Sacking Clough right now would not be good. But the reaction to the idea that Warnock could return gets toward the root of our problem. We are in a phase of favouring niceness over what it takes to win. Hopefully a full 4 years of 3rd division football will be enough for those who feel the need to keep apologising for the most exciting phase we've experienced in decades.

If we don't make the play offs we should sack him, not before. If we're in this division next season we should expect to be commanding it at Christmas, and if not, get rid.

Whatever happens we should demand a proven winning mentality from the next manager. Fuck likeability.

Let's hope Clough can remove those extreme doubts over the next year.

Ah, a reaction to today's defeat that's even more laughable than the snide 'but we should be in Europe by now!' sarcasm that filled up the shoutbox.

Why is it laughable? They apparently wanted 250k for a Scottish winger who's never played in England.
Out of interest, How much did Celtic pay?

So if 80k is laughable, 1.5million for Brayford must be extremely serious

Ok, do you actually believe that we've offered £1.5 million for Brayford ?

Gary Mackay Steven is an international player who wouldn't be going anywhere for £250,000 if it wasn't for his contract running out in the summer.
At least Dundee United have told us to foxtrot Oscar and will be keeping the player until his contract expires.
The £80,000 we've offered for a quality player is insulting to Dundee United and to the player himself, it oozes small time and a lack of class. GMS could see all he needed to see about this club from that offer alone.
It might be seen as an attractive offer when Sheffield United come to selling but at least Dundee United aren't so pathetic and they realise that keeping the player for a bit longer is worth more than that to them.
Celtic will pay nothing for him, he is signing a pre contract agreement which means he stays at Dundee United and then becomes a Celtic player next season.
In order to compete with that our offer had to be serious and not an insult.

Yes. The source, a person very high up in the club told a mate. Never been ITK in the past, but as I have no reason to doubt the info I thought I'd share it. I've heard stuff in the past from the same person and it's been found to be true, I just haven't shared it before as I was told in confidence.

Whether we get him is an entirely different story. But yes I believe we bid 1.5m for him

I don't believe a returning Warnock is the answer and would be a backward step.

I think that automatics this year is over and will be play offs at best - The Board and Mr Clough must reinforce the squad over the next two weeks with some quality as I fear for our chances in the play offs as it stands.

T'was £75k, Celtic will be paying nothing.

If we'd insulted them, we'd have heard more of it from their end.

Mmm, semi finals on Wednesday, take it no fucker is bothering then??
Don't slate clough for fuck sake,he,s no better than the next man.
No fault of clough our wayward format, the lack of funds is.

By bringing back Warnock?

Between this thread and the "let's forget them cup games" thread, I dispair of this forum at times.

Yes people go a bit overboard sometimes but 18 points off 2nd is not good enough, if I had told you before the first league game we would be 18 points off 2nd and just 3 points off the bottom half by mid jan, after you'd stopped pissing yourself with laughter you would have asked for some of what I'm drinking.

We would have wanted him now not after the season anyway so what we bid doesn't really matter.

He did not choose Celtic over us because we only bid 75k. He chose them because they are his boyhood club, will win titles and play in Europe and will have him playing for Scotland.

If we had bid 1.5 million it would have made not one bit of difference.

His signing on fee of that £1.5M might have swung it but I get your drift.

Clough has had one promotion in about 15 years of management.

Only when you've done like Warnock can you even debate becoming yesterday's man.

Aahh, Neil warnock. The football mastermind, remind me please, how long did he take to get us promoted ?
