One big difference between the Curran signing and Madine (if it happens) is the former was signed by the chairman of the time (Reg Brealy), if the latter signs it's down to the manager.

If he comes its just another in a long line. we get behind him and if he comes on for 10 mins in the last game of the season to score the goal that we need for automatic promotion. we can do the post again and see if his name comes up.

From the word go, does anyone even come close to Madine? I mean Curran was a pig, but not to this extreme surely? Before my time though.

Curran could have scored a goal to win us an FA Cup and another 40 league goals to win us the league. It wouldn't have mattered to a large section of our fan base. They probably still wouldn't have accepted him.

Can't say I've actually hated any of our signings, don't get that at all. Certainly been players I would have preferred we didn't sign, King, Evans and now Madine. Although at the end of the day the opinion of supporters counts for very little one way or the other.

Think this seems to have meandered into a list of shit players rather than players fans were up in arms over prior to them joining. Anyway.....

As I recall Bromby, Geary and Quinn were relatively well received. They were the the only decent players they had at the time and we got them for nowt.

Danny Wilson (the car park protest against him wasn’t exactly a dignity-fest) both won over the fans after initial controversy for their snortbeast past.

Marlon King was absolute dog shit. Think he scored once and was out injured a lot.

Stuart McCall wasn’t welcomed. Seen as way past his best, had the Leeds connection plus his antics when we played Bradford City the season hardly made him popular.

Ched second time around obvs.

Dean Hammond (probably pound for pound the most hated ever player alongside Terry Curran) was seen by most as a decent signing.
