jan Arge, everything the owners have done so far will make perfect sense if they bring a number of permanents in who add to the team. At present they have 'sold well' but bought nobody. We are severely depleted at CB, so much so that many are trying to convince themselves that Robinson is in fact a good player. We've gone from 4 right backs ( Seriki, Gilchrist, Clarke, Choudhury) to just Seriki and we've lost our second choice CF. That's all with 2 days to go to the start of the season.

I think Selles style of football is going to be pleasing to watch but god forbid we get any defensive injuries.

He won't be gone by November

Asset stripping is a totally different concept to 'assets' that actively agitate for moves, often based on personal wants and (often poorly created by a club) contractual obligations, and are granted them

We're a feeder club for bigger teams. Like 86 out of the 92.

Good morning. Coffee time now.

was sad to hear we had lost cooper hamer ohare campbell One Brooks Arblaster Burrows Peck Barry Shackleton Robinson Cannon and Bindon , RND Marsh and Ukaki

Could you just jot down a winning team and formation out of the available players in that list?
thats selles job ,,, and theres 7 others to consider caceres and the other young uns , plus any of the 5 or 6 weve enquired about that can arrive before september

I’m annoyed that we start another season not being ready. The sales of Souza, Anel & Moore made sense financially but I presumed we would have replacements ready straight away.

There also must be a reason why players are choosing other teams over us too.

I’m not worried about Bristol on Saturday, win lose or draw it’s not season defining, but I am worried about our clear lack of financial resources. Especially when we’re still receiving parachute payments

Similar worries to yourself not really annoyed more perplexed at exactly what the new owners think they are doing, the activity is so poor they seem to be totally destroying any chance of a 'return' on their investment.

All the low value signings we have made look way too early in their journey to be anywhere near the first team, and regardless of what the clapping loonies keep saying to start another season about 5 short of real first team players is negligent.

It has a real feel similar to when Hecky had to endure Ndiaye and Berge being swooshed away minutes before the start of season- i.e just not right.

Praying the Bindon kid is brilliant!!

Now thinking that Wilder stood up to the board about transfers out and what was needed. They didn't like it and have gone cheap with many high earners out going (including Wilder) and cheap loans in. If we don't make any statement signings then play offs will be a push.
How do you know the loans are ‘cheap’?

FFS. Give the guy a chance. A big clearout is long overdue. Anel had a poor second half of season. The Wilder era is gone
It’s not about giving him a chance, it’s about the board giving him the money so he can do the job successfully. I hope they do and I hope he succeeds. I think the lad from Forest is a good player but can’t comment on Souza replacement, but he will probably need to adjust. The other players seem to be a flip of a coin with the likelihood of not good enough at this level, not an attack on them but a reflection of a board that think you can flips coins and hopes for a positive outcome. Selles has the potential but if half of those he’s been given are flip a coin signings then the likelihood is that his win rate will be less than 50%. This is not a whinge just an observation but can’t wait to see his style of play with the players he has at his disposal, the art of a good manager is to adapt to a style that suits the players you have and I think he might have to do that until January.

What was even the point of bringing Selles in and all the risks and reaction that came with that decision, if he wasn't allowed to bring his own players in? There was a lot of talk about that appointment being a change to how we work as a football club, but what's actually changed? We still have the same structure (i.e. no Director of Football etc.), we still have Wilder's team (which he managed to get a tune out of, so no pressure Rubén!), and we've even been in for the same transfer targets.

Obviously I expect one or two to come in before the window shuts, but it seems highly unlikely now that we'll have a squad capable of going the distance in the promotion race. That was the same for the first half of last season to be fair, but it was a miracle that we were where we were in January, and we certainly can't rely on that happening again.

Presumably the expert analysis by the OP is based on the fact Selles is ‘forrin’ and so was Slav.

There is some debate on if its better to buy before you sell as selling clubs don't know you have a load of money to spend on needed replacements
Then of course selling before you buy tells potential targets, we definitely have space for you and you know the budget you can afford. Of course not securing targets leaves you short .

However clubs play it , there are upsides and downsides .

However there is a relatively small window of opportunity when you have the right offer and the player wants to move on , so you just have to grasp it .

It's never ideal but those windows of opportunity of buying and selling just don't align and it may be a couple of weeks where your left short or have too many players ..

Just how it is and reading more into it is a bit daft .

Tbh, if he's selling like this and replacing with his own players he's obviously confident in his own abilities, this will very much be "his" team by the end of the season - so its on him to get the results isn't it...

My prediction is were gonna love seeing some attacking football.
